The Alhambra and Palaces of the Albaicin

Discover the beautiful  Granada by visiting the palaces of the Nasrid Dynasty: the worldwide famous Alhambra and the hidden Nasrid palaces of the Albaicin quarter, both areas declared World Heritage by the Unesco. The citadel of the Alhambra, built on the Sabika Hill, is the most impressive fortified complex of Muslim Spain and its walls still stand as witnesses to the golden age of Granada. Across from the Sabika is the Albaicín, Granada’s ancient quarter, and certainly at one time the most beautiful. A half-day activity, guided by an expert tour guide in small groups, walking through history. You will visit the Alhambra and its palaces, gardens and fortress, as well as the narrow streets and the flowered balconies of the Albaicin. You will get the greatest views of the city and will also visit the palaces of the Nasrid nobles in the hill of the Albaicin.
  • Explore Granada’s Alhambra and old Albaicin quarter in a day
  • Beat the Alhambra’s lines and see the palace with a guide for deeper insight
  • Stroll around Albaicin’s Moorish sights, including palaces and a bathhouse
  • Make full use of a day in Granada, in a small group for a calmer experience
What to Expect
Greet your guide in central Granada and head to the UNESCO-listed Alhambra palace-fortress on Sabika Hill. Bypass the main lines with your prebooked ticket and go inside to take in this 14th-century royal complex, once home to the Moorish Nasrid sultans. Don the provided headsets to hear your guide clearly and explore the ornate apartments and gateways. Hear stories about Spain’s Muslim rulers and the sultans Yusuf I and Muhammed V, who left their distinct hallmarks on the site. Admire the Patio of the Lions and other courtyards, and learn how the Alhambra has inspired countless artists. After a lunch break (own expense), take an afternoon tour of Granada’s formerly Moorish Albaicin quarter: its oldest enclave. See 14th- and 15th-century palaces of the Nasrid royals, admire the Plaza Nueva and Banuelo bathhouse, and absorb the Alhambra views from San Nicolas. Your tour then finishes in the city.
