      Disappointing and Unorganized Tour Experience
We booked this tour with Viator during our cruise stop at Glasgow Port, and unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. The highlights for me were supposed to be Loch Lomond and Stirling Castle, but our guide decided to skip Loch Lomond due to concerns about traffic on the way back. Instead, we spent an extended lunch break at Aberfoyle, which had very little to see or do. The guides were friendly, but the tour felt disorganized and poorly planned. If I had known in advance that we wouldn’t visit Loch Lomond, I would not have joined the tour. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, and I can’t recommend it.

Wee Davie made sure we saw the steam train - twice!
On friday 16th August, we joined the Glenfinnan, Mallaig & Glencoe Adventure from Glasgow. Our guide David (wee Davie) delivered a well-rounded informative tour, offerring to take pictures at stops and answering any questions. I really enjoyed that the spoken content was a balanced mix of history, cultural context, but also current social issues and environmental impact. I really appreciated the latter two topics, because they offer true insight into local state of affairs, and I try to be mindful of my own footprint when I travel. So one suggestion I’d have is, if there is any way tourists themselves can help make the Glenfinnan viaduct experience more sustainable, it can be advertised during the tour. For instance, there were signs warning of erosion of rocks, but people climbed on them anyway to get a better view- if there are any petitions to sign to the councils or an initiative to pay a small tourist fee (which is common practice in some of the places I’ve been to) that can put measures in place to negate the strain on local resources and landscape, and ease logistics, I think most visitors would be happy to support such preservation efforts. While some of the stops, understandably – because of the distances – weren’t long in duration, Luss and Mallaig stops allowed for ample exploration, interspersed by enjoying beautiful scenery from the window. Wee Davie delivered an exceptional experience - he went above and beyond to make sure we saw the train twice - once passing on the Viaduct, but also arriving to Mallaig. I enjoyed his style of delivery – broken up by music by Scottish artists or about Scotland (personally I enjoy Battle of Bannockburn by Sabaton, though I doubt it would land with the usual participants of tours such as this one), and while my friend struggled a bit with the (in)famous Glaswegian accent, personally I find it an indispensable part of immersion into the Scottish setting. On previous tours I’ve been on there were always two people, one driving and the other a guide, so I was genuinely impressed by the multitasking of driving on narrow roads and delivering well-memorised, extensive material – I hope the guides get paid for double the work 😊 The only downside of the trip was an older lady who was cold-sensitive so the whole bus had to suffer without AC on – and if asked to turn on the AC she would inevitably pipe up few moments later to ask to turn it off, which is ridiculous on a bus with ~30 people who are also sometimes snacking, and when it rained the temperature difference caused condensation on the windows. Regardless, it was a great day out and we were lucky there was just some light drizzle at the Glencoe stop. I would definitely recommend Timberbush tours and if I get a chance, go on a different one from their selection myself 😊

      Nice trip
It met my expectations, I was satisfied. The bus wasn't full so I had two seats for myself, the driver was driving safely and carefully. I was afraid of getting sick of the bus because of all the twists and turns - but with some pills and sitting in the front of the bus, it wasn't that bad. The sites where we stopped were beautiful, I could get a good lunch in Mallaig. The viaduct on the way back was also nice, we saw the train (it passes 4 times a day, so the guide brings you there at those exact times). It's a long time on the bus and not that much outside, but that's completely understandable considering the distances and the condition of the roads (no highways). The only negative thing I can say - I could understand very little of what the guide was saying on the bus (because of the accent and the speakers on the bus). This is a pity since he was speaking a lot and seemed to know all about the surroundings on our way.

      Excellent service
We had a great time on the tour. Compliments to David and Adam our tour guid and driver. No question to small for David to answer and Adam got us to the destinations safely. Both nice friendly lads. They had a trainee on board with them ( sorry don't know his name) and he was also very friendly and full of knowledge. Wish him all the best in his new role. Will definitely book another tour with this company.

One fab tour even for a lone introvert.
The tour was just fabulous. Tom was fantastic and was a mine of knowledge, telling historical stories while keeping everyone wrapped up in the magic of the Highlands. The tour flowed easily, the views were amazing. I learned so much history in one day than I could have reading. I highly recommend and will be back for another adventure.

