Your tour will begin in central Florence, where you’ll meet your guide. Take off on la passeggiata, an evening stroll, as the Italians do, following your guide through the city’s historic center.
First gaze up at the Ospedale degli Innocenti in Piazza della Santissima Annunziata. Designed by the famed architect Brunelleschi, the building once served as a city orphanage.
Continue along the bustling Via dei Servi, where locals and visitors alike shop and sip café, before arriving at the most iconic structure in the city skyline: the Florence Duomo. Crowned by Brunelleschi’s orange dome, admire the exterior of the impressive cathedral and hear its history from your guide. Pass the Baptistery nearby and peer up at Giotto’s Bell Tower while you learn about the evolution of Florentine art through the ages.
Your next stop will vary depending on your guide and the interests of the group. Continue on to the Piazza Repubblica, alive with markets, cafes and street performers, or head over to Piazza della Signoria to see the Palazzo Vecchio, once home to the Medici rulers.
If desired, pause for a glass of local vino or some gelato and soak up the romantic atmosphere of the evening. Your tour will conclude after two hours in central Florence.
