- banglil0 contributionsAmazing adventure and superb staffs👍🏼👍🏼It was a very exciting adventure. Lam, David and Zon was very friendly and give good guidance. Lam and David took great care of all 5 of us. David came to rescue me and my husband when we both fell into the water and he is very experience and good. Lam also came to our rescue fast and even helped to retrieve my husband handphone which fell into the water. All I can say is kudos to all 3 staffs. They are very valuable and hope the company will not let them go. Thank you Lam, David and Zon👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼Written 27 August 2024

- Cautiousglobetrotter0 contributionsVery unique evening spent in natureBeautiful experience being out on the water at night. I felt such a sense of peace being under the stars and hearing the sounds of the waves. The scenery on the paddle out was lovely at sunset. After dark one felt a little removed from civilisation seeing the resort lights far in the distance. If you live in a big city like me, take this tour and this small sense of serenity only nature can truly provide.Written 2 April 2024
- romyw5440 contributionsGo for it!I was there with my kids and we had an awesome experience I would highly recommend! It is truly magical to paddle silently in this scenery and have the opportunity to appreciate bioluminescence!Written 5 February 2024
- bethanynle0 contributionsNice concept, but too much waiting around, and overpricedThis was a cool concept, but in practice wasn't very exciting. The group was too large, so there was a lot of waiting around for lights to be turned on and off, and not much actual kayaking/paddling. I didn't see anything interesting in the water through the bottom of my kayak (it was clear plastic, with a small light underneath it), and the bioluminescent plankton were sparkly but only visible when you splash the water and somewhat of a letdown. The two-person kayak was small, and the paddles we were given were the wrong length. The most exciting part was going through a couple of caves. I think this would be fun for people who haven't kayaked much or haven't already spent time snorkeling nearby. But we had just come from an amazing 6-hour longboat/snorkeling tour in Phi Phi where we saw sea turtles, manta rays, and sharks, so this was a disappointment that felt very overpriced. For reference, we booked some half-day or full-day tours that cost the same as this short activity.Written 5 February 2024

- Trail656338251470 contributionsTruly Amazing! It was an amazing experience. Sarah was super responsive and helped us with all travel directions we needed to get to the place. The tour was smooth and truly one of a kind. The guide took great care of our safety and ensured that we had the best time. When we were not able able to return our pier on time due to heavy sea currents post the tour, the team was kind enough to arrange a ride for us back to our hotel free of charge! I would definitely recommend everyone looking to tryout something unique to take this tour!Written 11 October 2023