      Very good experience!
Very good The one-day trips offered by Timberbush are a fantastic experience. Our bus driver and guide, Charlie, was knowledgeable, funny, and drove very well. We were treated to stories, facts, and music. We also stopped at places of interest. A great way to get out of the city. Charlie, you’re the man! We are left with a very positive impression of Scotland and Timberbush Tours!

Loch Lomond, the Trossachs and Stirling Castle
We had wanted to visit Luss, and were initially trying to decide between taking this tour and heading to Balloch via public transport. In the end we picked this tour for the convenience of getting to Luss without having to figure out how to get there through public transport. We'd relied on the following description on Timberbush's website: "Here you can enjoy an hour long cruise* taking in spectacular views of the loch's many islands and the surrounding mountains. Alternatively, take a stroll through the picturesque loch-side conservation village of Luss". However, during the trip, we were surprised to be stopped at Balloch instead of Luss. Had we known that the itinerary might be changed, we would have thought twice about booking this tour. I have just realised that the itinerary on Tripadvisor mentions Balloch and not Luss, but we had booked via the website and not Tripadvisor and had not expected there to be differences in the itineraries on different sites. The rest of the trip was fine. The driver/guide brought us to visit some highland cows, the visit to Stirling Castle was enjoyable, and we enjoyed the sight of the Highlands.

Birthday celebration for Harry Potter fans
I booked this day trip for my partner’s birthday and boy we loved it. Alistair our driver and guide was wonderful, patient, a good driver and quite knowledgeable about Scotland and our destination in particular. Living in Scotland for 2 years and still learned a lot listening to him about highlands history. It was a great day and will love to try it again

      Enjoyable day trip.
Our driver/guide was Paul, who was delightful, kind, considerate and someone who clearly enjoys his work. There should be some signage at 19 Killermont Street. Oban felt rushed as the restaurant was busy, so we didn’t get a chance to visit it, which was a shame. Glencoe was impressive.

      Unforgettable experience
The whole trip was amazing and informative. Our driver Paul was very well versed in Scotland's history and all the places that we've visited. He made sure that all of us were safe and present in the bus each time we moved to another destination. He was also very accommodating in taking our pictures especially to solo travellers like me. I really commend Paul for all his efforts in in making this trip well worth it....kudos Paul👏👏👏 Florence

      A thoroughly enjoyable trip.
I really enjoyed this trip. Although a long day, the Highlands scenery was spectacular and made it worthwhile. Stuart, our driver and guide, was first class and kept us informed with the history of the areas we passed. During breaks in the chat, he played a variety of music. There were adequate photo-opportunity and toilet breaks, and the coach was comfortable and warm. I highly recommend this tour.

The view of the Highlands was spectacular but the tour was lacking. The description of the tour mentions an optional cruise : castle that would be at extra cost (£20/person) but it doesn’t mention that there’s nothing to do but hang out at a low-quality hotel / tourist trap if you choose not to do either. I felt therefore scammed into spending more money - and would’ve preferred the cost to be lumped into the tour ticket. The day definitely could’ve been shortened with more efficiencies. Spending 45min in Pitlochry for toilet breaks was ridiculous- every shop was closed and much less time could’ve been spent. The guide was very knowledgeable and excellent. Would recommend skipping the tour altogether and hiring a car.

Dear Quest760238, Many thanks for your feedback and I am sorry that you found your experience to be disappointing! We do advertise on our website and on our brochures that the price of the option is not included in the price of the tour and we even list the price of each attraction on each tour page as well. I am sorry you missed the information but paying for the optional extras shouldn't have been surprise for you. Pitlochry is a very picturesque village and some of our passengers would enjoy having as much time as possible to take a walk around and explore the small town. It would not be fair to reduce the time spent at Pitlochry especially on a tour like Loch Ness that covers most of the country and where stops off the coach are less frequent than in other shorter tours. I am glad that despite your disappointment you still enjoy spending time with your driver guide! Best Wishes, Ophelie

Quite a nice day trip to the Scottish Highlands. Enjoyed the shared knowledge of guide Robbie. Made a few stops to nice vistas and some beautiful towns with enough time to enjoy each one. I’m not sure if I would recommend a highlands tour for someone who gets motion sickness (might of been better at the front of the bus) but I did feel a bit ill on some of the roads. Had to pay an additional 18 pounds for a boat trip at Loch Ness which was quite lovely and would recommend.

