Small-Group Neuschwanstein and Linderhof Castle Luxury Coach Day Trip from Munich
US$140.80
Overview
Add a bit of legend and enchantment to your German vacation with a full-day trip to Neuschwanstein and Linderhof from Munich. Relax for the scenic coach ride through the Bavarian Alps, then spend hours exploring the former royal residences, sources of inspiration for modern fairy tales like Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty. In your small group, tour the castle’s opulent halls, unique spaces and the incredible kitchens. Conclude with free time in the charming village of Oberammergau.
What to Expect
You’ll be picked up from central Munich in the morning for your day trip to two gems of the Bavarian Alps: Neuschwanstein Castle and Linderhof Palace. On your scenic 1.5-hour drive, your expert guide provides commentary about the history and significance of the Bavaria region and its attractions. Your luxury coach offers comfortable seats, panoramic windows, Wi-Fi and a restroom, ensuring optimal comfort throughout your journey. Enjoy a complimentary snack box on board, with additional snacks and drinks available for purchase.

Your first stop is Linderhof Palace, a small palace built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria. Though inspired by France’s Versailles Palace, Linderhof’s interior is actually rather private and humble, as you’ll see on your 1-hour guided tour, but head to the surrounding gardens and you’ll discover why they’re considered among the most beautiful in the world, combining elements of Baroque, Italian Renaissance and English styles.
Leaving Linderhof behind, head next to Oberammergau, where you’ll have about 30 minutes of free time to walk around. Wander the lanes of this quaint village and see beautiful examples of the traditional art of woodcarving.

Continue driving along famous Romantic Road to the foot of majestic Neuschwanstein Castle. Before hiking up the hill for your guided tour of the castle, you can either have lunch (own expense) or set out for Mary's Bridge (Marienbrücke), the best spot for postcard views of the castle.
The most famous of three royal palaces built for King Louis II of Bavaria, Neuschwanstein sits on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau. Take a guided tour of the 19th-century Romanesque Revival palace to learn about its peculiar past: it was intended as a personal refuge for the reclusive, crazed king, but it was opened to the public after his death in 1886.
Today Neuschwanstein is an architectural icon; in fact, it inspired Disney’s Sleeping Beauty and closely resembles Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland!

After your tour of the castle, relax on the drive back to Munich.

Munich Germany Trip

The bus was very comfortable and had a bathroom if needed along with snacks if one was hungry. Both the guide and the driver were friendly and helpful. The trip was not the greatest because the weather was rainy and foggy and you couldn't see...More

Thank you Ludwig II for these castles

Gerda and our driver Joe (I apologize if spelling is wrong) were great. Bus is really great. We brought a lunch which came in handy but there was fruit and snacks. We had dismal weather which completely limited our exterior view of Neuschwanstein. Linderhof is...More

Too rushed, a lot of steps and steep walking

I cannot really fault the company on this day trip as they delivered what they promised, but if you are looking for a fully escorted tour this is not the trip for you. For me he most useful part of the trip was that the...More

Comfortable, Well-Paced Tour of Bavarian Castles that Packs a Lot!

We took this tour in early September 2018 and really enjoyed it. Having never been to Munich or Bavaria before, we learned so much from our guide, Gerda, in such a relatively short time. The tour is well-paced, considering how much it packs in over...More

These are single seats only. I can't imagine them charging a seat for a 2 year old that won't be seated super close to you. You may want to look at another option with a young child. The single seats are staggered, so you're... More
