What to expect
Make your own way to the meeting point in central London in the morning and settle into your air-conditioned vehicle with your guide and separate driver. Then, soak in the views as you head toward Oxfordshire. Along the way, admire the rolling pastures and stone villages of the Cotswolds, the quintessentially English region of hills where much of the award-winning Downton Abbey series was filmed. Arrive in the charming Cotswolds village that doubled as the fictional Downton, and hop out for a guided tour. Stroll through the pretty lanes to see the church and buildings that served as the village pub, the former home of Matthew Crawley, and Downton Cottage Hospital as your guide shares anecdotes and behind-the-scenes gossip about the much-loved series, and its actors and storylines. After a bit of free time here, continue to Highclere Castle, the beautiful Jacobean-style mansion that served as the Crawleys’ family home in the drama. On route, learn about the castle’s 1,000-year-old history and intriguing snippets about life ‘above and below stairs.’ On arrival, take in the splendid gardens and turreted exterior of the 19th-century house, and head inside. Enjoy ample time to explore the above-stairs rooms independently using a self-guided information sheet, including the main hall, drawing room, and library. Immerse yourself in the world of the Crawley family as you walk around, building a picture of what real life was like here more than 100 years ago, in the era the series was set. If you wish, visit the café at Highclere for a light lunch, or perhaps bring a picnic to enjoy in the beautiful grounds. Afterward, relax on your return journey, ending your tour with a drop-off in central London.

Fantastic Downton Experience
Aug 2019 • Couples
My mother and I travelled from Australia very excited to experience and see the place that started the phenomenon of downton Abbey. We were certainly not dissapointed. Eva was a very approachable, bubbly and knowlegable guide. She was responsive to questions and had a thorough understanding of the village, filming locations and highclere itself. We were also treated to a quiz for the diehard Downton Abbey fans as well as some episodes while driving to the locations. Overall I would definitely reccomend this tour to anyone from Downton Abbey fans to the remotely curious of highclere castle. Do note however, through no fault of the tour company or guides. You can't take photos inside the castle, but you can take photos of the village and castle grounds.

Castle Definitely Worth A Visit
Aug 2019
The castle and gardens definitely worth a visit. We were a group of 15. This was the first time the driver had done this run and he drove far too fast. On a couple of the country roads where there were ruts and pot holes he drove so fast that a number of times we were thrown up in the air and shot forward. If we had not had seat belts there could have been some nasty accidents. On the way back through London he hit a number of kerbs as he drove round corners. The tour guide did not give my friend and I instructions where to meet the group again after we made a toilet stop which meant we had to wander round the village alone for an hour asking locals where the places were we wanted

Great day trip from London for Downton Abbey fans
Aug 2019
My wife and I really enjoyed this tour. Our guide and driver were great and gave us a lot of details on how they film the Downton Village scenes. It's hard to believe that most of the filming took place in about 300 feet on one street in the town of Bampton. In addition the castle was great to see in person, if you are a fan you don't want to miss this tour.

Great tour
Aug 2019
The small group tour of Bampton and Highclere was outstanding. Eva was an amazing guide, with extensive knowledge of the village of Bampton and the production of Downton Abbey. I highly recommend it for Downton fans.

A Lot of Fun
Jul 2019
Sadly, we remember neither the driver's nor the tour guide's names, but the driver did his work competently, and our tour guide kept the lengthy drive to and from Highclere lively. We watched scenes from Downton Abbey, she told us some history of Highclere castle, dished lots of trivia about the show, and challenged us against each other with a Downton Abbey quiz. Of course, spending time outside and inside the castle inspires awe, and we enjoyed connecting with fellow Downton Abbey fans.

A fun and enjoyable day
Aug 2019
The tour guide was great and the small van comfortable and clean. We enjoyed the videos of the series and great information our guide gave. We enoyed the garden very much. They were spectacular and a total surprise . We had not know they were as lovely or extensive. The lunch at the House is good but the bees were intent on sharing our meal. I am not sure what you do anything about this except find a table away from the waste cans.
We would highly recomend this tour. Wish it was a little less expensive but still a nice tour.

Awesome tour!
Aug 2019 • Family
We toured with Elise, and she was wonderful. She was very knowledgeable about both the show, and the real castle. The group was 15, which was perfect, not too big. We watched some episodes on the drive which made the time pass nicely. I have nothing but good things to say about this experience. My mother and I enjoyed it very much, and would highly recommend it for any big downton fans.
