        Pretty scary
It was my first time horse riding, bit surprised no one checked my helmet was on properly, the group was large but was then split up while we were out so the more experienced can gallop, we went up a mountain what had a good view, my horse was experienced in the trek and looked after me she was a good girl . Was a good morning out and would do it again

        Fantastic first riding experience.
Booked this for my 56th birthday and so glad I did. This was my first riding experience and I have to say was thoroughly enjoyable. The team look after you and after our safety brief and getting matched with a horse we set off. We followed various trails through the hills and stopped at the halfway point for a few snaps and a water break. Great views and a nice gentle pace made for a cracking morning. The team were excellent and you can tell the horses are very well cared for, alert and very well trained. I would recommend 100% that if you have thought about trying riding and are in Gran Canaria then give these guys a go. They cater for complete novices through to experienced riders.

If you know horses do not go
Came to visit here after reading a lot of positive reviews. Unfortunately we were very let down. Despite a lot of people saying it’s great for beginners, we found the opposite. I have no experience horse riding whilst my partner has over 10 years experience and we both received the same level of instruction from Helen: barely anything. We were told enough to stop and go and pretty much nothing in regard to safety of ourselves or our horses. I was given Luther, a large horse that was so numb to any instruction it simply wouldn’t move with a hard kick. I was instructed to either boot the horse at full strength or use the crop they handed me - again I’ve never ridden a horse, never mind used a whip, and am pretty sure that shouldn’t be normal routine to tell a beginner. My partner was given a horse, Kabul, that they deemed suitable for an advanced rider. She was told he was capable of galloping but what she wasn’t told was that he was new to the yard, had an extremely high temperament and was known by the riders there to be a nightmare. We found all of this out from their resident driver later, not from any of the staff. Unfortunately this resulted in my gf being thrown during a gallop before which she was told ‘once the horse starts the gallop he will not stop no matter what you do’. This shouldn’t be the case for any horse used in a riding school for customers/tourists, no matter the level the experience. I understand that some horses get excited on trails, especially when they have a routine and recognise certain parts as their cue to trot/canter/gallop, but you should be able to stop the horse, or at least expect a horse which is trained well enough not to buck/bronc their rider off. The instructor Helen then asked my girlfriend if she pulled the reins when she started the gallop up the hill, which she did not as she was expecting some excitement and would never pull on the reins needlessly to upset the horse. However, pulling on the reins to slow down shouldn’t prompt such a reaction from the horse regardless. They can be unpredictable, but this one was clearly poorly trained. She had been told the horse will jump when it starts the gallop, but not that it would misbehave to such an extent that it would endanger her or that the particular horse she’s riding has a reputation for misbehaving. Again, the guides/horse riders at the farm gave little to no instruction or indication that this horse would endanger her. She’s dealt with unpredictable horses before, but had expected a riding school horse given for this trail, to gallop without incident and not to throw her off to this extent. Another advanced rider on the same trail had seen my girlfriend get thrown off quite dramatically and opted out of the gallop afterwards. It is clear that these horses are not properly trained or suited for the gallop part of the trail. Another disappointment was the trail itself. Yes, the views were pretty, however 2 hours of riding on steep, rocky unforgiving terrain on bored, overworked horses that could barely find their footing was not an ideal first taste of a riding experience and overall not worth €50-€60. I would not recommend El Salobre to anyone, beginner or otherwise, until they start to care more for the animals and focus on providing a fun and even a little informative experience instead of relying on the natural scenery to bring in customers.

Amazing riding experience at El Salobre riding school .
Excellent communication to book an individual one to one and arrange pick from my hotel . Iwas asked how experienced a rider I was , and tailored to what I wanted from the ride. My instructor was very knowledgeable and passionate about the horses and riding. Beautiful scenery very relaxing also good information about the surrounding area . Very enjoyable will most definitely be back on my return next year . All the staff were friendly and made sure everyone had an enjoyable time . Thank you for a lovely ride El Salobre Vicki

        Great experience
My other half and daughter of 9 years booked to go. I’m currently 6 months pregnant so stayed at the ranch while my other half went of on his horse. My daughter on the other hand got a little spooked but NICOLE who works for the centre went above and beyond with my daughter to help her gain her confidence on the horse that was chosen for her. NICOLE took my daughter onto the riding school by her self so she could feel more confident on the horse that was matched with her. Honestly could not of asked for more. Horses are friendly and looked after, staff are friendly and very accommodating. & again a BIG THANK YOU TO NICOLE

