Great family friendly event to learn more about the history of Edinburgh in a relaxed and fun setting.
Information was communicated in an entertaining manner, making it easy to retain the factual details being shared. Audience participation brought the experience to life and met some interesting characters.
Would highly recommend this tour, and if you have time at the end, visit the store to pick up a souvenir of your experience.

The Ghost and Gore Tour is truly delightful. Led by the deceased Sir Clapperton and a host of rapscallion characters, the tour is all at once amusing, rather frightening, interesting, and a non-strenuous walk. Sir Clapperton and his associates clearly know Scotland, Edinburgh, and the most arcane facts of both. The combination of early November sunset and dark shadows cast in the alleyways and courtyards of the neighborhood make for a truly creepy excursion.

Alex Clapperton was a very entertaining and knowledgable host who took us on a very interesting walk around the city of Edinburgh. He made the tour very entertaining and had very funny masked associate to role play some of the historical stories he was telling us about. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who wants to see the city from another perspective and find out more about the history whilst having a good laugh with whoever you’re visiting with.

The tour is brilliantly led by Andrew Clapperton (deceased) and ably assisted by an array of amusingly ghostly historical characters who literally pop up along the way completely out of the blue. You get to see some of Edinburgh’s historic closes, hear some ghoulish stories from the past, but it’s all laced with humour. There are lots of good surprises (and I still can’t work out how all those birds were made to fly immediately over us just at the perfect time).

Highly recommended - one of the highlights of my visit to Edinburgh.

Can highly recommend this tour. Very entertaining from the outset. Great to learn some of the gruesome history of Edinburgh in a fun way. The guides interacted very well with the whole group with the obvious ‘can I have a volunteer please’ meeting with stony silence so someone was an unlucky victim. A must for anyone visiting the city. Great value for money especially as you receive a Witchery Tales booklet included in the price.

I had an amazing night with the famous deceased Alex Clapperton as our guide, telling us all the gruesome facts and tales of Edinburgh Old Town. Despite we had a small tour (only 3 people), Mr Clapperton still did a great job to keep everyone entertained. I will certainly join their other tour the next time and recommend this tour to every single one of my friends when they visit Edinburgh.

Due to the pandemic, Edinburgh is so quiet in the evenings nowadays, making this tour even spookier, and I recommend everyone to support local small business like them, they are the backbone of our society. Another round of claps for Mr Clapperton!

Both performers were absolutely amazing!! Really sold the tour and made it so enjoyable!, the range of the actor with multiple characters was seriously impressive. Lovely men too, very funny and up for a chat. Highly recommend to anyone, even if you only have a small interest in history it’s such a fun time.

Having been on a few ghost walks around Edinburgh, I can honestly say, the Witchery Ghost & Gore Tour has honestly been the best. The live actors were highly impressive with their knowledge of the city; put on a fantastic show; stayed true to character and made the experience fun for everyone on the tour. Can’t thank Mr Clapperton and his colleague enough for a really fun night. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to partake in a ghost walk around Edinburgh when you visit.

Had a fun time and learned a lot. The guide wasn't just informative but funny as well. The little skits put on by the "ghosts" to help explain the past were hilarious and entertaining. The content was obviously sometimes gore-filled but there were plenty of kids in attendance who acted as volunteers to demonstrate certain aspects of the past and they all seemed to really enjoy it all regardless. We ran late and arrived just as the guide was doing a "final call" along with another group of people but it wasn't an issue. Very friendly guides!
