A Great Experience!
Sep 2020
As we were cruising around the island, we made a pit stop at UVAS and had a bite for lunch, snorkeled and enjoyed the pools. The staff were extremely friendly, accommodating and we had a wonderful time. The photos that the staff took while snorkeling were exceptional! We had a 6 year old with us and he took to the guide and had a fantastic time. We are very glad we visited and would go back!

Great Beach to Relax or Do an Activity
Feb 2020 • Friends
This Beach was not crowded but had enough activity to keep all comfortably interested. The restaurant was AMAZING! The food was fresh and prompt. Make sure to bring water shoes as this beach is a coral beach and slippery in some parts of the water as a result. The water was on the cooler side in early Feb but clear and beautiful.

Tour operator bait and switch
Jan 2020
We went to the tour desk at the back of Punta Langosta Mall near the escalator heading down to toward the taxi stand, and asked to arrange passes for Chankanaab. We negotiated a price for beach passes and were given wrist bands that said Uva beach. We thought that must be what the called the beach at Chankanaab. Turns our Uva is another beach club near Chankanaab that does not compare to videos I've seen of our intended destination. This was just out and out fraud as we were very specific regarding our intended destination.

Uva is trying and there appear to be a lot of improvements in process. The waterline is solid rough rock with a bridge over it to get to a sandy area beyond. The employees were very nice and at some point this might be a nice place. The pool is a plane rectangle that had no seating. The drinks were okay but it looked like the Patron tequila bottles were being refilled based on the wear and tear on the corks. There were four of us and about ten other people there.

My advice, taxis are cheap in Cozumel, this ride was $13 for four people. Head straight for the taxi stand if you know where you want to go and just ask the driver to take you there. Get off the ship early as some of these do reach capacity. We did this for Mr. Sanchos a couple years ago and everything was fine, taxi there is more like $18. You can reserve ahead, I think Mr. Sancho's is $5 fee to reserve. We did that once but a tropical storm cancelled the port so we lost that. I think they are $55pp total now, all inclusive. I think entrance to Chankanaab (my understanding is this is a state park) was $38 including use of snorkeling equipment but not all inclusive at that price.

Relax and Snorkel
Jan 2020
Very practical beach, you have everything there: snorkeling, kayaking, pub & restaurant, massages, shopping, etc.
I went on a tour and the package seemed very good for the content. It is economically accessible. Beware of the lounge chairs because there aren't many. Highly recommended

Drinks were good; tour misleading
Nov 2019
The tour was implied, though not stated outright, as an all-inclusive. It was not inclusive; it was selective and time dependent. The beach was very rocky, and the swim area was very small and crowded. There were plenty of chairs which were included in the price, and the staff were super friendly. The drinks were expensive and only included in the price for a specific 2 hour period when lunch was being served. People were set up selling things as is usual on most beaches in Cozumel, but they did take no for an answer.

Fun and inexpensive. Good value. Great for a family who loves the ocean.
Nov 2019
Clean and nice private beach with snorkling and kayaking included in the price of $20/person. There are security cameras all around the resort. They gave us a free drink when we walked in. Renting a locker is $5, but it is big enough to share. Nice outdoor restaurant with good food and a Mariachi band (good musicians!). Vendors selling the usual only exist inside the beach limits and they do not "hound" you! The snorkling is not great, but was fun anyway and there is a reef with a lot of fish. The beach area with chairs and pretty blue umbrellas is extremely clean. You can get a massage on the beach which my friend said was a really good massage. Drinks are good and not watered down. You can get scuba gear right next door. You have to take a taxi from the port, but it is not more than $12 and only a five minute ride. Very pretty and lined with palm trees and landscaped vegetation. We would go back.

Awful experience
Nov 2019 • Friends
Went to Cozumel port of call. Explored market (not worth it, same shops and pressured buying as everywhere else). Found a guy on the street selling passes to Uvas stating welcome drink, our own chairs on the beach, free lockers, snorkeling, paddle board and clear kayak. Photos showed hammocks as well also stated wifi would be available. He said taxi there would be $12 then back to port would be $5. Said mixed drinks would be $3/piece. Claimed he needed a deposit of half down and Should have known it would be too good to be true. We were to show up and find "Brenda", who was to have 4 chairs reserved for us. We arrived, found Brenda and paid the remaining half. Found out lockers cost more to rent, no hammocks. Never heard anything about wifi. Pool was tiny. Welcome drink was a limited selection. They were super pushy wanting us to purchase a food and drink package (which also had limitations, ie one beer available). The bartenders were amazing. Did get food which was good. Did not have reserved chairs as stated. Chairs were super uncomfortable. There was drink service at the beach, however not if you had the drink package. Attempted to get in the ocean and was told you are not allowed in with sunscreen on as it is a natural park, even though the sunscreen was reef safe and had no chemicals. They were happy to sell you sunscreen that was "allowed" and "reef safe" and $15/bottle. There was trash covering the beach. Interesting priorities. Was not worth the time, energy, money or taxi fare. Would not recommend!!!

Nice little get away!
Oct 2019
We had a great time at Playa Uvas while in Cozumel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beach was clean and relatively bug free. The water was clear and warm, and while there were a lot of rocky beach in front of the water, there was a nice walkway to bypass them. There were lots of fish swimming around us. I think my only real complaint was that there were a lot of other people coming and going that were there for the snorkeling excursion. No one was rude, it just made the water area a bit overcrowded at times. If you are looking for a low key place to soak up some sun and relax, this is a great place to go!

Don't hand over your license/id!!!
Oct 2019
Generally, it was a good experience. The beach was fine and the people where nice. But when we checked out snorkeling gear (which was included), they required a driver's license to hold. When I went to return the gear and pick up my driver's license, it was gone. It had been given to another person.

They were very irresponsible on how they handled and cared/secured such an important personal item. We were worried about being able to get back on the ship or having problems getting back in the country at the end of the cruise.

Apparently, they just gave him a license and didn't look at it closely. They accused the other person of being drunk and taking the wrong license. When we tried to identify if he was on the same cruise as me, they apparently didn't ask him for this information. So we did not know if we should try and go back to the ship and ask Carnival. There was another cruise ship in port on that same day and it was possible he was on it or staying in Cozumel. Because they didn't have this information I was unable to narrow down what to do.

I demanded that they give me his license so that he would be looking for me too when he realized that he had my license. They were fine with it and even showed me a stack of licenses that had been left behind in the past.

They didn't seem to think it was a big deal. Very disappointing. Oh and when we asked for a refund they said no. When we asked for them to at least pay for a taxi to get us back to the port, they said no.