Relaxing, easy going and beautiful scenery
Really lovely team, the view from the mountains on horseback was wonderful. All of the horse were wonderfully behaved andy partner as a novice rider had a great time and felt really safe. My only downside was that there was very little trot or canter time. One small stretch on the road for a few moments, the rest of the tour was walking. But very relaxing and enjoyable nonetheless

Enjoyable but 2 hrs was a little too long
We went on the 2 hr ride and it was a bit long to be honest as the terrain is all the same. You just go up and down and across the very rocky mountainside. The views were nice and my horse was great, very responsive. Those who wanted, and were able, could either trot/gallop or both, just once. Wear trousers and trainers and take a small bottle of water and sunscreen. It’s hot up there in April.

        Lovely Horsey Holiday Experience
Overall a lovely holiday experience:). On-time pick up from the hotel with a friendly driver, great attention from the staff at the stables and a lovely introduction to the horses. The staff took great care matching the horses with the riders to ensure everyone had a safe experience, plus made sure everyone had a well fitting protective helmet and safe footwear. I was lucky to get Kabul, a lovely 8 year old gelding, who cantered and trotted very well. The horses were happy and I can tell that the staff looked after them well and cared for them lovingly. Yes, some of them were slower than the the others, but very well suited for absolute beginners who had never ridden before. One of the horses acted in an unusual manner, but it turns out their veterinary surgeon is always available (close friend with the owner of the stables), so the staff said they would make sure the horse received a thorough check up without delay. Our guides were attentive, friendly and ensured that everyone had a lovely horsey experience. I would recommend this lovely authentic GC stable:)

        An absolute must!
Absolutely loved this! The instructors are great and know the horses so well so they can match you with the most suitable. Some fabulous photo opportunities on route - a big thank you to Amanda who took some on our behalf and sent them on as I'd left my phone 🙈! A great experience for newbies (as were we) and the more experienced! Felt totally at ease thanks to the brilliant horses and even more brilliant instructors! Thank you xx

        A really pleasant experience
A super chilled experience! I never was on a horse before but the staff did a great job of talking you through it. The horse I had was lovely. Plus there was various cute cats and dogs roaming around the stable area that you could pet while your horse was being prepared. The horse ride itself was very scenic. I would highly recommend it, especially if you have never been on a horse before

        Professional Experience
My wife and I went on the two hour experience whilst on holiday in GC. I am a novice rider and my wife has a little more experience. From the outset we received a thorough briefing and were placed in groups relating to our ability. The horses were matched perfectly to our abilities. The hack was a fantastic experience and our confidence built as we went along. I would thoroughly recommend this experience for all levels of ability. Excellent value for money, with some wonderful memories made.

We went on a birthday trip and were really looking forward to seeing the mountain views with the horses. While it started off well, naturally myself and friends were nervous because it was a new experience and instead of being gentle, the guides were angry at us for this.

Then we got towards the end of our trip and the guide at the back left us unattended despite knowing that the horse at the back was erratic and we weren't fully comfortable alone.

When we got to the stable, said horse bit my friend and everyone just stood watching- we had to beg the guide to get something to help her!

It was extremely uncomfortable and we left feeling like they didn't care about our safety.

sidenote- they eventually gave my friend an ice pack, but asked for it back after we got into our cab, who does that?

A hotel pick up was included, We waited at the agreed point 10 min ahead of the agreed time. the driver never showed, after waiting 30 min we called the agency.
they said that they will check and call back.
After 30 min they called back to say that the tour hade been canceled at the last minute. This was a lie since we hade booked the second tour and they never bothered calling us despite them having phone number and E-mail.
The company never apologized or called back, they could care less.
To anyone wanting to book a horse riding tour in Grand Canaria, i strong recommend them not to use this company.

We booked a one hour horse riding experience picked up from our hotel just my daughter 9 and myself. Picked up on time a rather scarey ride there had a brief explanation of what to do before horses were given to us, well one horse was given to my daughter which I held from the stable to arena he was very hard to control and so my daughter got scared and even with some persuasion from myself refused to get on horse. They told me to wait in waiting area as she became upset and went off without us, when I asked for some return of the 80 euros I had payed I was told no ..I did not see my horse or was given the option to go and she wait no patience . When the riders returned one of the riders showed me his sore legs where the horse had tried to bolt him and he had gripped his legs tight trying not to fall another got bit and another was walking as she said the ride was so scarey not for amateurs and very much rushed. Very disappointing.

