Overall this day trip was decent but the format should be changed. We left Montreal then got dropped off in Quebec City to meet a guide who took us on a 40 minute quick tour. Then we jumped back on the bus and went to Montmorency Falls for 30 minutes. Then we headed back to Quebec City where they drove us around for about 30+ minutes or so while the guide pointed out highlights as we drove by. There was no opportunity for lunch (unless you wanted to buy a sandwich and eat in the bus) and by the time we FINALLY got dropped off at Quebec City it was almost 2pm. If you wanted a nice sit down meal, you would have so little time to explore Quebec City. We had to meet the bus by 4:40pm to head back to Montreal. Knowing what I know now, we should have rented a car and driven up ourselves so we could have more time.

The tour could be greatly improved by either doing Montmorency Falls first then Quebec City with no interruption or visiting Quebec City first then Montmorency Falls at the end. For people who want a few facts and highlights and are not as mobile, this trip is adequate. If you want more time to explore Quebec City, then I would avoid this excursion. Our driver was EXCELLENT! Our tour guide was decent enough except with the size of the group and the crowded Quebec streets, you could not really hear him unless you were very close to him.

We were blessed with an operation that left on time and returned the same way. Our coach driver Norman was outstanding, not only driving the bus expertly around some very small roads, he also acted as a a guide when the official guide wasn’t onboard. He was clearly knowledgeable about the history and geography and without being intrusive regularly kept a patter up as we drove the 3 hours or so to Quebec City. Our guide Pierre was clearly very knowledgeable and provided a great explanation of what we were seeing and how to see more on our own time. The dual language of French and English was a nice touch.
The trip allowed us 3 hours of free time to wander around the city and see the parts that interested us the most after our orientation tour, which turned out to be just about perfect as an amount of time to eat, explore and return.

On the journey back we were dropped off near a fountain in the city, in my rush to get off the bus I left a phone in the seat pocket. After some panic and messages we were able to track the phone. The next day we went for an early morning run we were relived to hear that the message we left on the answer phone had been listened to before we arrived @7.30 am. The driver returned the phone untouched and with the credit card and drivers license still in the case. Top marks.

This was a great option for us, since we’d already had a wedding and lots of traveling. Easy meetup stop the tourist bus station, roomy and comfortable coach bus, and great tour. Started with a great introduction by our bus driver, who was kind enough to load our umbrella stroller under the bus, heading out from Montreal towards Quebec City. Bathroom stop halfway, grabbed coffee and food so we didn’t go hungry during the tour, and then a nap on the last half to Quebec City.

First stop, old Quebec City tour, around 40-45 min walking around the cobblestones streets and getting history. Bumpy for strollers but with the hills, it was definitely needed for our little one. Gave us recommendations to see after we came back for our afternoon free time. Peter/Pierre was out tour guide, spoke in French and English, and was lovely!

Second stop was Montmorency Falls, which was beautiful. 20 minute stop, nothing but a quick view and appreciation, and that was fine for us. If you want to climb the stairs or take a ride to the top, you’ll have to come back. This tour doesn’t have the time with the drive to Quebec City and the packed tours. It was plenty of time for us.

Last was free time in Quebec City, 3 hours. There is a ferry you can take around Quebec City and Levi, lasts about an hour, but we decided to stretch our legs and have a delicious lunch at Soprista outdoors. Complete with photos, lots of walking around, some shopping and then gelato before getting back on the bus.

Headed back to Montreal, and our bus driver was nice enough to wait for 3 people (2 separate parties) who were 10 minutes late to getting back (please don’t do that to everyone… be on time…). Same stop halfway back for a restroom and snack stop. Dropped people along at specific areas near hotels, we only had a 10 minute walk back to our hotel (took us 30 to get there in the am so we were very grateful).