Hi there, thank you for your review! I'm glad to hear that you had a nice time on tour. It is always a good shout to try and sit near the front of the bus if you're prone to motion sickness and it's always worth paying for the cruise as it's such a nice way to see the loch. Hopefully we will see you on another tour some day soon! All the best, David

Excellent Trip. I can highly recommend, our tour guide Charlie was fantastic, he was not only
knowledgeable and fun, but also mixed-up the tour with a wide range of facts, not only historical. He kept me definitely entertained until the end and made it one of the best tours I have been on. Top tip if you only have day as I saw and learned far more than I expected.

Robert was our tour guide today . We left Glasgow at 8am and arrived back at 7.15pm. Incredible value for money . Robert was very informative and we got to see some beautiful scenery . We opted to do the Loch Ness boat tour during one of our stops and it was a lovely way to see around the Loch. Would definitely recommend this trip to anyone looking for a great way to explore the beautiful scenery of Scotland!

We had never been to Scotland and had a free day for something to do..booking.com sent us ‘attractions to explore’ so we signed up for this. The company sent me an email for a different pick up point and for the same time.. not sure where we were going or if they would show up...Was one of the best trips we have done!! Our driver Andy was informative and witty, even in the Ciara storm he gave us the choice of certain stops and places to go. The castle was beautiful, Loch ness was picturesque and the cafe to stop in for lunch had a lovely baked potato with haggis! I recommend this trip for anyone. I saw everything I wanted to see apart from a Nessie!! Thank you for the trip my partner and I thoroughly enjoyed :) x

This was our third time traveling with Discover Scotland Tours. It was a special day for us as it was my birthday and Scott made it memorable with his energy, humor, and enthusiasm. Each location we visited was scenic and we had enough time to explore the locations and take photos. Scott told us several interesting facts about the highlands and Scottish culture. We enjoyed the Scottish music throughout the trip. Especially the "I would walk 500 Miles" song, the whole bus was singing and enjoying the song. Loch Ness Ferry was a unique and scenic experience. I enjoyed the food at the restaurant that Scott recommended. Thanks a lot for an amazing experience and we look forward to booking our next trip soon.

An amazing taste of all the highlights of Scotland’s landscape. It was a long day, but necessarily so. There are options for excursions to castle ruins and/or a Loch Ness river cruise at one stop (at extra cost); we took the cruise and loved it!
Our guide, Callum, was extremely knowledgeable in all the facts and history of each area we passed through, and did an excellent job of keeping up with everyone, all while navigating the challenging drive…not a simple task!
Altogether, it was the most awe-inspiring day of our tour of the entire UK. I’d highly recommend.

This was excellent. Our tour guide (Scott) really went above and beyond for us. He knew the area well, told objectively funny stories and really made the tour special for us all. The views are outstanding and it is a great day out. Just remember to bring some snacks as it is a long day.
When you get to Loch Ness you will have the opportunity to do a short cruise of the Loch for £19pp. In my view this really is not worth it and I would not do it again so bare that in mind. Very underwhelming.

What a trip! Thank you to our lovely Tour Guide Stuart. Knows how to entertain the people, sometimes with telling everything he knew about the place and sometimes he would just let us relax and enjoy the view with a nice song played in the background. The tour stopped at one of the nicest places I have seen in my life, and the time management between the stops was perfect. If you are looking for a lovely trip where you see a lot of Scotland whilst being fed with information in an entertaining way. This trip with Stuart is your place to be! Me and my friends (fellow students) had the time of our lives, even though we are known to have a short attention span. Thank you!

Hi there, thank you for your review. I'm very happy to hear that you had a great time on our Loch Ness tour with Stuart. We will be sure to pass on your comments about his commentary and his playlist. The Highlands have beautiful scenery, but cover a big area, so I’m glad you loved the views and that Stuart's commentary and time management made the day entertaining. Hopefully we will see you again soon! Best wishes, Luisa
