Overview
Immerse yourself in the culinary history and practices of Greece with this 3.5-hour traditional cooking class in Athens. Tour Athens' Central Food Market to purchase produce, then head back to the kitchen with your guide to prepare dishes using the local, fresh ingredients. You'll learn along with a small group of just 15 people, which ensures an intimate atmosphere and dedicated attention from your guide.
What to Expect
First things first! We need ingredients so together with your cook you will head into Varvakios Agora, the Athens' Central Market where all of the freshest, best produce is sold in the city coming in from all over Greece: But it's not just a place for buying food; your cook will show you some hidden bars, cafes and shops that you can come back to for some more interesting experiences than just finding a restaurant in the Plaka!
Once back at the cooking studio you'll have some time to get to know each other and talk about the menu for the day, we use seasonal ingredients here so all of our dishes are using produce when it's at it's best. We also like to create dishes that give us a reason to talk about some of the places around our beautiful country so that you can learn more about local food traditions.

Then it's time to cook!

We are now in the late summer/early autumn period so you will be making:
- Athenian mini pies (including the pastry)
- Santorini fava
- Evian carrot salad with tahini yoghurt dressing
- Moussaka-stuffed tomatoes
- Peloponnesian orange pie

All classes include drinking water, a generous serving of local wine and a shot of local digestive liquor.

After the class relax with your meal in our yard. You'll have the opportunity to ask your cook about what to see and do in Athens while you're here!

Please bear in mind that we are a fun cooking class for people of all cooking experience levels who want to make a nice meal with a local cook for a really good price so if you are looking for a Michelin star standard cooking experience to match your top chef skills you'll need to find somewhere that provides it!
