I couldn't fault anything about the boat or the crew. Everything was well organised and taken care of. This was my first time trying the scuba diving (an extra cost optional activity) and Nivi my guide made the experience really easy and explained it all really well. I highly recommend doing a second dive if you get the opportunity on the day, as the first time you spend a lot of time doing skills to make sure you can put the regulator back in your mouth if it comes out and stuff. The second dive you don't have to do any of that and also you feel more confident so you can actually enjoy the diving part and seeing all the life below the surface.

Unfortunately the conditions were rough which made for a bit of a nauseating trip out and back. I do recommend taking sea sickness tablets before you head off if the seas are choppy.

We had a great tour of the reef today with Passions. It was terrible rain leaving Cairns and yet everyone’s attitude about the day ahead was so positive and upbeat. We visited two great reef sites at Hastings Reef and despite the weather the snorkelling was excellent. The lunch was so good too, with multiple cold salad options and two hot dish choices. A great addition to the day was the talk on the way back to Cairns by Lea who gave an informative presentation on coral and marine life. This was also the first time we discovered that Passions is one of the last locally owned tour companies and about how much they contribute towards saving the reef with their donations to conservationists as well as planting new coral. For this reason alone I recommend choosing Passions but everything else about the tour was so well organised that you just can’t go wrong! Another crew member worth highlighting was Simon - he actively walked around checking everyone was feeling ok (from sea sickness) and he was so so helpful and approachable. A great day all round, thank you!

We just went on the snorkel and dive cruise today and I can't recommend this company enough. They provided us with amazing food throughout the day, including a variety of fruits for breakfast and coffee, a delicious buffet (with plenty of options for vegetarians), desserts, and hot tea (while we warmed up after the snorkeling). They also provided plenty of staff support in the water to ensure everyone felt safe and supportive. There was a great photographer onsite to take pictures underwater (at an extremely reasonable rate). Additionally, there was a reef educational discussion about the animals that live in the reef, the importance of conservation and climate change. And BEST OF ALL, you can feel really great about spending money with Passions because they participate in conservation efforts to support the reef, anywhere from turtle releases, to donating money to various conservation organizations and being eco-concious with the supplies that they use on the boat. I cannot recommend this company enough and the reef was breathtaking, photos can't capture the true beauty of the reef, so I would 100% recommend booking a tour with Passions of Paradise.

What a fabulous day! I'd never been snorkelling before and was a little nervous; however, the staff are sensational at what they do (particularly with the challenges presented by COVID-19.) After listening to the crew's safety briefings and instructions on how to use the equipment, I was set at ease and had the experience of a lifetime! We saw one location before lunch and another after. I highly recommend renting an underwater camera because you will want to show EVERYONE the beautiful sites you've visited.

BIG shoutout to Master Reef Guide Russell for the marine biology presentation on the way back to the marina. The information was fascinating, accessible, and engaging with all questions welcome. I loved hearing about what this company is doing to spread awareness of the challenges the reef faces and its vital importance in our world.

Accidentally booked snorkel and not dive so called up the day before as I realised this asking to change to book to dive. The customer care assistant said he left a note and I would be able to pay the excess the next day. Upon checking in the lady at the counter told me I pay the excess on the boat and to just let the crew know I want to do the dive. Crew were super friendly at the beginning.

We were able to change to dive no worries and they said if we get in and don't want to dive they won't charge us extra which was nice seeing as one of the people from my group did back out. Simone was a great diving instructor and was one of the two staff that stood out to us, I am unsure of the other girls name who was an Australian.

Whoever was on music had great taste!! The food was pretty average - definitely room for improvement.

Was upset to hear the photographer was sick so we couldn't get any pics underwater - surely have a backup as it is part of the experience.

Everyone passed out after the dive and heard some of the crew making some not so nice comments and found if you asked (some of) the crew questions one on one they weren't as nice.

When paying for the excess of the dive we we're charged more than the online price which is understandable however, I called up in advance hoping to change to the dive package especially since the customer care assistant said he left a note for staff.

I swam with a turtle and got to dive the great barrier reef so the experience was one I won't forget also like the companies mission and beliefs. The Catamaran is also lovely.

Overall good experience. The crew was amazing, shoutout to Erin for helping me feel comfortable scuba diving, and Simon for being so warm and friendly. It took about 2 hours to get to the Great Barrier Reef in which they go over scuba safety information. The water was super choppy when I went so we stayed in one spot. There was an opportunity to snorkel and scuba before lunch, then another hour after lunch to go again.

Only complaint was lack of food in the morning. The posting says there will be muffins, but there was only fresh fruit and coffee. Definitely get breakfast first since lunch was served around noon, so kind of a long time without food. Food was okay, not as gourmet as some reviews stated, but not bad.

Overall I would recommend this trip, they made everyone feel safe and comfortable on the water and were all incredibly friendly and clearly love their job! It was truly epic seeing the Great Barrier Reef, a once in a lifetime experience!