- albertsuen0 contributionsVery friendly, professional and well equippedMy trip to Krabi was a very last minute decision and I really wanted to explore some nice scenery whilst paddling. Thanks to the team at Freebird Paddle for accommodating me at such short notice. Highly appreciated give it was Ramadan, Easter, Songkran all clumped together! My paddle guides Sun and Film were insightful and informative, providing great fun whilst bringing me new knowledge of the area. It’s very important to have someone that is familiar with the waters of any new area to ensure a safe and enjoyable paddle. For anyone who enjoys paddling I highly recommend you stop by at Freebird Paddle whenever you’re in KrabiWritten 8 April 2023
- Climber1121760 contributionsWish we would have been lateI'll start with a positive spin-I think this might be a fine tour if you're a family with minimal kayaking skills. Our group of 7 was greatly disappointed. This was a 2 hour tour that should have taken us 20 minutes. There was a lot of "let's go" followed by 5 paddle strokes and the leader would stop and everyone would start playing bumper kayaks. I wish I was kidding or exaggerating, but I'm not. This tour was nothing short of annoying to our group. Also, they had us arrive 30 minutes early and then told us to come back at 6. At that point everyone else had their life jackets on and were headed toward the beach. We caught up no problem, but it was just odd. The best thing I can say about this tour is that our group has a memorable story to tell, but it's not a story that reflects well on this tour.Written 23 March 2023
- WildStyle15840 contributionsMagical! My boyfriend and I went on the night tour. All the staff are very friendly and I felt safe being out on the ocean with them. Lam lead the tour. He was funny and charming. This tour is really something special. How often can you say you went SUP/ kayaking at night on a clear board/ kayak? It's pretty cool watching/ being of the group in the dark with all our lights on the equipment turned on. They took us through caves and around cliffs. We were able to get off the boards/kayaks to actually swim in the bioluminescent plankton if we wanted. Definitely recommend!Written 1 February 2023
- U7010YGkarinag0 contributionsFun to do with kidsWas great thing to do with my 9 yo son, he totally loved it. Instructors are experienced and caring, not very tiring activity to do but quite fun. We were blessed by the amazing sunset 🌅Written 20 June 2022
- Maryssaanneg0 contributionsLoved it!!My husband and I had a wonderful experience on this tour! Our guides were super amazing and we became friends with everyone so quickly. Super funny and enjoyable. We even saw the plankton as the weather was perfect for it! Even if we didn’t see the plankton, the clear kayaks and paddle boards made the experience super enjoyable because we could see all sorts of marine life! Loved it thank you!Written 9 June 2022
- loralorent0 contributionsa nice tour but nothing to write home aboutas a marine biology student, I was excited to be out on the water in a lit-up kayak looking at bioluminescence! I have seen bioluminescence before, and this sighting was okay and still exciting. the lit-up kayaks and paddle boards are very cool! as we were in 'off season' we did pay lower than standard price, and would not have considered the tour to be worth 2500B! the guide (Dam?) was funny and enthusiastic which was nice, but we didn't see too much and barely left the shore. also we were with other customers who (no fault of Freebird's) were inexperienced and nervous with water despite not travelling far enough where you could not stand or see the bottom, so I feel like we missed out on seeing much more and travelling further out because our guide was concerned about them which unfortunately wasted our time due to their inability to paddle. I understand nature as a tour guide myself so each trip I appreciate is different and guiding may require attention elsewhere - safety is paramount etc etc. a fun experience, something a little different and glad we experienced it anyway.Written 9 June 2022
- V1941JXstephanier0 contributionsNight Bioluminescent TourThis was a super fun experience! We didn’t get to see the sunset because it was too wavy on the west side, but it was fun nonetheless. The guides were funny and pleasant and the bioluminescent plankton is very cool!Written 27 May 2022

Did the bioluminescent paddle boarding which was a really good experience. You get to see the sunset, paddle board through caves and see the unique bioluminescent plankton, more than likely you’ll have a few fish jump on your board too. Lam was our guide and was excellent in explaining everything and is a great laugh. Highly recommended experience.

Lam is amazing, we are so happy you enjoyed your experience with him. Sunset, caves, fish, plankton, and a good time are all things we aim to throw into the mix.
Many many thanks, we hope to see you again one day!

Great experience even if I wasn’t much good at the paddle boarding! Lam and the other guides were very friendly and patient and it was a magical experience out on the water seeing both the colours of the sunset and the full moon rising above Railay bay. What a memorable way to spend a couple of hours in the warm sea, splashing around in the bioluminescence. Would definitely recommend the experience even for novice boarders.

Thanks so much Jo!
We are so happy you enjoyed our tour!! We do our best to make our trip beginner-friendly and a good time for all. Let's face it, you can't take yourself too seriously on a paddleboard, even the most experienced SUP'ers will make a splash once in a while :). We love those full moon tours and are so glad you did too.
Many thanks again and come back to see us anytime!!!

This is by far the best trip we did whilst in Thailand. We were met by John who is a ball of positive energy. We couldn’t decide between SUP or the kayaking tour, but went for SUP. We were both novices on the boards, but all the team went above and beyond to ensure we were happy and ok and after 10 minute lesson we were off paddling in the sunset. The bioluminescence was beautiful and we were lucky enough to see lots of fish and even bats. Thanks again to the Freebird team.

Thank you so much Lannab!
We are so happy to hear you loved your experience with us. It's a tough choice, the kayaks are great, but the SUPs are a ton of fun too! They give you the chance to learn something new if you are a first-timer, and jump in and swim with the bioluminescence, plus give you plenty of laughs.
Many thanks to you both and much love,

This was a pretty good tour and Jon, the guide, was high energy and ensured everyone had a good time. We were pushed out of the two locations by longtail boats and their weren't very high concentrations so it was a fleeting opportunity. The lowest point was the staff directing people to pair up or move from a SUP to kayak because they didn't bring enough of one or the other to the beach. In the end they didn't send as many guides as they planned. However, it was a really cool experience and I would recommend it again.