Tipped $5 CAD to the guide as suggested, $7 CAD to the driver as requested. They explain the tips on the ride a couple of times, which was extremely helpful to know what was appropriate. They all were lovely and I highly recommend-so happy we did this instead of driving it ourselves! Nice tour day and break day in the shuffle of planning, driving, etc.

This tour was great for my husband and I. The bus driver was very funny and gave us some info and jokes along the way. Each stop seemed like just enough time at each place. We got about 2.5 hours of free time in Quebec City, which seemed like just enough time to get a meal and explore the shops since it's a very small city (the historic/touristy part at least). We also got the see the waterfall with just enough time to appreciate it and take some photos. A local your guide was picked up in Quebec city and gave us some history of the entire city while driving around the slightly "newer" parts of the city. Overall, it was a great tour and day. Highly recommend this tour!

This was a really nice day trip. Our bus driver was funny and knowledgeable and made great time to and from Quebec City, which is absolutely beautiful. There we met up with tour guide Roger Clavel who is highly experienced and knowledgeable. He showed us around the lower city for about 45 minutes, then we rode out to Montmorency Falls, then back to QC for about 3 hours of free time before we were back on the bus at about 5pm. Such a beautiful place.

Things to know if you go 1) they do not tell you when they will get you from your hotel. It is before 7:30. You have to call to find out. 2) they stop at a truck stop an hour in to the trip and you have 20 minutes to get a diner breakfast and pee. 3) they go to old town for a walking tour which is really great. Inexplicably you get back on the bus and go to the falls. You get 25 minutes at the falls so just enough time to get a quick photo and then back on the bus back to the city. We thought they would let us out for lunch but they drove around the city for another hour until about 2:30. They stop at the park on the fields of Abraham and let you out for 5 minutes to take a quick picture then back driving around. We were starving at this point. Once you take 40 minutes to eat you have about 2 hours to see the whole city. Advice: skip the falls and just stay in the city after the walking tour. It is also a drive through farm land not forest. It is 6 hours on a bus so bring something to do.

Well worth a visit with Gray Line Tours. The bus driver was extremely knowledgeable and informative during the journey. The tour guide in Quebec Katya was so well informed and very engaging. Quebec City is absolutely stunning and also the falls. Would recommend this trip.

5 out of 5 stars. Our driver was awesome and was bilingual for the English and French speakers. We covered a good amount of ground in Quebec City/Montmorency Falls and got about 2 1/2 hours to explore the Old Town section. I would recommend this tour for anyone wanting a fun getaway to see something different.

Firstly, the tour itself was well organized. Quebec City is a stunning portrait of quaint houses, eclectic shops and restaurants. Our tour guide was an older woman with curly gray hair (apologies for not remembering her name!) who had obvious pride in her heritage. She was funny and gave us a wealth of knowledge about Quebec, the interesting history between the French and English, in addition to recommendations for things to do for a longer stay in Quebec.

Montmorency falls is stunning, but we didn't get the full experience due to the brief visit. And I honestly thought we could have skipped the bus portion of the tour since Quebec is a walkable city.

Also, our tour bus broke down in the middle of the ride back, resulting in a 2 hour delay in getting back to Montreal ( I ended missing a jazz concert I really wanted to see as a result, so that was disappointing)

I appreciated the trip because of the brief glimpse of Quebec. I would definitely go back independently a spend a good 2-3 full days in the city.

I was picked up promptly at my hotel and brought to Grey Line’s main office from where we departed for Quebec. The bus driver was friendly (if not as amusing as he thought he was) and shared information on what we were passing on the drive.

When we arrived in Quebec, we were led by a local guide who was very informative and willing to answer questions from the group.

The areas we toured were very interesting and picturesque. I especially liked the Montmorency waterfall as well as the European feel of Place Royale.

After the approximately 2 1/2 hour guided tour concluded, we had ample time to explore on our own including having lunch and shopping.

Afterwards, the bus driver dropped us off at various points back in Montreal close to our hotels or other areas if agreed upon.

All in all, it made for a fun, informative and interesting day.
