A bad start, but overall good experience.
We are Brighton residents, but have never been on the tour. We went twice in 3 days. The first trip got off to a bad start. I took my autistic son (8), my daughter (4) and a teenager who I work with. Two of our party have a disability. Upon boarding the bus, my son became overwhelmed and upset about something and made a lot of noise. The driver became impatient and (whilst I struggled to manage my son's needs and ordering the tickets) the driver said to me, "would you please get to the point." This was upsetting and disappointing. I found myself having to firmly advocate for myself and my son, asking for a little bit of time to manage the situation. Despite this, all the children loved the experience. Thankfully, the second time we boarded, two days later, the driver was very friendly and helpful. He greeted the children cheerfully and helped me to access the available discounts.

    How CitySightseeing Brighton stands out
The live tour was amazing I would recommend it plus I got a student discount not available with many CitySightseeing lines elsewhere.

    Great tour
Did the red route tour and found the tour really interesting. Staff very friendly and helpful. Booked on line before the day. Please note they need paper print outs of reservation as they can’t accept e copies off your phone. Staff were so helpful.

    Great Bus Tour
Having not been on a open-top bus tour for some years, we decided to try this and we're not disappointed. Staff were friendly and the ticket price gives access to all three tours and travel on other Brighton buses on the day of purchase. The pre-recorded commentary is interesting and available in a number of languages. Due to time constraints, we only ended up doing the City tour but would definitely come back in the future to try the others. I have one tip if you're considering this - just because it may seem warm on the ground doesn't mean that it'll be the same on an open top bus - the final part of the tour along the clifftop Marine Parade made me wish I'd worn a long-sleeved top!

    Fantastic
The staff are incredibly friendly. The routes are interesting with commentary throughout so that you get a nice history lesson of Brighton. You can go on all 3 routes which I think is fantastic. The ticket also works on all the other buses in Brighton so I'd recommend getting the 2 day pass as a single trip in Brighton on a bus is over £2. I'd recommend bringing a blanket too!

Didn’t see one hop on hop off bus
Went to Brighton and was looking forward to going on this bus but I didn’t see any in sight. When I asked around they mentioned maybe this service does not run during the colder weather and someone even mentioned the service ended end of September, but this was not mentioned on the site. We did have a great day at Brighton and the weather was great for the i360.

    Well worth the visit
Due to the weather we were only able to do the one tour and not the three. We did the City Tour. The driver was very informative about Brighton. The ticket price of 13.00 per adult for the three tours great value for money.

    Fun
Booked this trip, even though I know the town well, but was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Fantastic (if slightly tacky) commentary and pace. I sat at the back of the top deck, snapping brainlessly and filming the sights, going so far as to repeatedly ignore the ‘don’t stand up’ policy, for which I was rightly told off at the end by the thoroughly professional driver, Debbie. Sorry for making your job harder Debbie. Rode the Red route - Wish I’d bought the option of a two-day ticket to try the Blue and Green routes - think it’s not much more to upgrade from the one-day family ticket? I would say, if you’re like me, what will make-or-break the bus ride for you will be how busy it is onboard... I rode the City Sightseeing Brighton route with the family and fewer than 8 other passengers. This makes the whole thing relaxing, as I’ve found that other bus tours with sharp-elbowed, ruthless, and loud co-tourists makes for cramped seating, distractions and obstructed views. I would recommend you do this in bad weather when the gormless day trippers from Brixton, East Ham and Africa avoid the seafront? Top marks to the staff and management.

    Day Trip to Brighton
One of the best sightseeing tours we've been on. There are 3 different routes, each taking about 1 hour, and the ticket price (£17 adult, £10 Senior) covers all three tours, so throughout the day we spent over 3 hours seeing all the sights in and around Brighton. Devils Dyke, on the country tour, would have been great to stop off at, if we'd known in advance exactly what was there, but time prevented us doing so. Wonderful views across the countryside and back to Brighton, or just watch hang-gliders above. Good, clear, informative commentary on all tours and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. We would certainly recommend it, especially if you only have one day to see all the sights. We would have had to drive to the furthest reaches of the tours, so it was great to not have to do so.

    Poor quality buses.
Went on the city tour last week. We have always used the City Sightseeing brand in cities throughout Europe - Lisbon, Athens, Berlin, Prague, Budapest, Copenhagen, Edinburgh & Nice. We were on the first tour of the day - only one other person on board. Had to ask the driver to stop as we would not get the audio to work properly - poor signage about languages available and also how to increase the volume. Perhaps the problem was just with our bus, but it could do with an upgrade. Not impressed by the Brighton franchise.

    What happened to the commentary?
We went on this about 8 years ago where the commentary was entertaining informative full of real stories music effects and using known voices of real actors. Now it’s over priced, very poor and misses out lots of what was originally portrayed! It’s a no and far too expensive and not very comfortable either. Staff indifferent and disinterested without any knowledge of the history of the city and it’s incredible reputation for the individulaity!

    Great.
We did the city tour and the coastal tour. Very informative. Great way to spend the afternoon. If we had more time, we would have done the country tour also.

