I went in the winter where it is dark till 11:30-3 and nothing really opens until 12 pm. So I decided to take this tour that starts at 10 am. Our guide was very knowledgable and loved his city and welcomed any questions. I learned a lot and I did this on my first full day so I got a sense of where things are and what to do. Highly recommend!

Would highly recommend this tour. Not overly strenuous. The tour lasted ~1.5 hours. Our guide was Tómas and he was great. He lived his entire life here minus 1 year and studied history at the university. Super knowledgeable and he had a few jokes 🤣. Also he had great recommendations at the end. This is why I would recommend the tour at the beginning of your trip so you have time to do some of the recommendations. The tour is free, but donations are welcome. The tour was so great it was worth every bit of a generous donation.

Small group with an intimate feel. We had a younger guide who was very personable and informative. This tour gave us a good feel for the city centre, and how to find nightlife, food, drink, etc. After this tour, we didn't need a map. A lot of information that was very interesting.

We did the small group walking tour - our guide Sana??(sp) was fantastic! She was funny, engaging, and provided a great insight into life in Reykjavik. The smaller group (10 people) allowed us time to ask a variety of questions and made the tour more personable. Highly recommend!!

Excellent! I highly recommend this tour! If you want to familiarize yourself with the city, learn about the city’s history, in the city’s history, and get a little exercise…then this is the perfect tour! Our guide Erik was AWESOME! He was engaging, funny, and full of information. He made the tour a lot of fun…and they only ask for a donation at the end of what you thought it was worth. A great activity to do when in Reykjavik!

Amazing place. Such lovely painted buildings and the cathedral was an impressive centrepiece. Rainbow road was great and the Viking sculpture on the sea front was impressive. Lucky to see the Christmas decorations as we
Visited January 2nd and also the Christmas cat who fortunately didn’t eat us. Great shops and places to eat. Inside the cathedral is worth a visit as the organ is huge. Good to walk in daylight and at night as different experience.

Luca was absolutely AMAZING! We booked this tour months in advance and Luca reached out to make sure we that we were all set and if we had any questions to let him know. The tour was on our first day and very of our stay. Luca is very detailed, not rushed but went at a great pace! He brought us local food, drink and sweat treat to try.
I would highly recommend Luca. We even have reservations for one of the restaurants he suggested.

What a disappointment. This was our first full day in Reykjavik and we had booked this tour to get our bearings and get to know the city. We arrived not just 10 mins early, as requested, but 25 mins early. We waited in the correct location and our tour guide did not arrive. We looked inside the church and all the way around the statue just to be sure, but no. The tour was supposed to depart at 14:00 and we waited until 14:10, but given the very cold weather we did not fancy waiting around any longer. I have been on many walking tours, most of them free, and have never been let down in this way. Very frustrating as we could have spent our limited time in Iceland on another tour or activity.

We just got back from Iceland, and this was supposed to be the first day tour of our trip. But the tour operator didn't show up. We were at the church on 1:45pm (there was a family there 1:30pm for the same tour), and we waited until 2:45pm....In between, we called Reykjavik Sightseeing for 5 times and they was not able to locate the tour operator of that day (Unbelievable!!!!!)...I have to request refund through Viator since Reykjavik Sightseeing didn't initially process this booking...My husband and I ended up just walking around the city (relatively small and walkable place) by ourselves....

Hi there
Thank you for taking the time to review Reykjavík Sightseeing, despite your review not being in our favor.
To clarify, we are only resellers of the Reykjavík Walking tour tour as there is another company that operates the tour. That being said, we are just as disappointed as you and extremely sorry for this. When you called our office our staff member immediately tried to reach the operators and help you out. We later found out that this was a last minute cancellation, due to unforseen circumstances. We completely understand your frustration. Regarding the refund process, when you book a tour through a third party (e.g. Viator) and the tour is cancelled, you need to contact your booking channel directly to claim a refund. We cannot issue refunds for bookings made through a third party, as we do not have any creditcard details for those customers.
Once again our apologies. We hope that the rest of your Iceland holiday went smoothly.
All the best,
Reykjavík Sightseeing

We went on this tour the day we arrived in Reykjavik for our one-week visit to Iceland. It was a great way to get to know the city and get some good recommendations of things to do and places to eat. Our guide was excellent and a great representative of the Icelandic people. Highly recommended.

Sorry to hear that! Ours ran a bit late, but was very apologetic, and then we were off. I'd be sure to petition for your money back for the tour guide being a no-show.
