I had this walking tour on a Sunday morning so the city was very quiet. The guide was good and knowledgeable. There were 4 of us in the tour so it was nice to be able to chat with everyone.

We had 4 chocolate tastings "4 placed" in total and for the workshop, we had some melted chocolate to shape and garnish with a variety of toppings. We were also shown in the workshop how bralen "stuffed chocolate" is made which was nice. The walking tour was around the city center and we saw some of the landmarks and learned about their history. We were also given a lot of restaurant recommendations along the way.

Overall, a nice tour and especially recommended if you are a chocolate lover.

My father and I are on a two week trip to Europe, traveling from the Netherlands, through Belgium, Germany and Switzerland in search of the best chocolates we can find, and this chocolate walking tour was definitely the highlight of the Brussels leg of our trip. Not only did Karla give us an in-depth history of making Belgium chocolates, but she also told us all about her country and city with so much passion and love for Belgium and Brussels.
We were lucky enough that it was a very small tour group of just my father and myself and were able to ask every question we had, but it also gave Karla the chance to show us some lesser traveled areas, explaining about the art and culture of Brussels, including the intricacies of the government, language, history, and legends and lore.
The best part was trying all of the different chocolates, Karla’s explanations of each type of chocolate, and the origin of the coco beans and how where it is derived from changes the flavor of the chocolate. We started off with some amazing chocolates from the beginning of the tour, but the last three chocolate shops had some of the best, most interesting artisanal chocolates you can’t find anywhere in the States.

My father and I both highly recommend this tour. The chocolates were amazing, and our guide was the best!

10/10 would HIGHLY recommend to anyone who loves chocolate and history. We were a group of 3 who had the BEST chocolate experience of our lives. We visited 5 local chocolate confectionaries and chocolatiers where we sampled 2-3 chocolates at each location plus some other treats and the workshop was very well done! Avo was an amazing tour guide who was very knowledgeable and passionate about chocolate. I would do this tour again and would recommend anyone to sign up for this tour with Avo!

Today I chose Marc’s walking tour with Karla as the guide. She is an excellent host to guide you through the area and educate you on the mystery of Belgian Chocolate. Her passion of the subject and her enthusiasm lifted the 4 of us to a new level of enjoyment. Karla is definitely an expert in chocolate and informed us of the global nature of the source of the raw ingredients. She was well versed in the intricacies involved to make Belgium the world center. Our tour was through several establishments that pride them selves in their artisanal approach to making uniquely flavored options helping us to gain some awareness and appreciation of what makes a great chocolate even better. This tour felt like it was a personal glimpse of Karla’s passion. Near the end we had an opportunity to make our own ‘beggar’s” at the workshop near Grand Place with the assistance of Mia.
The tour was by far the most entertaining and rewarding as we took home our own creations. I wold highly recommend this one for the value received.
Five stars to Karla and Marc’s walking tour of Brussels.

Excellent Tour, full of chocolate tasters in different shops. Thought the tour guide we had was extremely knowledgeable and had a good sense of humour and showed us lots of the main sights in Brussels. She went out of her way to make sure my partner who was feeling unwell (pregnant) was still included and for this I can’t thank her more. Chocolate making also a fun and tasted really good. Would recommend highly

This tour offered the best of a Brussels walking tour with the best of a chocolate tour. As we wound our way around the city, Carla our amazing guide, shared the history, architecture and culture of this beautiful city. Our rest stations were the best chocolate makers of Belgium. As we learned to savor and enjoy the various chocolate tastes, Carla explained the nuances of each piece of candy we tasted, sorbet tasted and cocoa sipped.

To further our education we went into a special classroom to experiment with chocolate and make our own bag of candies. It was just one more highlight of the tour. At the end of the tour, we were definitely chocolate snobs with taste buds changed forever and for the first time in my life I had too much chocolate!

Carla was a fabulous guide. Very knowledgeable and friendly in her tour. As a confessed chocoholic you knew some of her expertise was definitely experiential. Carla walked at a good pace always making sure everyone in the group was with her. There is quite a bit of walking involved so comfortable shoes clothing are a must. A must do tour!

What can i say except.....wow. When we arrived at the meeting point we were greeted by our guide (for the life of me can't remember her name) and found out that we were the only two people on the tour! It was a treat for my girlfriends birthday and it couldn't have been a better day, the tour was so personable showing us different locations around the city with historic facts and places we would never have seen without her. The chocolate itself....where can i start? I am a big lover of white chocolate and dislike dark and was told by the end that my mind would be changed, she was right! You get to try a different array of chocolates from different shops and also during the workshop itself get to make your own, the tour starts off with nice chocolates and as you progress the quality just gets better and better. The tour guide was excellent throughout and even made a birthday biscuit for my girlfriend, whilst also letting every shop owner we went in that it was her birthday, fantastic. Will thoroughly be recommending this to everyone we know couldn't have been better, thankyou.

I thought the tour was all about chocolate. It turned out to be much more. Our guide, Ithier, not only took us to 3 wonderful chocolate shops, he also showed us some interesting sites around grand plaza. I was not sure what I enjoyed more, those delicious chocolate we'd tasted or the sightseeing and the interesting facts Ithier shared with us. The chocolate workshop was also very interesting. Learned a lot about making chocolate. Will definitely recommend this to my friends and family.

I had the best time with Carla! She even shared her umbrella with me because I did not check the weather that day and did not know it was going to rain! I loved making the chocolate! And I’ve been eating slowly during the day! It was so yummy! The rest of the tour was amazing! I learned so much about the chocolate making process, and the different types and flavors of good chocolate! You eat so much chocolate on this your prepare for a chocolate coma! I really enjoyed this tour and Carla made it very enjoyable!

I did this tour with Raul who was knowledgeable about chocolate. The tour criss-crossed grand place - maybe in an attempt to stretch out time between tastings, which there were plenty of. Can’t fault the chocolate but if you’re trying to get in some sightseeing and learn more about the history of Brussels this isn’t the tour for you. I was hoping to combine both but it wasn’t to be.

The chocolate “making” was really not worth it - more spreading melted chocolate on a tray and adding sprinkles- which would be great for kids - except the in-depth discussion around chocolate that occurs on the tour would probably not be as enjoyable.

Hi Rene! Glad you joined our Brussels chocolate tour and workshop! Regarding your thoughts on the walking distance – the long walk was not to stretch out the time between the tastings, it is a calculated part of the tour, as the name suggests: “chocolate walking tour”. The chocolatiers are spread across the city, therefore we took this opportunity to organize a trip to the main highlights of Brussels. Whereas history tips and short stories are shared with the group, if you are interested to get an in-depth inside of Brussels history, we have another tour, dedicated exactly for this: Brussels Mysteries and Legends tour. This would have definitely helped out with your request. Regarding our Brussels chocolate workshop, we created an activity suitable for both adults and children interested in the process making of chocolate and pralines. The experience is based on the information our chocolatier is sharing and the explained processes, not only about creating your own chocolate. Furthermore, it is a great method to create your unique souvenir from Brussels! Hope to see you again Rene, maybe on our Brussels Mysteries and Legends tour
