very disappointing
Sep 2019
Our driver, John was a most pleasant fellow, and seemed to be very sorry for the several deficiencies throughout this tour. There was NO wifi available. The speaker system did not work at any time during our trip, therefore the only commentary about what we were seeing was provided by John when we were stopped, most often we had no idea of any history or stories about where were. Our B&B accomodations were very sub-standard with the exception of our final night and that was excellent.
Yes the Scottish countryside was impressive, but the tour quality itself was not for the reasons above. When I provided feedback directly to the Tour operator on their website they did not even give me the courtesy of a response. Most disappointing.

The whole trip was amazing. So much more than I expected. Our guide Moray Walker was very entertaining and full of knowledge about each area we visited. Bus was great. Accommodation was super. Our group was excellent. Met new friends. I would do it again.

Best way to see the Highlands- Thank you John McCollough!!
Oct 2019
This tour was amazing! It was fast paced, but never rushed. They had good accommodations, and always time to explore the town we were in. John did a fabulous job making sure we had the best time, looking ahead for reservations at busy stops, double checking every boat to make sure it was running before we got there, and staying off the Skye Super Highway so we could enjoy the back roads through the Highlands. John was very knowledgeable and an entertaining speaker about Scotland. This felt like a road trip with someone who knew all of the best routes, and where to stop for the most amazing pictures of Scotland. I would go on any tour with Highland Experience and John again!

One of the best tours I’ve ever experienced!
Oct 2019 • Couples
Very pleased with the tour. Graham, the driver/ guide was very attentive, informative and funny at the same time. Since it was a small group, timing was also flexible. Not feeling being rushed from one point to the other. We were blessed with the sun throughout the trip, which Graham took the opportunity for more photo stops for us along the way. We opted for the b&b option, which I’m glad we did. Got to experience living with the locals and eating home made breakfast everyday. The restaurants recommendation for dinner in all cities were also superb! Very happy customer 👍

Best tour guide/driver--John McCullough
Oct 2019
I arranged the 5 day Best of Scotland Experience tour for myself and three friends from Arizona. We all had a terrific time, thanks to (primarily) good weather and our tour guide/drive John McCullough. We covered 800 miles in 5 days, and saw and did as much as we/he could squeeze in. Here are some tips I'd like to pass on to other people considering this, or similar tours with Highland Experience Tours:

1. If there is a "smaller bus" option, take it. We had 13 people in our tour, and it made the trip more enjoyable. Thankfully everyone in our group was very friendly, and very punctual. Our guide John said this also made his life easier, and he was able to take us to some places that he could not access if he had a larger bus.

2. Take the B&B option! We stayed at the Corriemar Guest House in Oban, the Limestone Inn in Broadford (on Skye) and the Loch Ness Guest House in Fort Augustus. Each one of these was very different from the others, but the variety was nice. It also gave my friends an insight as to how B&Bs/guest houses can vary. They had never stayed in a B&B before, but they all seemed to like the experience. NOTE: your B&Bs that the tour company uses may be different than ours--it's all based on availability.

3. We had rooms on the second floor of each B&B. There were no elevators. If you need accommodations with an elevator (lift), be sure to tell Highland Experience ahead of time so they can provide options.

4. Lunch breaks were about 1 hour to 1.5 hours. Service at most restaurants/pubs is more leisurely than here in the U.S., so if you plan to do some shopping on your lunch hour, you may not have as much time as you wish.

Thanks again for a nice tour! No complaints. Everything lived up to our expectations. I have been in the travel business for 36 years, and I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see a lot of different places in Scotland. You can also use Highland Experience for separate day trips to St. Andrews, Stirling, Dunfermline, and more (from Edinburgh).

LOVE JOHN
Sep 2019
John and this tour (the 5 day Skye) wasd epic. Many 1st for me 1st tour 1st review and i think i hit a home run right away. The Scotland views of course were epic, but John took great care to stay off the main roads and show us the real Scotland John brought personal insight with laughs to the wonderful and tragic Scotish experience. John kept us on schedule, did everything in an A plus manner, and althugh i will likely never see him again, consider John a friend

Excellent experience in the highlands!
Sep 2019
Highland Experience Tours was a wonderful way to see the countryside and the highlands. Everything was well organized and we didn't have to worry about a thing. We saw a lot of things that we wouldn't have otherwise and I'm glad we chose this company because everything ran very smoothly.

Oct 2019 • Couples
This being my first tour, I’ve nothing to compare it to, but I believe it was a great value. We saw a lot of very beautiful places, had nice accommodations, and plenty of stops and attractions. Our guide, Andrew, was knowledgeable and funny, and had lots of great stories. I would definitely recommend this tour.
