What to expect
Begin this half-day walking tour with a meet-and-greet with an expert local guide in East Berlin at the Hackescher Markt train station. Then set out to explore the city's Jewish heritage, from the days of its first 17th-century immigrants, through the horror of the Holocaust, to the present day.  Along the way, learn about some of Berlin’s past Jewish residents who changed the world as we know it, like Albert Einstein and philosopher Moses Mendelssohn.  Visit the site of the Old Synagogue, which was destroyed in World War II, and the “Block of Women” memorial to the women’s uprising of 1943, a peaceful attempt to save their Jewish husbands and fathers from deportation by the SS and the Gestapo. Also, see the heritage site of Hackesche Höfe; the Blindenwerkstatt Otto Weidt, a 1940s-era factory where workshop owner Otto Weidt protected his blind and deaf Jewish workers from persecution during the Holocaust; and the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. Finally, visit the 19th-century New Synagogue, one of Berlin’s most significant Jewish landmarks. It was the main synagogue of the Berlin Jewish community and an important architectural monument of late 19th-century Berlin. Today, it is home to the Centrum Judaicum, which traces the history of the building and the life associated with it. Feel free to enter the synagogue (own expense) as the tour concludes.

Excellent tour thanks to our guide Sharon
Nov 2019
Although native English speakers we, being Israelis, chose to do the Jewish walking tour of Berlin with a Hebrew speaking guide. Sharon was an excellent guide, well informed, interesting and offered insight into many aspects of German/Jewish relationships.

Excellent walking tour of Jewish berlin
Aug 2019
This is a full 4 hour walk, and we had an excellent guide in 'Orr'. We saw the site of the old synagogue, and the heard the story of how the wives saved their jewish husbands from the Nazis, and the poignant sculpture of the man on the bench (if you ignore what happens, then they will come for you next). We saw the Hackenschen Hoefe complex, the Blindenwerkstaff Museum, where Otto Weidt (a sort of Schindler) helped Jews in danger. We also saw the 'missing house' - a reminder about all victims from war and bombing, and also the old cemetery where Jews were buried, and the Nazis removed most of the headstones. Also the 'new' synangogue, which partly survived the allied bombing, and the magnificent rebuilt roof of the dome. We also learned about the Jewish population and what became of many during the Nazi period. An excellent tour.

Daphna was our guide for the Jewish tour of Berlin and she was excellent. We didn't realize how good she was until we did 2 other different tours and her delivery and knowledge was far superior than the others. The tour was perfect in giving us a good understanding of Jewish history then and now. I would highly recommend this company, this specific tour and try to get Daphna.

Absolutely knowledgeable guide
Sharon gave a fantastic tour on Jewish Berlin. Her knowledge of German-Jewish history is amazing and her view as an Israeli very interesting and fascinating.

Additionally to her knowledge she was aware of her guests in terms of breaks and times to rest and sit down. Very good on a long walking tour!

Great tour of Jewish sites, history and life in Berlin
Sep 2019
We were part of a fairly small group on this 3 hour walking tour. Our guide Oren was terrific. He gave us a thorough review of Jewish history, life and sites in Berlin in an informative and objective manner. We covered many sites and in each case Oren was very knowledgeable and engaging. He made sure that we had enough breaks to pace the tour and the 3 hours went by very quickly. We also covered some sites of general interest that are not covered in most general Berlin tours.

Ariel was our guide. He is friendly and considerate. We have done many tours throughout Europe and found Ariel to be one of the most knowledgeable and informed tour guides we have ever had. My husband and I would strongly recommend him to anyone considering the tour.

Jewish Heritage Walk...
My husband, myself and two of our friends were on the tour September 9th here in Berlin. It was pouring rain (reminded us of home, didn't bother us one bit...we're from Seattle WA hehehe!) that didn't stop us from having an amazing tour with our guide Oren. I have always been fascinated by Jewish history/culture and also what happened during WWII (I'm a Christian, but I never want to forget what happened. Both my Grandfathers fought during the war. One was with the first troop to help liberate Dachau). Oren was knowledgeable, engaging, entertaining and an all around amazing guide. We will recommend this to any friends and family traveling to Berlin!!! Three of us who were on the tour will be going to Israel the beginning of January. Maybe we'll see you there Oren! Thanks for such an amazing experience.
