My friend and I visited Sounio, because we wanted to pay a visit to the temple of Poseidon. Our tour guide, Harris, is very knowledgeable, always willing to answer with details to every question and very kind - a combination that takes the experience to a different level!

Travelled on the city 90 minute hop on hop off bus. It was only 15 euro for 1 day (20 for 2) and the trip was fun. It is great to watch the driver negotiate narrow roads amid heavy traffic. Ear pods are given and there are many languages to choose from. After a while I used the issued map rather than listening to the recorded messages.
One downside was the passenger vaping in front of our seat which went directly into our faces.
Well worth doing to get an idea of the city area and where the sites that are of interest are located for follow up.

The trip to Cape Sounio with a smaller airconditioned bus was a really good one! We got a lot of interesting information and heard lots of stories during the trip from our excellent guide Charis. He also took great photos during sunset. The driver was 10+ as well - really smooth driving! I highly recommend this trip! We also stopped a couple of times in nice places on our way to Sounio.

Excellent value for money, we picked this tour up at the Acropolis, very friendly and helpful staff, offered a good selection of tours. We paid 20 euros and could use our tickets for 48 hours. We took the city tour which gave you the city highlights and also took the opportunity to visit the beaches outside the city, Edem not far and easily accessible on the bus, nice places to eat. Would recommend the hop on and hop off bus especially if you have limited time in Athens, great way to get around the city and great value too.

This was informative and nice. Athens is just beautiful and I will recommend going round first so that you can have a plan of where to visit. Please do dedicate a day for the sunset at the Poseidon’s temple. This is the best experience of them all.

I met Vasilis (Thalassinos) and spoke about the different tours and I chose for the hop on hop off bus within the city, Pireus and the beaches. He was really helpful and he gave me lot of info, and on my last day he was also giving me tips about regular bus strike and the manifestation in the city! Really nice and kind guy!!
The hop on hop off bus is always a nice way for me to go around a big city, and in this case, the price was also really competitive! Thanks Vasilis!

I took a hop-on and hop-off sightseeing with SIGHTS OF ATHENS last time and today again with the same company went to Sounio, a historical spot. The views are awesome and the representatives and the driver are friendly!

We went on the Temple of Poseidon tour in addition to the Athens hop on hop off tour. Amazing trip! Cape Sounion at sunset is beautiful! A highlight of our trip. Transport and pickup were all good and convenient. Charis was a great tour director, very helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommend.

I'll be arriving on a cruise the 1st of July early morning and will leave at 1800 hrs. Is the stop close to the port? Also, I plan to visit the Acropolis, meaning will hop off and pay for the tickets to get in. Will I still have time to continue looking around the amazing city?

I am thinking that the HOHO bus does stop at the cruise terminal. You will need to send a message to the company to find out the location.
It is an additional 10 euro fee to get into the Acropolis. We also bought into an hour long guided tour for an additional 20 euro each, which was well worth it! The guide was offering her tour to those standing in line to purchase tickets to get into the Acropolis.
Once the guided hour long tour was over you could stay there as long as you wanted or head right back to the HOHO bus to continue the ride around the city.
I'm thinking the entire HOHO route takes 2 hrs.

Two questions...Can you begin your tour at any stop?
And second...Once you buy your tickets, do you purchase them for one line only, or can you do the orange route one day, then a different route the second day (if you get a 48 hour ticket)?

I am not sure I understand how much time you are saying you will have to tour the city. To use the hop off/hop on bus tour you should plan on 4 hours at least. The museum, market center and palace were some of our favorite stops.
How often does the bus return to the cruise port?

We took the blue bus. We sat on the open deck with no AC but the weather was great. I think the bus has a retractable top in case of rain.
