Overview
Pleasure your palate with meat-stuffed empanadas, succulent shrimp tacos and sweet Mexican pastries on a 3-hour culinary tour of Cozumel. Sample the exotic flavors of the idyllic island, noting the Mexican spice and Caribbean flair of the dishes due to Cozumel’s close proximity to Cuba. Immerse yourself in the culinary customs of the area as a knowledgeable guide takes you to five favorite local haunts to same fine Yucatan bites and beverages. Enjoy personalized attention and round-trip transportation on this intimate small group tour.
What to Expect
Greet your gastronomic guide in downtown Cozumel to commence your epicurean adventure. Relax during the comfortable minivan journey to a selection of authentic eateries and food stalls located off-the-beaten-track. Sample a classic Mexican empanada then savor the fresh flavor of a succulent shrimp filled taco, the fish in which was recently caught from the crystal clear water of Cozumel’s sea. Sip a refreshing cerveza as your guide explains how a combination of Caribbean and Yucatan culture influence Cozumel’s colorful cuisine.
Enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of an open-air market as you become acquainted with exotic spices, unfamiliar fruits and mouthwatering meat. Feel the buzz and bustle before journeying to an intimate and ambient family-run restaurant (cocina economica) for a simple yet sublime taste of regional fare.
Conclude your gastronomic adventure with a visit to a Mexican bakery. Awaken your senses to the rich aromas of freshly baked bread and sweet pastries, and sip refreshing aqua fresca (a non-alcoholic drink of water and sweet fruit syrup) before returning to your minivan. Digest the knowledge gained on your cultural tour of Cozumel’s cuisine during the return journey to downtown Cozumel.

OH.MY.GOD!!!!!! If you're a foodie, you MUST take this tour!

Just got back from Cozumel. Took this food tour, which was well off the beaten path. You can tell that a lot of thought went into organizing this tour. Cannot say enough good things about our guide, Gerry. He was outstanding - full of local...More

A must do if you like good food and the real Cozumel

Our tour guide Gerri was fantastic and the food was even better. We got away from the tourist area to places you would never find on your own. The authentic food was absolutely delicious and they even took into account food allergies. The group was...More

Very interesting and fun

We really enjoyed our time with Gerry our guide Martín our driver. It felt like an episode of Anthony Bourdain’s show where a local shows you the “real” Cozumel. Very unlike what most Americans are used too, but it was very safe and fun. Awesome...More

Professional and worthwhile

We’ve been to Cozumel before and wanted to do something different. This tour was interesting with great food and local insight. Gerry was professional courteous and more of a host than a guide. Glad we did this!

My gut says it’s too late of an arrival. We started at 11am I think it was. It’s always possible they may set up a tour that starts later but it probably would have to be for the whole group. The tour is amazing though!
