    Hortus Botanicus
    Stop: 5 minutes -
The route might take us past the Hortus Botanicus. Founded in 1638 as an herb garden for doctors and apothecaries, it’s one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. They have a café that serves a set lunch menu on their shaded terrace and in the Hortus shop you can find plants, seeds, gardening tools, but also books and the cutest gifts.

Today, there was only me in the tour. I was given the options to go on another day with more people or go solo today, which I did. We agreed to not do a facts and figures tour like an old school history text. Instead we rode around interesting sites and talked about their

This was a fun trip I booked last minute because it was sunny weather and I've never had the chance to really explore Amsterdam. This proved a great trip to learn a bit of history and orient myself around the city and it's surrounds more. Bikes were very good and easy to use

Sunny weather in October- I had a sunny bike tour in October. (we did not have many this year) Helping you understand a bit of the cities layout is also a topic I like to touch on. But to admit, our guides are all informative and enthused to be showing people around. So thank you from the Team. Next time you are back think about joining again, our bike routes change according to weather, group size and ability. So even if we have taken groups out - its the activity that is fun.

If your thoughts are touring small neighborhoods along the canals with the picturesque houses, small shops and cafes, this is not your tour. If you are interested in low income migrant housing, dirty neighborhoods and places you wouldn’t want to go alone, this is your tour.

I was waiting for this review. And commented for the general public. If you would like to tour along canals in center of city with traffic and tourists there are lots of 2 hour monument tours on bike going to Anna Franks and the Jordaan as well as 9 streets. Our company in not into that. Our stories are about bike culture and the neighborhoods we visit throughout the year. If you take a phone that is always good when traveling. Big group bike tours- from my experience are bound to have some people left behind a light. this client was with the group until the last 20 min. My mistake in hindsight not making it clear at start when giving safety notes. In this case the group gave me a heads up and I went back - but cbraun50 left the area. cbraun50 did not mention in this review how she called and left the 2nd place after we talked on the phone - again apologies for not pointing out people should remain where they are when separated from the group?? In my 13 years of bike touring the city has never been given such a review. The generalizing is a bit offensive to someone who lives in the east, my guides included. And please if you do not like windmills, breweries, markets, the Amstel river, and small garden houses in a park then this tour is not for you- that is how we see the east side of amsterdam. to sum it up - being left behind is a bit scary and that is my mistake- since our tour it was mentioned at meetings (and here again for the public) the clients need to be reminded of what to do when left behind at a street light.

Our tour guide Daks was the best. He guided us through a 3.5 hour tour showing us Amsterdam through his perspective, interjecting a great deal of humor. Had great time and highly recommend the tour.