This tour is mainly for children aged 6 - 10 who has never sat on a horse.
The description and picture showed a fun tour with riders in mixed formation and promised trout amongst more. The reality is a walk one after each other with sleepy horses. This has nothing to do with riding and more equivalent to the town rides where children get 2 rounds around the town square on a pony.

The horse was old had hardly any teeth and was tired they did not look in best condition (skinny) this was in hot gran canaria island.

I feel they are not the best but not the worst it could of been so much worse.

At the beginning of the ride before we mounted we got a pep talk 👄 they explained how to use the REINS very simply and how to kick them on, they explained nothing else did not even welcome us or seem happy to see us.

They asked if we ridden before which I had in the past and this was my first riding experience in several years it was disappointing though the scenery was lovely very desert like adventure.

My husband was was told to whip his horse because it would not go, hungry I would guess, even though he was a complete beginner that was his first taste of the sport. Fortunately he was not put off.

He felt sorry for these horses too 😢 over worked and under fed shame really as it could be a special place with happy healthy horses.

Over all my score is 2 out of 5 poor rating they could improve by treating their horses better and giving you a bottle of water it's not much to ask on a hot day.

Went on a 1 hour ride at 1pm, including transfers. 2 adults (me and my daughter, who both have horses at home) took a friend's 7 year old daughter for her first riding experience. Transfer was punctual, staff were friendly, and the horses were clearly very well looked after - deep shavings beds with dinner and lovely green hay after the ride. The stables were really tidy and cool for the horses, despite the heat. We got the chance to buy treats for the horses after, and a shoe with the horses name on for our little girl. She had an absolutely amazing time, and is coming to our horses when we get home! Really good value for money. Just to comment on some negatives from other reviews - yes the path is rocky and sometimes the horses stumble, but you are on a volcanic island so it is to be expected. The horses are used to it and it doesn't hurt them.
Finally, yes some are a little lean, but I imagine it is very difficult to keep weight on horses that are getting older in this climate. They all had lots of good quality food, and I noticed the horse in front of mine had corrective shoes (which are quite expensive) showing that they receive good vet and farrier care. Very much recommended.

I’ve always wanted to ride a horse since I was a child but I’ve always been so scared of the height and built of the horses. However I decided it was time for me to overcome this fear at the age of 30! The horses I met in this stable are very well looked after. The staff (Laura and another lady) were very kind and polite and both spoke a very good english. They asked us if we had experience so they could assign us different horses. They helped me to hop on the horse when I was so scared to do it myself and got a bit stuck. My horse was called Titanic and he was such a good boy. He kept me safe throughout the excursion and responded patiently to my commands. He was very easy to ride despite me being very rigid and scared. This was for me an amazing experience and I can’t thank these girls and the horses enough for realising one of my dreams! I now decided it’s time to take riding lessons and I will come back one day being an experienced horse rider…I hope!

It is a beautiful environment through which you walk, although it was blood hot, despite that I do advise to wear long pants, prevents many belts etc that rub against your leg.
As I read other reviews, we saw little of the bad conditions for the horses, although the horses of the 2 hour trip had to go straight to our trip.
The staff are friendly and speak very good English! You'll get good instructions. During the ride there is guidance from 2-3 staff, although I sometimes doubted whether we were being watched closely.
All in all a great experience and recommend it if you are around to do so.

I booked this as a surprise for my wife. She used to ride horses all the time but then life got in the way. As such, this was a lovely gift for her whilst we were on holiday (her words, not mine).
Collection to and from our hotel in San Agustin was on time and simple. The transfer was nice, with some lovely views of local towns on the way to the stables. At the stables, everyone was introduced to their horses and, where necessary, given a few tips on horse-riding. The group consisted of highly experienced, current riders to absolute beginners and right across the age spectrum.
The group went out for just under an hour and had a wonderful, calm walk in the sunshine. My wife’s horse was called Jara and she was a sweety. My wife loved her time with Jara and there was only one disappointment. When they returned to the stables the horses were immediately taken away (probably due to another group arriving shortly) and so she didn’t get a chance to buy/feed Jara some of the horse snacks that are on offer. That was the only even vaguely negatively negative aspect though as she had a lovely time and recommends this trip to others.
