Chef Monica is AMAZING!
My husband and I were the only 2 in the group so we got a 5 hour private cooking lesson with Monica. She explained everything in great detail and answered all of our questions. The tour started with trips to various stores and the open market where we bought the food we were later to prepare. We made 3 kinds of pasta and it was all so easy and fun with Monica's guidance. Our 5 course meal was OUTSTANDING and ended with a wonderful chocolate lava cake. We HIGHLY recommend this tour as Monica is great!

Had a great experience with "Laura and Monica." They were very sweet and patient with our group. It began at the market and finished in a beautifully transformed chef kitchen. The food was incredible and we had our hands in every part of the process. Had never made pasta before. I now have an appreciation for the art. Absolutely recommend!

Solid Italian Cooking Class--But Too Bad the Markets were Closed
Jan 2020
We were fortunate to have booked this in early January, so our group was quite small (a couple of 2 persons). The chef in charge (Victoria) was excellent--quite knowledgeable and full of opinions (mostly worthwhile). Because many shops were closed the day we went (it was a bank holiday), we did not have the experience of shopping in local markets for the foods we would cook--this was promised in the tour description. But we still had a nice walk through the Jewish quarter of Rome, across the Tiber river to the lovely cooking studio.

During the class we made 3 pastas, a chicken dish (authentic cacciatora), vegetables (artichokes), and a dessert. Making pasta by hand the old-school way was particularly stimulating (particularly working on one's arm strength for the kneading). There was also plenty of yummy wine to drink--in this case we had a Tuscan Chianti Classico.

While we did not learn anything new or earth-shattering about cooking Italian food in this class, but there were numerous nice details that we picked up from the chef. On the whole we recommend this class, though it would have been better with the marketing portion included.

Dear David, we appreciate your candid review and impactful contribution to the overall perception of this tour. We're sorry you could not shop for food, but we bet the casual walk through the ex ghetto and part of Rome's historical center was a special moment all the same. We hope we brought Italy's culinary traditions a little closer to you, and we thank you very much for choosing to recommend us. Kind regards, the Gray Line I Love Rome Team

Perfect cooking class
Dec 2019
This is the 3rd cooking class I have taken in Rome and it was my favorite. It was the perfect balance of taste and practicality. Prior classes we had taken were too technical and while the food was excellent, the reality was that we would never make the food again at home. This class struck the perfect balance of information and do-ability. Monica was our instructor and we learned how to make 3 types of pasta, veal, and tiramisu. Just wonderful! I highly recommend it.

Loved it!
Nov 2019
Had a wonderful cooking class, perfect size (5 students). The food was DELICIOUS. I loved all of the pasta, and it was nice to try some different things. We made a zucchini ricotta ravioli with some lemon. It was amazing. The broccoli cream sauce was also wonderful! I would recommend it to anyone. Loved our instructor, Monica as well.

Highlight of our trip to Rome
Nov 2019
We enjoyed our experience. First we met at a central location in Rome and walked with Chef Vittoria to an open market to pick produce, then walked to the butcher, the bakery and to the cheese shop. Next we went to the chef's kitchen and got hands on experience making ravioli, fettucini and cavatelli. We also prepped some of the ingredients (i.e. cut potatoes, tomatoes and mushrooms) and then listened and watched Chef Vittoria's food preparation. She emphasized the importance of balancing flavors in Italian cooking. It was so fun and the food was all delicious. I would highly recommend this class. We were emailed the recipes that were prepared during our class.

I’ve taken other cooking courses in Rome over the years, but this one far Surpasses anything I’ve ever taken before. The variety of foods prepared, three pastas, meats, vegetables and desserts were not only varied, but delicious and the chef was extremely attentive. You start out by going to the market and deciding what you want to eat, and then everything is purchased and we walk back to a luxurious place to cook. This is a wonderful course to take. The location is not just an apartment but a real cooking school and the setting is outstanding. Well worth the time and modest cost.