    Good but beware!
We were on holiday in the area and decided this would be a good idea to see the sights and learn some of the history....which turned out to be worthwhile and interesting, however........we planned our day out the day before purchasing tickets online, email delivered to my device with tickets attached as a PDF file, please print out......doh I'm on holiday!! I wrongly assumed that by showing the driver the attachment which had a reference code etc that this would be sufficient......NO, an actual piece of paper is required 😠. So people if like us you try to get organised make sure you have access to a printer or find somewhere/one that will print your PAPER ticket for you and enjoy the tour

    Really informative.
Went on the two new tours they've launched this year, to Devils Dyke, and to Saltdean. The commentary was very interesting, and as a Brighton resident, taught me a lot about the city I love, and showed me places I never would have thought of going to. Thoroughly recommend. My drivers Kevin, and Joe did a marvellous job too!

We arrived in plenty of time for first tour. Extremely rude driver would not let us board the bus with a PDF/code on bus. Apparently they will only accept printed tickets , very retro and totally ridiculous in this day and age very anti environment. We were forced to find a print shop, pay a ridiculous fee to have the voucher printed . We arrived at the bus almost 1 hour later and all the driver did was look at the print out , he noted the reservation number , that was on the original PDF and let us board. Your was boring and a total waste of money. Avoid like the plague !

Hi Peter, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear about your negative experience with us. Unfortunately we cannot accept mobile vouchers as we are unable to scan the QR code. However we will be able to accept mobile vouchers on our tours very soon. I'd be interested to hear more about why the tour was boring so we can look improve. I'm more than happy for you to email if that is easier? My email is city.sightseeing@buses.co.uk. Thank you again for your feedback. I hope you do return with us again in future. Dull trip but the problem was booking. Booked online only to have to join a queue on the appointed day to change to paper tickets, while those without prior bookings presented their credit card and were able to board the bus before we could. What was the point! Have since spent ages trying to unsubscribe from endless marketing emails- they make it very difficult and time consuming. A frustrating experience.

Hi @Denise35Uk, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear about your frustrating experience. Unfortunately we haven't been able to set up the vouchers to accept on our ticket machines at present and requires the customer to exchange their voucher for a ticket with the correct QR code on (that allows you unlimited travel on the tour bus and on all Brighton & Hove Bus services). We will be looking to improve the customer experience and look to invest in new technology soon. I appreciate you taking the time to write your feedback and will use this towards improving our services. Have a good day. Kind regards, Lewis Jackson - Business Development Manager

We go on a lot of city breaks and ALWAYS use this company and love the hop on hop off tours. This one was fine although unlike other cities where we use the bus to help us jet around we only done the circuit once and didn't need to use it again. Really good if you don't want to walk though!

Did the bus tour with my 14 year old. Very informative and got free headphones. It was £21 for us both and you could hope 9n and off as many times as you wmated and could even go on different buses all the way Eastbourne. The driver was nice and the man who we got our tickets from was ice and informative.

We decided to do the bus tour of Brighton whilst visiting recently. Bus driver was helpful and cheerful. We hopped off for breakfast at The Breakfast Club and then hopped back on and enjoyed the tour. We didnt realise the length of the pier and the marina area was lovely. Definately worth doing and ear phones were included in the price with interesting information.

£14 per person for a 45min bus journey. You access the tour guide via headphones, but we found quiet a few of the sockets were faulty, so we had to move around to a few different seats.

Because the tour wasn't live, it was hard to connect what was being spoken about, with what you're seeing. However, if you fancy a rest after a busy day shopping, there's some interesting history to listen to and pleasurable sights while giving your feet a break buy still enjoying the sun!

We boarded at 3.30pm on a Saturday, the driver was lovely and we had the whole upper deck to ourselves which was a real bonus. And don't panic when it says to print off the voucher - we booked an hour before boarding, but the driver said he could write the ref no. down

Hi OziasJay, Thank you for your review. We value all of our feedback received. I apologise for the inconvenience caused with the faulty sockets. It sounds to me there might have been a few teething issues with the units. I will have this rectified ASAP. With all of our tour tickets, we include unlimited travel on both the Brighton Tour and all Brighton & Hove Bus services too so you get a choice to travel beyond Brighton afterwards. I'm pleased we were able to accept your mobile voucher. We will be able to scan these moving forward which will speed things up even more. Thank you again for your feedback. Please feel free to get in touch any time - city.sightseeing@buses.co.uk. Have a good day. Had a wonderful time. So good we did the tour twice to benefit from the transport to each site. Both times were woth a lovely woman Charlie. This was the forst time they trialled live tours and Charlie was amazing at keeping it all interesting amd funny, no doubt the rest deliver the same energy. Reccomend for forst timers seeing Brighton like myself to see the sights and get your bearings quickly and in a fun way.

For the first time I booked for a City tour. We enjoyed it so much that my husband doesn't want to get off the tour bus as he is enjoying it. The weather was lovely and we get to sit on top front row. The view from were we seated was amazing that my daughter loves it. We didn't know that Brighton has so much history.. I highly recommend anyone if ever they go and visit Brighton never miss the opportunity of City Tour! Thank you so much to our driver that day!

Charlie was a great sales rep and enticed us to buy a two day ticket, which I’m sure we will enjoy using. The tour itself was interesting and informative. We were lucky to have Charlie doing a live talk so there was humour and her personality adding to the commentary. She’s a confident, capable young person and she did a great job at making the tour more personable and looking after us.

Brighton is an interesting place so this was an interesting trip. Cost us a tenner each and it lasted an hour with a informative and mostly interesting commentary. Always a good way to orientate yourself in a town you haven't visited in30 years
