We booked this as I'd previously done a chocolate workshop. This was really fun and informative. We all got involved and the waffles we made were delicious.
The only downside was a slow start waiting for other people to arrive. The waffle machine set up was also quite squashed for the number of people, and there weren't quite enough utensils for everyone, which was difficult for some of the excited children.
On the whole we had a great fun experience. Thanks!

Our guide picked us up at the Grand Place and I really enjoyed our short walking tour from the GP to the waffle making kitchen. We learned about the difference between Liege (Street) Waffles which are meant to be eaten without toppings because the batter is sweet; and Brussels Waffles which are crispier and less sweet. Then we were put into groups of 3 to learn how to mix our batter & how to use the waffle iron. To make the perfect waffles is so simple when you know the little tricks and what not to do! We made the mistake of having a late lunch before the workshop. Very important to not eat right before the workshop, you get to eat as many waffles that you make or anybody else taking the lesson makes (no one in our class cooked all the batter). The batter that you make as a group of 3 can easily make 16 to 20 large waffles. They also provide all kinds of toppings including local treats so you can try out different ones to see what you like or don't like!

We enjoyed the tour and waffle making (kids ages 7 and 11) but were hoping to make our favorite type of Belgian gaufres, the Liege type, but these are more like regular waffles. Still yummy but would have liked to know beforehand...

I was really looking forward to this experience based on the many reviews. I was expecting to make the sweet Belgium waffles with the yeast based dough. That is not what you will make. They make the “Brussels waffle” which is basically the same recipe as you might have at home. My husband and I were paired with another couple as there were 12 in our group which was a bit annoying since there was one group of two and clearly enough space for us all as to not have to work with another couple. The waffles were ok. There were several toppings placed in the center of the table (for 12 people) so if you wanted something you had to get up and reach between people to get it. The drink you are served was water, tea, or juice and only a couple people were offered refills. The guide was nice and tried to make it interesting but overall it did not meet my expectations for the price. Save your money and buy one of the delicious looking waffles in the store!

As someone who loves food, this workshop was the perfect choice for me. The meeting point did feel a little bit of a hike from the actual location, but it was really cool to be able to learn about the history of the waffle shops we passed as well as a little bit about the city. Once there, you get placed in groups of 3-4 to better utilize the limited amount of equipment and ingredients without having to worry about ensuring that you get to do what you paid to do. The waffle making process is relatively quick so most of the time was spent eating numerous waffles covered with the abundance of toppings offered to us. If anyone is on the fence about doing this, I would definitely recommend it.

We had a wonderful experience with the waffle workshop! The first thing we did was the short walking tour, which was actually very informative and interesting. Our guide throughout both the tour and the workshop was absolutely wonderful. My only regret was not getting his name. He was originally from Columbia and had lived in Brussels for 5 years but had much knowledge on the history of the city and the shops and attractions we walked past on our tour. The waffle making process was in a comfortable environment and we were put into small groups. It was very fun and a great way to meet new people. The amount of waffles you’re allowed is limitless, though we only had 2 waffles each, the record is 9. We took the leftover waffles home for breakfast. You’re missing out if you don’t do this tour/workshop! Great fun and great value for your money!

My 20 year old daughter and I attended this workshop and had a blast. The instructor Valentina was very sweet and talked us through the history of waffles . We made 6 large waffles and tried about 10 different toppings. We took the recipe home to try after the vacation , and Valentina told us where to buy some of the more local ingredients to take home with us. We took the extra waffles with us to have for breakfast the next day . Highly recommend !!

To first state the obvious, it was a blast learning how to create the famous Belgian waffles that I had been eating at shops all around Belgium for the five days before the workshop. But in addition to merely making the waffles, the way that this workshop was designed made it very easy to meet new people. There were five work stations and 30 or so of us, so we all worked in teams. I was in a group of five and the team factor combined with waffle making and decorating made an already standout experience stand out even more.

We also had an excellent guide, David. He was very talkative and warm on the walk over to the kitchen where the workshop was held and he was super approachable during the workshop itself. He created an environment which made me feel COMPLETELY comfortable asking for help on any part of the waffle making. This of course helped make the main attraction of eating the waffles even better!

The tour started at 2:00 and was supposed to end at 3:30. The walking tour to the shop took over 30 minutes and we did not arrive until 2:40. Even though there were nine of us in the tour, there were only three waffle making stations and three waffle irons set up. So, there were not many "hands-on" opportunities for people to make their own waffle. By the time we got to actually cooking the waffles, it was already 3:15, so the last part of making and eating the waffles was quite rushed. The end result was tasty, but not worth the price and overall experience.