I was bought up to say nothing if you don't have anything good to say. In this case i feel I should share my story. After years of travelling and doing tours. I have never been so disappointed by a tour operator before. I understand that the weather and the conditions were a bit rough and rainy and may not of been the best time to take my wife to Cairns to snorkel and I understand the staff and crew are busy trying to attend to 70+ guests on the tour. I spoke with one of the staff about transferring the date of the tour because of the weather and conditions and they assure me that the crew would assist my wife with the snorkeling. I understand that my wife is not a very good swimmer, English is not her first language and her snorkel kept filling up with water because of the rough conditions. i don't understand why one of the crew belittled my wife in front of her fellow crew members and passengers because of her ability to swim, understanding of English and the snorkel filling with water. Surely my wife is not the first customer they have had to help see the reef in these conditions. All the crew member had to do was speak slowly and calmly to her so she understood. You are meant to be professionals.

My memory of the day for life. Since the crew were going to assist my wife snorkeling and teacher her. She told me to go snorkel so i could enjoy tour and at the next snorkel place we would go together. Upon leaving my wife on the back platform of the catamaran to go into the water, i remember looking back to see her over excited smiling face filled with happiness to be going in the water to see the reef for the first time that she forgot to spray her mask with anti fog. When i got back, she was bundle of tears saying that she is never going back into the water and it hurt me to see my wife like that. I asked her what had happened and she told me that the crew member yelled at her for not kicking her legs properly and taking the mask off. My wife said sorry me because she couldn't understand the crew member yelling at her and was embarrassed about what happened. I tried to find the crew member to inquire what had happened and was unable to find her.
To end on a positive note. The next day we told another trip, this time with Silver Swift. My wife got in water and snorkeled.

Hi Paul, Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. This is very unsettling to hear as we are in the business of creating lifelong happy memories for our passengers and we pride ourselves on our exceptional service. The conditions on the day were challenging and this can make it very difficult for our snorkel guides to communicate in the water. If we had known your wife was upset we would have done everything in our power to ensure that she had an amazing second experience in the water. Our skipper and trip director are available throughout the day and they would have certainly made arrangements for your wife, or the three of you together, to have a one on one experience if they had been made aware of a problem. We always do everything in our power to ensure we offer a fantastic experience from start to finish so we do regret that we didn’t meet your expectations. If you wish to discuss this further we welcome you to contact us directly. Kind regards, Scotty

We could not have been any happier with our experience today. We’ve been in FNQ for a week and a half and today was the highlight of the trip. We opted to do the introductory scuba dive and Simon was great at getting us in and comfortable with how it all worked. We loved it so much we opted to do a second scuba session, this time with Brayden who was also great. I highly recommend doing the scuba to anyone who is going on this tour, it is well worth the extra $$$!

On top of the scuba, the rest of the crew was brilliant as well. All full of enthusiasm and passion for the reef and ensuring all customers have a great experience.

We really enjoyed our trip a couple of weeks ago. The staff were so friendly and genuinely enjoy their work and aim to please their customers. I've been on similar cruises both in Australia and overseas where you really feel you're just a source of income to the company. We visited during Covid so numbers on the boat were reduced, but we just found all of the crew were friendly, personable, fun (even the PA announcements!), and very safety oriented. I'm not sure what the staff-passenger ratio would normally be like (i.e. in non-Covid times) but we were honestly blown away by the staff.
Plenty of space on the boat, great lunch including plenty of vegetarian options (it didn't taste like mass-produced food at all), good tips from crew on snorkeling (saw a turtle!), drinks from bar reasonably priced, talk from Russell on the way back was informative and entertaining.
Heaps of shade inside if you need, also lots of space in the sun if you'd prefer.

It's difficult to choose a company when there are so many, but we really couldn't fault Passions at all and were so glad with the choice we made. Would highly recommend and wouldn't hesitate to go with them again.

If you're taking a tour from Cairns to see the Great Barrier Reef then Passions of Paradise are a great choice. We arrived to a smooth efficient check in at the marina, were handed our boarding passes and walked down to the boat. On boarding we were quickly given a snorkel mask and flippers and sat anywhere inside. Whilst waiting to set off, they were serving fresh tea and coffee as well as breakfast bites to enjoy which was a nice touch. The crew came around and gave a hand with the forms and we set off with a quick induction. They sell anti-sickness tabs on board, but if you have any chance of getting sea sick I would recommend taking some in advance, we definitely needed them and were grateful we took them!

They are a great company to go with particularly if one of your group isn't a confident swimmer. A particular thanks to Celeste who was a guide in the water with my partner, who couldn't swim, taking her around and describing the coral and fish. Also a shout out to Jess and Matt on board who went out of their way to make sure we had a great time.

I did a single dive at the first site, and they kindly arranged so the two of us could snorkel together for 30-40mins before I came back to dive which was really helpful. Diving was well organised. If you do a single first dive you can't take your phone/camera underwater but you can if you do a second dive.

A buffet lunch was served between the two snorkel sites and was surprisingly really tasty! Despite coming back for my dive after most people had eaten and me having a second (and third) helping, there was plenty of food to go around.

We returned to shore with an informative eco talk on the reef which they served a cheese platter in the afternoon.

Passions of paradise really have thought about everything to organise the perfect day out.
