What to expect
  • After pickup from your hotel or meeting point, your Rome to Capri day trip starts with the drive south to Naples, capital of Italy’s Campania region. Along the way, admire the landscape of Castelli Romani (Roman Castles) and sights like the Abbey of Montecassino, a hilltop Benedictine monastery. When you arrive at the port of Naples, board a hydrofoil boat or catamaran for the ride across the Tyrrhenian Sea to Capri, a fashionable island that sits just off Italy’s famed Amalfi Coast. Pull into Marina Grande, where you can transfer over to a rowboat for a guided journey along the shoreline to see the fascinating Blue Grotto, Capri’s most famous natural sight (entry at your own expense). The grotto’s enchanting blue color comes from rays that enter from under the water and a small beam of light from the cave’s only entrance. Back on the island, head up to the small village of Anacapri by coach to enjoy hilltop views of the Bay of Naples with free time for lunch at a local trattoria. Then go back down the hill to the town of Capri, the island’s main settlement, where you can walk around on your own. Go shopping for souvenirs or check out sights like Piazza Umberto before it's time to catch the boat back to Naples, where you’ll re-board the coach for the return drive to Rome. As you leave Naples, catch sight of landmarks like Castel Nuovo, Certona di San Martino, and Palazzo Reale. Then relax on the journey back to Rome, where your day trip ends at a drop-off point near Termini Station or one of the following locations, if you prefer: Via Veneto, Piazza Barberini, Piazza Venezia or Piazza della Repubblica (just let your guide know). Please note: In rare cases of very bad weather, boats to Capri are canceled; if this happens, you’ll spend the day exploring Naples and the ancient ruins of Pompeii, a World Heritage Site, with your guide. No refund will be due.

Nice trip, but could have been better, not enough time with the drive
Oct 2019
Rating is for the tour, not the destination. Destination was excelent
Bus ride to the ferries, nothing to say, its a bus ride, they did stop for restrooms and food, but so did several other buses at the same time, so very busy at the stops. Handed off to a different guide that was not very good to take us to Capri. Bus ride back the same as the ride there.
If I did this trip again I would not take this tour. you do not get enough time to enjoy for the money you spend
Take the train (much faster)
Purchase your ferry tickets when you get there (just like they did)
enjoy your time on the island
purchase your ferry back and then the train again
you will have more time on the island if you go yourself.

the Island
We would not normally go on a trip we did, but the transport to Anti Capri (the top) was backed up so we took a boat ride around the island. I highly recomend doing this trip, a half full boat would be best.
Trip to the top was fun for the tight roads, was fun seeing my wife worried with how narrow the roads were, how much you could see down the sides and how tight you were to other vechicles.
once at top, enjoy some shops, take a trip to the very top for some fantastic views (extra cost for the lift).

A lot of people say about how many people there are and how crowded it is, and we can see how this could happen. We went at the begining of October, they said it was the end of their season, so a lot less people.

First tip: YOU DON'T NEED TO BOOK AN ONLINE TOUR. It's simple to buy your own tickets for the ferry to the island, for attractions on the island and for getting around.

GETTING THERE FROM NAPLES TOWN CENTRE: Montesanto Metro station, 900m walk to Molo Beverello. Get the fast ferry from Molo B rather than from the Porta Di Massa from where the slow ferries depart. Cost is about 20-25 Eu one way . You can use any of the many companies.

UPON ARRIVAL ON CAPRI: At the Marina you have 3 transport options for getting around, in order of increasing cost: local bus, Minivan or private taxis. Head to the tourist office to left across the road from the exit....they sell return tickets for getting to Anacapri, Capri and the Marina. Buses run every few minutes and are cheap.

Buy your tickets for the chair lift to the top of Mt Solaro here as it allows you to skip the queue at the actual cable station.

Get your return ferry tickets at the Marina at the end of your day...quick and easy with clear signposting.

Great trip, would do it again
Sep 2019 • Couples
Excellently managed, times are tight to sightseeing, Pino in Capri was very helpful, the only thing I can complain is that in the restaurant, the food was included, but not the drinks, that is ok, but the waiter charge different for the same drinks, in one table charge 10€ for the Lemonade, in the other 14€ and I was charged with 12€, not big deal at all, but not fair.

Capri Day Trip from Rome
Sep 2019 • Couples
We were very disappointed with this day trip. There were 75 people speaking 4 different languages on the bus from Rome to Capri. Any information or direction had to be repeated 4 times. We expected an English speaking trip. It was difficult to pay attention to all the directions while waiting to know what to do in English. At least the tour director on the bus was knowledgeable and friendly in contrast to the tour guide who met the trip in Naples. He was abrupt, too quick about everything and just appeared to want to be done with his portion of the trip. We loved Capri and enjoyed our day in spite of the the problems of the tour.

