Highlights
  • Combine the sights of the Scottish Highlands in a single tour from Edinburgh
  • Eliminate the need for renting a car with round-trip transportation
  • Focus on scenery and guide commentary while someone else drives
  • Opt to take a cruise on Loch Ness at an additional cost
What to Expect
Meet your guide and group in central Edinburgh to board your vehicle bound for Inverness. Enjoy the fact that you don't have to puzzle over logistics or traffic. Pass the Forth Railway Bridge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and stop in Pitlochry for a snack (own expense). Drive through Cairngorms National Park, where you can focus on taking in the views while your guide narrates information about the landscape. At Loch Ness, spend some free time to visit Urquhart Castle and eat lunch (own expense). Cruises on the loch are available at additional cost. Move on to Glen Coe, a landscape composed of waterfalls, rivers, ridges, and mountain peaks. Your guide fills you in on the ancient MacDonald clan that resided here before turning back toward Edinburgh. Pass Stirling Castle, and learn about its history with William Wallace and the Battle of Stirling Bridge. Return to Edinburgh for drop-off.

The itinerary of this tour needs to be seriously reworked. It's inevitable that a trip to the Highlands from Edinburgh will involve a lot of driving, but it felt like we did practically nothing but drive because of how the tour was scheduled. We inexplicably stopped for long

Response from ExperienceTeam, Front Office Manager at Scottish Highlands, Loch Ness and Glen Coe Day Trip from Edinburgh

Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to give feedback for your tour. This is quite a long tour as it does cover over 500km of Scotland. Loch Ness is the most requested destination for visitors to Scotland as it is known world-wide, and in order to reach it in a one day tour does require a lot of driving. We ensure that we balance short photo opportunities with longer rest stops and activity stops, and are never driving for more than 2 hours continuously. The route which we take follows the two main roads in the Highlands and allows for access to the Cairngorm National Park, Loch Ness, Ben Nevis, Glen Coe, the Rannoch Moor – all the sights which people request to see whilst travelling with us. To ensure passengers see as much as possible, this tour does run on a detailed schedule to avoid disappointment. Whilst you do spend a lot of time travelling on the bus on this tour, it is due to the fact that you are trying to cover such a lot of distance in one day, and the route takes you through the majority of the Highlands with many spectacular sights to see on the entire journey. Thanks again for your feedback, we are constantly looking to improve our tours and as part of our customer experience review will include your valuable feedback. Kind Regards, Kirsty

This tpuor was really great! Mark was out tour guide and he has a lot of knowledge and cool information to share. Unfortunately the weather was not the best and we were unable to actually go on a boat in Loch Ness, but still, it was a fantastic day tour! Highly recommend it!

Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review! We're so glad to hear that you had a great time on your tour, even with some challenging weather conditions - Unfortunately Scotland is well known for experiencing four seasons in one day from time to time! I'll be sure to pass on your comments to Mark, he'll be delighted to hear it. We would love to welcome you back on another tour one day, hopefully when there's better weather for you! Kind Regards, Kirsty
