About
Leave Belfast to visit filming locations used in the ‘Game of Thrones’ TV series on a private tour, and explore the UNESCO-listed Giant’s Causeway, too! While the epic fantasy drama has been filmed all over Europe, many of the key scenes are filmed in Northern Ireland. See iconic sites with a ‘Game of Thrones’ expert as your private guide, and hear insider gossip about popular characters like Tyrion Lannister. After visiting places such as Ballytown, Carrick-a-Rede and Ballintoy Harbour, enjoy free time to explore the rocks at the Giant’s Causeway.

What to expect
  • Depart from your Belfast hotel in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle and admire the scenic Irish countryside as your guide offers an insightful introduction to the region and its associations with hit fantasy drama, Game of Thrones. Stop first in the quaint town of Cushendun to see the caves in which Melisandre of Asshai gave birth to her ‘shadow baby’, and then enrich your knowledge of trysts between prominent families like the Westeros.  Travel onward to Ballycastle to see the site on which Varys was born, and then continue down the atmospheric Dark Hedges road, a shady trail covered by a natural archway of intertwined trees. Capture shots of one of Ireland’s most photographed locations, also the place in which Ayra Stark dressed as a boy, and then head to the nail-biting Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge.  Although the iconic bridge is not connected to Game of Thrones, crossing the bridge is sure to result in the same kind of exhilaration as watching the show. Stroll over the suspended structure and gaze down at the crashing Atlantic Ocean as you summon your courage to cross to the other side.  Revitalize with lunch at the location used as the fictional Lordspot Harbour (own expense) and then enjoy some leisurely free time at the Giant’s Causeway on arrival at the UNESCO-listed site. Marvel at the mystifying stone hexagons featured regularly in the series before returning to your minivan for the journey back to Belfast.  Make a final stop at Downhill Strand, featured as Dragonstone in the show, and then bid your private guide farewell at your Belfast hotel.

Wonderful
I did the full day private Giant’s Causeway tour with Lewis. He picked me up at my hotel in a very comfortable vehicle. We drove along the beautiful Antrim coast. I have never seen so many rainbows and double rainbows in my life. The coastal route is spectacular and Lewis kept up a running commentary that was both interesting and informative. The Giant’s Causeway was the highlight of a very enjoyable day. Dunluce Castle and the Dark Hedges were worth seeing. After a full day, I was glad to be dropped off at my hotel.

Efficient, Comprehensive; Highly dependent on the tour guide
Jul 2019
Unlike it’s Belfast competitor, this tour caters more to die hard and new fans of the show (and non fans too). Our tour guide/drive was Derek, who is known for his corny jokes, strong opinions on GOT character, and all around gregarious fun nature. I swear the tour was much more fun simply because of Derek. He made you laugh, he called out ppl (in a fun way) but through it all, he was always highly accommodating to any of our needs and made the 12-13 hour days as much fun as possible. You can also tell that he loves what he does and it show through clearly in his stories and passion for the city of Belfast and the growing tourism industry.

An amazing tour!
Feb 2020
We did a private tour through McComb's Coach Travel on 29 February and Keith was our guide. He was very professional and gave us a lot of information related to Game of Thrones filming sites. He played short videos showing the episodes filmed at various locations we visited.

We stopped at the rope bridge minutes before a wind storm moved in. Our next stop at the Giant's Causeway was exciting due to the weather but well worth it! We had a good lunch at a cafe and did a quick stop at Old Bushmills Distillery. We also stopped at a jewelry store that produced some of the jewelry for Game of Thrones.

Keith was knowledgeable about past and current history and we appreciated his insights. I was especially impressed by the brief history he gave us of the Peace Wall in Belfast. He also told us about other things to do in the area, which was helpful.

Great tour with beautiful locations
Jul 2019
If a private tour is within your budget, definitely go for this one! We were in Belfast in the summer when many locations are crowded with the big coach tours. Being in a smaller group you have more flexibility with your itinerary and the smaller van can go to locations the larger coaches can't.

Our driver Troy was great and provided us with a good mix of GoT knowledge, history and local lore. All of the locations are stunning and it was nice to be able to enjoy them at our own pace.

Awesome Day with Troy
Sep 2019 • Couples
Highly recommended!!! Nice to sit back and relax with Troy who provided all his insight, laughs and knowledge. No pressure on time frames, went at our own pace and provided suggestions and tips along the way. The private tour in a nice large coach to ourselves with hotel drop off and pickup went perfectly.

Thanks from your Arizona peeps,

Unbelievable
We booked a private tour with McComb’s. We did not want to be shuttled en masse in a huge coach bus. Was not as cheap as a coach bus, but definitely worth the extra money. Our driver, Paul, was great. We identified a few key spots we wanted to see and Paul found time to show us a few more. McComb’s private tour was almost 2x the cost of Paddy’s private tour and we were skeptical about spending the extra money. No doubt worth it, long way to drive, McComb’s small coach was extremely comfortable. Thanks Rodney and Paul!!

Excellent tour!
May 2019 • Family
We requested a private tour for our family of five so that we could see as much of Ireland as possible during our one day visit while in Belfast. Boy, were we happily satisfied! Our tour guide Troy was excellent! He arrived promptly at the port in the morning and quickly whisked us away in our private van in order to beat the large crowds and motor coaches at various touristy attractions. We visited several Game of Thrones locations and many other stops along the way. Troy is very knowledgeable and provided quite a bit of humor to keep us entertained. He really took the time to ask what we were most interested in seeing and even took us to a quaint local cafe for lunch. Needless to say, we were exhausted by the end of the day having covered so much ground, but we all agreed it was a great experience! Thank you, Troy!

You don't need to know about the show to have an amazing time!
May 2019 • Friends
One of the best days in our 5 week adventure!! From the moment we stepped on the bus Darren our driver gave us an amazing experience. This man can talk about anything with good knowledge...from the history of the land and people to politics around the world he was Great!! (He also has a great manicure ..well at least on two fingers that we noticed!) Haha

From the views, to the history, to how the filming was done, he kept us entertained! It was so great to get out of the city and see the beauty of Northern Ireland. Highly recommend to everyone....even if you've never seen the show!! We're considering a summer home here!!

Thanks Darren - from the Canadian mom and daughter!

Patrick: the besteros tour guide
Oct 2018 • Friends
We were picked up at 9am at our AirBnb by Patrick, our driver, who greeted us chirpily to start off the tour. We visited a variety of locations which were all really fascinating and he gave us little clips of where they feature in the series which was really helpful. He also took us to Carrick-a-rede, the rope bridge, which was really stunning and Giant's Causeway which is a must-see for Northern Ireland! We'd like to thank Patrick for not only extensive knowledge of the series and anecdotal commentary and smooth driving but also the extra information we learnt about Northern Irish history and the culture here!

Would definitely recommend!
