Montalcino, Orcia Valley, Pienza, and Montepulciano: Wine- and Cheese-Tasting Guided Tour from Florence
A wine lover’s paradise, Tuscany is home to countless vineyards that can sometimes leave visitors overwhelmed. With this day trip from Florence, your guide will introduce you to two acclaimed Tuscan wineries in the Orcia Valley (Val d’Orcia) region for wine tastings with local experts. Free time is included in the hill towns of Montalcino and Montepulciano, and there’s even a pecorino tasting in Pienza, too.
What to Expect
Travel from Santa Maria Novella station in Florence to the Tuscan countryside and then hop out in Montalcino, the home of Brunello wine. With your guide, call in at an acclaimed winery to taste its wares and learn about the estate’s history from the site’s wine expert.

Continue with a walk through the town to admire the narrow lanes and surrounding countryside and then travel onward to Pienza. Here, explore the quintessential Italian hill town on foot, and sample its famed pecorino cheese.

Before your return to Florence, there’s time for a last stop in Montepulciano, another hilltop town, famous for its namesake wine. Visit a Vino Nobile di Montepulciano cellar for a tasting and look around as you learn about the town and its delicious wine.

Your day trip ends with a drop-off back in central Florence.
