What to expect
Your Hobart sailing tour starts as you hop aboard your sleek racing yacht and set off along the River Derwent. While you witness what it takes to operate an ocean yacht like this, you can help the crew trim the sails and grind the winches, if you wish. Or just relax and admire the passing scenery, from the Hobart cityscape to views of Mt Wellington. Head toward the Iron Pot lighthouse, and watch for wildlife like seals and dolphins. Then enjoy stories from your skipper about previous sailing adventures over morning or afternoon tea featuring gourmet Tasmanian items. Your tour ends when you return to the departure point. When booking, select either the morning tour, which operates from October to March, or the afternoon tour from April to September.

This was a great cruise on a great yacht. Terrific staff led by Mark. Great scones made by Marsha. Fun trip with lots of information about Tasmania and things to see and do. Comfortable and stable.

Mar 2021 • Couples
Excellent morning/afternoon day out! Bruce and Jonno were great, super friendly and very entertaining. Wish I hadnt spilled the homemade scones and jam though as they were delicious!🙊🙊 Would definitely recommend and sail again with them next time we are ever in Hobart.

Do it, do it.. do it? :)
A lovely time aboard the Helsal IV thanks to Hobart Yachts, floating around with good company and lovely light weather.

So fun to have this on its side ‘burying the rail’ for a moment or two.

I can’t imagine sailing this from Sydney to Hobart (it does, it’s a 62 foot Maxi).. well I can imagine, I reckon it’s cold, wet, hard, a little terrifying and beautiful.

This on the other hand, was very relaxed, with lots of snacks and good chats.

A beautiful morning on the Derwent
Feb 2021 • Couples
I organised this sail as a surprise birthday present for my husband's birthday. I spoke to Mark in the phone prior to booking and he was extremely accommodating to our needs for a different sail time. This flexibility made the whole experience possible for us.
My husband was thoroughly surprised to be sailing on a boat of this size. We were blessed with a beautiful day, and although the wind did not pick up significantly, we got to experience Hobart from the river in such peaceful and calm conditions. Mark and the crew were very welcoming and great conversationalists. We learnt new things about Hobart and had a such a relaxing and comfortable time. I'm so glad I booked!

Awesome afternoon on the Derwent River
Dec 2020
Beautiful afternoon sailing the Derwent River - could not have asked for better weather, Mark looked after all on board re sailing and gave opportunities to anyone that wanted to test their sailing skills!
Marsha prepared snacks & drinks throughout the afternoon, amazing scones from Mark's mum!
We both love sailing and had initially booked our trip this time to Hobart to see the end of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race, with this not happening the afternoon sailing did provide us with a wonderful experience and great memories!

Was given this cruise for my 60th birthday.
WOW how good was it.
Mark was great with his knowledge and engaging with the passengers, Marsha helped look after my granddaughter and kept her entertained along with providing food and drinks.
It was a great day with family and others that were on the cruise.
Highly recommend this to anyone

Wind power. Serenity.
This was our second trip within six weeks, the first one was on a very calm river so we decided as soon as we got off the yacht to book again for an afternoon cruise hoping for a sea breeze. We got it on the second trip. The feeling of being powered by the wind, no other sound only the laughter of a group of friends having an experience to be treasured.
Thanks Mark and Baz ( Jimmy on our first cruise ) your treatment and care for your guests was wonderful, your knowledge of the river and surroundings ( natural or man made) was helpful and instructive. Being able to participate in crewing the yacht or not, your own preference, added to the experience. Thanks again and the scones were great thanks Marks mum.

Great way to see Hobart and the Derwent
Nov 2020
We were lucky enough to enjoy a great experience during our honeymoon on the Derwent with Hobart Yachts.
Skipper Mark and the Skipper from the other sister boat, Baz, were the perfect guides. We were taught a bit of sailing basics, showed the sights with a bit of local history and fed some delicious local food.
If you're in Hobart and want to see the city and surrounds in style, do yourself a favour and book sometime on board one of these amazing yachts.
The price is very reasonable as well. Thanks Mark and Baz, we will be back to take you up on your offer of the five-day charter!