Don’t even bother
Aug 2019 • Friends
To whom this may concern,

Green line tours has been a catastrophic experience since we arrived in Rome . We booked 2 tours totaling over 200USD per person giving this tour company a total of over 800 USD between our group. The day we arrived we made the mistake of booking a site seeing tour while still being at the airport . I called green line tours to see if they would accommodate ( it’s okay if they couldn’t ) but the operator hung up the phone on me and said I should have called yesterday. I than called back and tried to explain to her it was an accident and I wasn’t looking for sympathy - I was simply inquiring . Whether the visitor is wrong they should not be treated with utter disrespect and disregard. When I spoke to the operator she was extremely rude and abrasive. Later on that evening I called green line tours to ensure our pickup time for our Capri trip and the same operator picked up the phone giving attitude. I told the operator that I was only trying to confirm the time so that we wouldn’t have an incident . In my attempt to just simply gather information I was rudely rushed off the phone and almost had to beg for information .

The next day when the driver arrived at our hotel at 6:39 am and NOT 7 am as told on the phone we were rushed to another site in which we made a bus transfer. The tour guide on the bus was clearly “ in way over her head “ . The bus was almost was full to capacity and there were individuals holding seats for their friends and family they knew were running late , causing the on time individuals to have to struggle for seating . Once we found seating a passenger approached my travel partner and demanded her get out of her seat to accommodate his wife and children . My friend refused to get out of her seat to accommodate him because it was simply ridiculous that this man thought he had the given right to demand someone out of their seat in which they paid 177 USD for . The passenger began to become angry and disgruntled , demanded that he had the right to tell her to leave her seat. He than approached the tour guide asking her to tell my travel partner to get out of her seat. Instead of the travel guide telling him they had a over capacity bus and couldn’t make such accommodations, she asked my travel partner to get out of her seat. Multiple partners started to intervene asking why she was being treated in that manner. The travel guide than tried to correct her actions by stating “ she can get up if she wanted too”. This was clearly disrespectful and no apology was giving.

Once we got off the bus the travel guide gave everyone stickers for Grotto stating it was apart of the excursion which was unbeknownst to me. Once she realized she was giving the incorrect information she started running frantically trying to recover all the stickers she gave out. Now all the passengers were confused at the lack of skill and preparation this tour line .

Once we arrived on the ferry to take us to Capri we had no instructions of what was next etc . The new tour guide now arrived and immediately started complaining that he had to repeat his self over 10 times giving directions (as if that wasn’t his sole responsibility for the day). He was complaining how he was loosing people etc. Just a utter chaotic mess .

Once we arrived in Capri we were shocked that everything listed and advertised seemed to be absent. There was was no beaches we had access to pretty much NOTHING and we only had 1 hour of free time . This was simply not what we paid for and the treatment we received while being on this excursion was just simply too much for one person to bare . My group of four had a horrible time and we would like to reimburse . If the refund is not giving we will contact our banks as this was truly a scam and the customer service was simply disgusting.

Thank you for your time ,

Renée Saunders

The beautiful Capri
Jul 2019 • Solo
It was a beautiful trip but really there is not much included you had to pay extra for the boat tour and to take the sky tram to the top of Capri. Overall it’s worth the money for all of the transportation while getting a little bit of history along the way ... but be prepared to pay for local attractions that you would like to do.

Great trip
Our tour and our two tour guides were outstanding, I did not memorize there names, but they were genuinely concerned about our safety, happiness and wellbeing.
Capri is a piece of heaven on earth.
I would recommend talking a long relaxing walk on the island, and buying one of there locally made perfumes .

Beautiful place to see but tour could have been better.
Jun 2019 • Family
I’m giving this a 4 star because Capri is absolutely amazing and so worth seeing! This was a very long tour about 16 hours .. I didn’t mind the bus ride because of the scenery but I felt like this tour was a little rushed and unorganized. We had Ellie who was our tour guide. She was very sweet but needed a little more spunk/energy while giving this tour. Other than that, she was good. Thanks a lot to the bus drivers getting us there safely. Oh one thing..... the FOOD, free lunch is included but the food was not good at all! Be careful with the waiters there.... we were told that drinks were not included but the servers basically made you take the sangria that they gave to everyone at each table and then charged you $8 euros afterwards which wasn’t fair at all because it’s not like you we’re asked if you wanted it.

What you must do on this trip is the hour boat ride around the island ! It’s so worth it and so beautiful. It’s better then going on the blu grotto- which is nice but I heard you can wait 3-4 hours for going under a cave for about 4 minutes. When visiting Italy, I would recommend maybe not taking this exact tour but seeing the island of Capri. there’s nothing like it! I hope this helped.

We took the tour to fill in a spare day whilst in Rome. Generally good bus ride there and back. Really nice tour guide. You spend around 3hrs sightseeing on Capri. The lunch provided was disgusting and I wished I had purchased one the tasty looking sandwiches on display in shops around the general area. Overall a good experience for the time frame of a one day tour from Rome. My one tip. Don’t eat that lunch.
