We took a day away from the beach and headed to the hills for an excursion.

Carlos, our guide, was entertaining and well-versed in the history of Puerto Vallarta, San Sebastian, and every point in between...as well as, the local plants many uses.

We stopped frequently and sampled local fruit that was exotic to us from roadside stands or even picked fresh of the trees by our guide.

A stop at a tortilleria afforded us a taste of authentic Mexico. Then off to a small distillery for a look at the tequila manufacturing process along with tasting of exceptional tequila and liqueur tasting for those so inclined. Smooth. Another stop and micro tour at an organic coffee farm gave us more local history and samples of rich, deliciouscoffee.

Arriving in San Sebastian we had a terrific lunch and a tour of the town. All through the day Carlos educated and entertained us, allowing time for us to ask questions and explore.

Our tour group was small and friendly.

I highly recommend this tour when your looking for an exploration of parts of Puerto Vallarta away from the beaches and tourists.

Tommy our tour guide was absolutely amazing from start to finish. He was extremely knowledgeable, very friendly and a true pleasure to be around. He answered every question and there were quite a few especially from one person in particular.

As a side bonus we stopped at a small but wonderful bakery and also a place where we got to learn to use a real tortilla press to make our own tortillas.

The tequila distillery was very small and intimate. You were able to taste 9 different tequilas. The bottles to purchase were extremely affordable. They are only sold in Mexico so it was nice to get some unique tequila at a cheap price.

The drive was long but this excursion was well worth it. This is absolutely a FULL DAY tour from pickup to drop off. If you have the time I would definitely recommend it especially if you can get Tommy as your tour guide.

I did this tour as a private tour. My guide was Eric. The tour was amazing. Really interesting. But Eric made the tour so great. He was knowledgeable, flexible, and great fun to be with. I also have limited mobility, and he made sure that I experienced everything without any barriers, working to ensure access to all features. I would definitely recommend the tour to anyone wanting to see some of the real Mexico, and experience its history and culture. And you couldn't do better than having Eric show you his country....

I really enjoyed the short amount of time we actually spent in San Sebastian. It's a beautiful town with wonderful weather.

The rest of the tour was spent getting yelled at during the tequila tasting for taking too long in the bathroom, riding in an un-airconditioned van, and listening to the guide make sexist jokes. I was the only woman alone on the tour, so of course I got the guide following me around telling me I'm not smiling enough and trying to get other people on the tour to gang up on me for not being 'fun.'

Pro-tip: if you want people to smile and have fun around you, trying acting like a respectable person.

Our tour guide Jesus was great. We had a nice walking tour through San Sebastian del Oeste for almost an entire day, which included visiting a little tequila shop and dining at a good hole-in-the-wall restaurant. The food here was very authentic and delicious. It was a highlight of our trip. San Sebastian del Oeste had many cool facts about the city and history and is very beautiful. There was a gift shops area too so you can buy cool souvenirs here. For an activity that was a day trip, it was well worth the experience.

Jorge was a wonderful tour guide. His timing was perfect in that he always managed to get us to the tour stops (coffee plantation and tequila distillery) ahead of the other tour groups!
Jorge was knowledgeable and very thoughtful.

Great tour we have been to San Sebastian years ago but yesterday we were amazed at the changes since the government has started its magical villages rehab. The town is glowing. The tour even better first stop was to view the canyon bridge. Restaurant and bakery there great taco and nice pastry. After which we went to the tequila distillery, the coffee plantation , then lunch at a pleasant restaurant followed by a tour of the town and the church. Great day and all. Our guide Jorge and driver Aldo the best. Very informative and friendly.

My husband and I went on this tour with another couple and really enjoyed it. Our guides were very informative, friendly, and knowledgeable. We really found San Sebastián to be interesting and a great peek into everyday authentic life in Mexico away from tourist areas. The lunch provided at the destilería was FABULOUS.

When we booked this tour, we didn't know how wonderful it was going to be. Our guide, Carlos was so knowledgeable and personable, and he made the trip so enjoyable! A visit to our favorite bakery and taco stand, tour of a small, family tequila distillery and the coffee plantation tour were all unexpected bonuses on the way to our destination. After a delicious lunch at Lupita's restaurant, we toured the town- church, silver shop, hotel, town square and soaked in the ambiance that makes San Sebastián a Pueblo Magico. Highly recommend this tour and our friendly guide Carlos!

I got the instant confirmation from trip advisor the moment I booked the trip. An email with pick-up time came soon afterwards. The van picked us up dot on time at 9:15 AM. The van was clean and with A/C. There were a total of 8 adults in our group. The fellow travelers were from different parts of the globe and soon we started chatting up with them. Our guide was knowledgeable and with good sense of humor. The first stop was after about 45 minutes of driving. The first stop was next to a beautiful bridge and a calm serene area. The highlight of this stop was the freshly baked goodies from a bekary right next to the stop. Next stop was a Tequila distillery where we learnt the steps of tequila distillation. The last stop after a long drive over cobblestone road was the town of San Sebastián. We made several stops in the town which culminated in the town square and the old church. it was a bright beautiful day with (relatively) pleasant weather.

The duration of the trip was perfect. The lunch was good, but dessert was not included :) (which is probably a good thing for me).