Hi David,
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We are glad you found your tour to be a really cool experience and thank you for your future recommendations!
We aren't sure we understand your points about poor coordination or being pushed out by longtail boats, but perhaps it's a translation issue.
As for staff directing people to pair up or move from SUP to Kayak, we are a bit confused from your description. We always bring the correct gear to the beach based on our customer's bookings. On occasion, though we heavily discourage it, customers will try to switch from SUP to Kayak or vice versa at the last minute. So we try to do our best to manage those rare occasions. We wouldn't ask another customer to change the gear they booked though. Save for one double kayak at the moment, all of the gear supports only one person (unless they have a small child). But of course, we will discuss this with the full team to find out more about your particular tour.
We are very sorry if you found our coordination to be poor and if that detracted from your experience.
Many thanks for joining us, and may you enjoy your travels here in Amazing Thailand.
Best wishes,
The Freebird Team

This is one of the most amazing experiences of my life! I did the clear kayak and the paddle board (both at night) and would DEFINITELY recommend to anyone staying in Railay! The guides are super knowledgeable and funny (thank you Mr. Bean and Mr. Sam!) and they make the trip even more amazing. Railay is breathtaking to see on the ocean at night. We paddled through a cave, saw jellyfish and other wildlife, and even swam with the bioluminescent plankton! Absolute 10/10

This is a fun way to get out on the water and see things from a different perspective. Some of the lights on the kayaks and boards broke but the tail end charlie headed back to shore and brought replacements and saved the day. We did it on paddle boards but in a bigger group of 8 kayaks and us 3 paddlers we often found ourselves being smashed into by novice paddlers knocking us off our boards so ended up knee paddling for most of it. If I did it again Id just go in a kayak. Once the lights were on fish kept jumping onto our boards or checking us out from underneath quite surreal. Saw quite a variety which was great and some very nice coral. Paddling through a cave was fun. Swishing the water we did see bioluminescence. Room for safety improvement. The guides weren't aware when one of us paddle boarders got knocked off our board in the dark (broken lights so wasn't seen) and this person got left behind. A guide calling out is everyone ok follow me doesn't really cut it n the dark as a group or individual check in. Maybe like we do in caving where it is dark and you cant always see everyone, give people numbers to call out so if a number is missing you know a guest is missing, take it a step further make it fun, teach them their number in Thai. Also no throw rescue line that I could see with the guide. Small improvements to an otherwise enjoyable night out on the water.

We went during the full moon and had a great time. We spent two weeks in Thailand and this was one of our favorite things we did. Very relaxing, interesting, and just a great way to spend a couple hours on the water. You can paddle around as much as you like for exercise. Guides were great. We saw the bioluminescence and it was really cool. Don’t listen to the haters this is a must do. Also railey beach has a great vibe. Such an awesome way to spend our last day before flying home. If you are one of those pain in the ass people don’t come ruin this place for the rest of us. Karen I’m looking at you.

I'm so glad you guys were able to soak up all the things that we love about this incredible place.
Thanks for giving us a good chuckle and keeping it real ;). We live in Paradise and get visitors from all over the world of absolutely every type so there is never a dull moment ;).

This was my second time taking this tour and it was every bit as amazing as it was the first time. The staff is incredibly kind and helpful. They will assure that you will stay safe and have a great time. The views leading up to sunset are stunning. As long as you research the ideal times to view the plankton (light pollution degrades the experience, so closest to a new moon phase would be ideal) you have a great chance of experiencing something truly unique. I highly recommend this tour if visiting Krabi.

Very friendly staff who ensured that everyone was comfortable and safe. They catered to all ability levels and even towed those who struggled a bit with their kayaks. We are a family with two young children and were encouraged to use the SUPs (vice kayaks) which was good advice. The SUPs were easier to steer and our kids could pop into the water for a swim. It was a lovely full moon, and it was magical to paddle at night. Saw squid, a ton of bats, green coral, and lots of fish. Even though the full moon made it more difficult to see the bioluminescent plankton, the staff brought us to a dark cave where we could see the plankton more easily. Altogether a really fun and unique experience!
