What to expect
Your rendez-vous with Paris’ famous dead begins in the morning at Alexandre Dumas metro station. Meet your guide and stroll into Père Lachaise Cemetery, the city’s most visited graveyard. Spanning 110 acres (44 hectares), this cemetery houses hundreds of thousands of the city’s famous and infamous dead in tombs of varying extravagance. Hear about some of the site’s famous artists, musicians and writers that rest here such as Edith Piaf, Molière, Chopin, Proust, Delacroix, Jim Morrison and Oscar Wilde. Wander through the labyrinth of graves and along stony paths to visit tombs accented in eccentricity and distinction.  As you experience the haunting magnificence of the cemetery, you’ll learn tragic histories of lovers like Heloïse and Abelard – united in a single tomb in the 1817 after centuries apart – and forward-thinking women like writers Gertrude Stein and Collette. Your tour concludes at Porte du Rèpos near the Philippe Auguste metro stop.

Wonderful Introduction to Paris
My husband & I were only in Paris for one full day & this was the first of two tours we scheduled that day. Our tour guide, Victoria, was so helpful and friendly and knowledgeable about the cemetery, the city and its history. Of course the Jim Morrison tomb is the big attraction yet she also showed us many other notable resting places of people who played a part in the city’s vast history. Highly recommend!

Very interesting
Our last day in Paris and thought a walking tour would be good as we have seen all the sites we wanted to see. We did a walking tour of a cemetery last year in Buenos Aires to see grave of Eva peron so thought why not in Paris. Karen our guide was very knowledgeable and was great to listen to. The graves of Chopin and JIM Morrison were the two we knew the most but the others were also interesting to hear about. Also was good to see the memorials to the victims of the nazi Holocaust.

Really the the best tour I have been on in 15 years!
Oct 2019
Our guide Georgia Darell from CityWonders on a rainy cool Saturday gave the best tour of the Pere Lachaise cemetery -- passionate, funny, putting the "late" people into their "world" -- that I have ever heard a guide do. In a past life time I used to hire great tour guides in a major US city based on that the guide really had that person nailed, and did it in a way that she/he connected with the audience, and enhanced our understanding of why. Georgia did it with incredibly placed music from Chopin and Jim Morrison, and did it with a powerful description of Roman, Napoleonic, "sugar extraction from beets," and rock factoids as well as an homage to the Paris Communards who were killed by the hundreds in 1871 that any of us could remember. A humane connection to nearly 50 or 70 from the past that brought history alive in one of the most visited cemeteries in the world. Never will forget it. Bob Krim

Fascinating and informative
Oct 2019 • Couples
We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Two hours of information and tales in one of the world’s most famous cemeteries. Our guide Victoire spoke perfect English, shared fascinating and sometimes macabre stories, knew the history and took the time to ask what we were interested in. Highly recommended for a different Parisian experience.

Our guide Georgia was amazing! She made visiting a cemetary so much fun. It was a must do on my list and am so glad I did. Our guide was very descriptive, knowledgeable, and showed us so much, I just wish we had more time. I could have spens all day there with her.

If you get the chance request Georgia you won't be sorry.

A wonderful experience

My hotel was in the area and I stumbled across the cemetery so I booked a tour and it was delightful. The high point for many may be Jim Morrison but the plethora of unique & historical graves is beyond the grave! And the surrounding neighborhood is truly Paris.

Abelard & Heloise- The Greatest Love story
Aug 2019
This was an english speaking tour, however, we had French speaking only in the grp. I feel like we missed a lot of information because she had to divide her time explaining in both languages. I wish she had talked more about Abelard & Heloise and other great people from Paris who were buried here.

Hello DublinDrive, Thank you very much for sharing your feedback on Trip Advisor. We are glad to hear you enjoyed Abelard & Heloise story in your guided tour. We are disappointed to know that you felt the issues with the languages of the guide and that they were so severe as to significantly damage your enjoyment of the tour. We take pride in the high standards of our guides, and they work hard to ensure the highest quality experiences are offered to our guests. Nice relaxing end to our trip
Aug 2019 • Friends
We did this on our last day, it was a nice relaxing tour and the cemetery was beautiful. Our guide was especially accommodating since someone had booked the tour for a different day on accident, and she just made a note and swapped the days for her since we had room. I definitely recommend if you like cemeteries or even if you just want a low key walking experience with alot of history.
