Great Tour for the Morse, Lewis and Endeavour fan
Sep 2020
Wonderful tour for the Morse, Lewis and Endeavour fan! Lots of lovely insights, stories as well as some local and historical context. Elizabeth was an excellent guide, I particularly liked the stories she had about Colin Dexter and relating the locations to the episodes in which they were featured.

Thank you very much for reviewing our tour and we are delighted that you enjoyed. Colin Dexter was such a lovely man and we were very lucky to have met him so that we can now share stories with you all! With best wishes Heidi and Elizabeth

Great weekend
Feb 2020
Really enjoyed our tour yesterday with Heidi. The timing was perfect with a new series of Endeavour starting tonight. Going into the church and dining area at Oriel College was a wonderful experience. We had a fantastic weekend but this two hour tour was the highlight.

Private Tour for my Dad's 70th Birthday
May 2019 • Couples
Paid for a tour for just 3 or us for my Dad's birthday and we all learnt so much in such a short time that we all feel inspired to re-visit the city and to watch and read more Morse.

My first communication was with Heidi via email where I expressed an interest in the tour. She replied very quickly with a detailed but personal response letting me know the tour options available to me and what to expect. After a few more emails she sent me a lovely laminated keepsake voucher for my Dad to receive on the day. She was even happy to recommend some places to have lunch before the tour.

The lady that took the tour was Leigh who was welcoming and bubbling with enthusiasm throughout the 2 hours. We liked that there was no set plan but instead that we nipped down this road and that road and Leigh filled us with links to the books, films and showed us photos of her own experiences meeting the cast and crew on-site.

Many thanks to Walking Tours of Oxford for a great overall experience and for making my dad happy on his birthday:-)

This is such a special special review and really made my day! When you contacted me all those months ago, I really wanted to ensure that your Dad had the best birthday experience possible. I knew that Leigh would be a great guide for your group! It means such a lot to both Leigh and myself to receive these review and know that all our hard work is appreciated. We both love our jobs and it is after finishing a tour like this and meeting such wonderful people that we know why we do what we do! Thank you for taking the time to leave this review! With warmest wishes Heidi and Leigh

Five Star tours and five star tour guide

Not sure I can add anything new to 1,021 reviews of which 95% are excellent. You do not have to read any further… Walking Tours of Oxford gives a first class tour and I highly recommend them!
We are a group of four couples visiting the Oxford area for the first time. We stayed for three nights and wanted to ensure we made the most of our time there. Based on our prior travels ,we knew the best way to do this is to use “top notch” local guides. Our plan was to spend one day in the Cotswolds, one day touring Oxford and one day of downtime.
Our Cotswold day was superb (I did a separate review for that day). Our day in Oxford with Heidi and Walking Tours of Oxford was equally superb.
There are many tour options and operators in Oxford. I did a lot of research before settling on Walking Tours of Oxford and truly believe I could have not have selected a better tour provider. -
The overall great experience started with the very informative, and simple to navigate, website. Heidi quickly and thoroughly responded to each of my email questions – and there were many, as I am a stickler for details. We ultimately decided to do two private tours for our group. We did a Morse/Lewes/Endeavour in the morning, followed by a lunch break at a local pup, and Simply Oxford University + Christ Church Tour in the afternoon.
The group all agreed Heidi was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Morse/Lewes/Endeavour and Oxford details. In addition, Heidi was also engaging and friendly. We learned many fun tidbits relating to Morse/Lewis/Endeavour as well as many interesting and historical details of Oxford. We saw places in Oxford we would never have found by ourselves and Heidi did a great job explaining how the University and Colleges system works.
I highly recommend Walking Tours of Oxford and will be taking additional tours with them next time we are in Oxford.

What a super special review, thank you Ned as it means a lot to me. You are right that there are many operators now in Oxford and many people will just turn up and join a tour without doing any research and I do think that planning is very important! I do love my job and meeting you and the 'crew' and being able to show you Oxford was an absolute pleasure. I did do the list of episodes that you asked for you and will get the emailed across shortly. Thank you again and with warmest wishes to you all. Heidi

A Morse Masterclass
Feb 2018 • Couples
Just back from a wonderful 2 hour city tour of Oxford and all things Morse. Our guide Elizabeth proved to be a fountain of knowledge about many different aspects of Morse, Lewis and Endeavour as well as providing many interesting insights into the man behind Morse- Colin Dexter. The tour was perfect - an ideal gift for my wife for Valentines Day. Highly recommended. John and Amanda.

Dear Amanda and John Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this review. Elizabeth remembers the tour with you on 24th Feb. What a great valentine's present - I do think that an 'experience' makes a great gift and we can offer gift vouchers for any of our tours. Thank you again and very best wishes. Heidi and Elizabeth

The Dead of Winter
Nov 2017 • Couples
None of the Morse/Lewis/Endeavour episodes lend themselves to a witty pun for a title but our walk at the end of November was absolutely freezing, so close enough. Heidi our guide was however brilliant and was able to take us into a couple of colleges and other places to tell the story while letting us thaw [ho ho] out. The 2 hour walk was a nice balance of general Oxford background and specifics from the series taking lots of opportunities to point out "here was where etc...". We don't live that far from Oxford so there was plenty of food for thought for our next visit too. Would thoroughly recommend.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this review, I really appreciate it. It certainly was cold that day but I am glad we managed to find some refuge from the cold. November is such a great time to visit as it maybe cold but so much quieter! Wishing you all a very happy New Year. Best wishes Heidi

Great Oxford Tour
Dec 2017 • Couples
So glad we chose Walking Tours of Oxford to show us around town. Not only did we get to see the various Morse etc. locations, Heidi shared some great insights into the University and the connections to Alice in Wonderland...had no idea about any of that. If you are going to visit Oxford, give these guys a call!

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this review, I greatly appreciate it! The best way to see Oxford is with a fully qualified guide as there is so much to discover and you can miss a lot if you attempt to do independently! With very best wishes and Happy New Year! Heidi
