Customizable stops with tasty treats at any time of year
Discover local favorites you may otherwise have missed
Partake in a Milanese tradition—the aperitivo
What to expect
Meet your guide at a designated meeting point in Milan, then set off to explore Milan’s hip and artistic food hub on a neighborhood tour. The group size is limited, giving you an insider’s overview of the area and personalized attention from the local guide. Get a peek at bustling markets and discover Brera’s vibrant restaurant scene with stops to sample local specialties and traditional Italian delicacies, from mondeghili (deep-fried meatballs) and silky prosciutto to artisanal beer and craft cocktails. Dishes vary depending on the season, so you’ll be guaranteed fresh and tasty treats at any time of year. Learn about the city’s evolving history, from its ancient origins and Renaissance-era canals —possibly designed by Leonard Da Vinci— to the futuristic business district of Porta Nuova. After you’ve eaten to your heart’s content, enjoy a Milan-style aperitivo at a popular arts bistro, before finishing the tour in central Milan.

Unreal tour!
Sep 2020 • Couples
This tour was amazing, there was only me, my boyfriend and one other person on the tour, which made it very personal. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the area and super friendly. The food we tried was so tasty, if you go to Milan I would highly recommend doing this tour!

Nice snacks but no context
Sep 2019
Had a nice walk around Brera area tasting various kinds of Italian food. Tastings were yummy and I especially liked the wine store as it had a great 100 year history and original store fixtures. Unfortunately the guide was not from Milan and she knew nothing about the history of the Milan neighborhoods or anything about Brera area except rich people lived there. Seems she just got us from place to place to try the food but no context about the history of either the food styles or the neighborhood.

Milan Food Walking Tour Of Brera
Jul 2019 • Solo
Loved the walking tour. Excellent guide. She clearly enjoyed her job. Happy, positive person. Delicious food. I really enjoyed walking throughout Brera to explore the neighborhood. There were only four of us which made it a small personalized tour.

Fantastic food tour of Brera
Aug 2018 • Couples
Our guide was friendly, informative and had a great pace - not too quick, not too slow! The guide spoke excellent English and was very knowledgeable. A very informative food tour of the gorgeous district of Brera, taking in a number of different locations. We enjoyed learning about the area, the history and tasting the food along the way! Excellent!

Great disappointment
Jun 2019 • Couples
I have experienced several exceptional walking food tours usually with Backcountry Culinary tours and they have all been worthwhile. The visit sites were usually selected for having excellent local specialities or historical significance. Naturally in Milan I expected the same type of experience and was willing to pay the price which turned out to be poor value . Our guide was very nice and informative but the site selections were mediocre to be kind. Our tour was a morning tour and our first stop was a pastry shop . We were given two small pastries without coffee or cappuccino ! You were lucky if you had brought a bottle of water. The remainder of the tour was equally disappointing both in terms of food quality and historic education. A random walk through Brera on our own would have likely been better. As I said I am trying to be kind with this review so I will end at this point.

A really good intro to the best food in Milan in a small group
May 2019 • Couples
Our guide was very friendly and nice. We got to ask a lot of questions and he was very interested in our experience during the tour. We had a lot of fun bonding over food and got to see many places to come back to. We had a very full belly after the tour! :)

I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. I took the tour on a fine Saturday morning and it was a great way to see the sights of the Brera region as well as sampling some delicious food. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and helpful.

Good, but far too expensive
Mar 2019 • Friends
This is a very well-organised excursion but it's also showing signs of running on autopilot. Groups of 12 are assembled at the Pattini bakery and assigned guides, with headsets for the commentary. The walk is then in the tight square kilometer of the Brera district, picking up snack-sized portions at each of five or six delicatessens like Rossi & Grassi, or modest restaurants. You couldn't replicate it for yourself because they wouldn't be serving risotto at 10.30am, but for 70 Euros, the headline price, you could certainly eat much more and much better in these locations. The guides are conversational, but don't really add a great deal to your understanding of either the cuisine or the history - and it would be a naive traveller to Italy who had never before tasted parma ham, parmesan cheese, mortadella, risotto milanese, meatballs, lasagne or gelato. I think it needs to be a lot more adventurous and to reveal a few more actual secrets of Milanese cuisine.
