About
This private tour by foot includes among others the following spots: Paradeplatz (one of the most expensive places in the world; suggested pick up); Fraumünster (more than just a church); Thermengasse (the origin of Zurich); St. Peter’s church; Lindenhof (a beautiful view point); Lenin’s house; Grossmünster (founded by a famous emperor), an ancient Trade Guild House. The tour can be adapted to your wishes and the route can be changed, for example the pick up place, the focus (more historic or more on the business environment).

We met Julian for the downtown tour on Monday 24th February. We had a good number on tour and a beautiful day to explore Zurich. Julian was knowledgable, charming and entertaining. He showed us some of lovely architecture as well as sprinkling the whole tour with interesting facts, both past and present. At the end of the tour he explained that, although the tour was ‘free’ there was an expectation that he would receive some monetary reward for his time. This would be at our discretion. Personally I prefer a fixed price. We came away thinking, after what others had given, we had been over generous. We soon got over it, but a standard price would be better. It’s not dishonest, it’s just uncomfortable. Hence 4* not 5! Sorry Julian!

we, as a couple, took this tour at the beginning of our visit and it helped us to know the history of the city(in detail) and the location of many points of interest in Zurich town. we wouldnt have known the importance otherwise. its a good exercise too.. surelt would recommend.

We have been to Zurich previously and marvelled at how beautiful the city is. This time we took a tour with Free Tours Zurich and our guide Ari did an amazing job of showing and telling us about the fascinating history that is Zurich! One of things that Ari did to make our tour fun was to teach us a Swiss song with yodeling!! He is very knowledgeable and made our tour a pleasure!! I recommend them to anyone who goes to Zurich!!!

It was a large crowd on Dec 31 2019 at 11am when I arrived at the meeting point for the Free walking tour.
For english speaking participant, Jonathan is the guide. He is not just good looking but he has a good knowledge, engagement and communications skill that helped him to managed the large participant. He make sure everyone can hear what he is explaining during the tour and he proved his statement of “swiss choc is the best” by giving us chocolate to taste. Overall me and my friend are satisfied with Jonathan and there will be a quiz at the end. It’s a fun tour we had at the end of the year with Jonathan. Oh i took a photo with him too! Thanks, erna from

Max was my tour guide and he was outstanding. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Zurich, and came prepared with photos and graphics showing the history of the city and its culture. I was provided with in depth information that you just cannot get on a group or bus tour. Was able to ask specific questions about the culture, all of the renovation work being performed on historical buildings, and the history of the various street markets. . Worth every penny for this personal tour! Highly recommend!

We were in Zurich for one day and missed the free 11 am tour. Luckily, Maria was available at 5 pm to pick us up from the hotel and walk us around the city for 2 hours. It was really nice! Maria brought the city to life with a bunch of fun but informational stories about Zurich and Switzerland in general. We left Zurich with a good feel of the city even though we only spent a bit of time there. Highly recommended tour. We loved it.

The tour was really well organized and showed the main sites in historical Zürich. The guide Daniel was very entertaining and knew the city perfectly. He recommended many great places to see and eat in the city.
Would definitely recommend it to anyone. They even have tours per languages (French, Spanish, English, Italian, German).
