About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- frequent10 contributionsPenguin parade amazing rest was goodPenguins were amazing the trip was fine we had a flat so there were some delays but other than that it's good the sanctuary was nice. It rained while we were at the sanctuary. Brighton Beach boxes were cute but not worth the stop.Written 18 February 2025
- ireneaG1444WA0 contributionsGreat for family! We had a great time with Bree as our tour guide! She's very attentive and informative on the whole journey. The weather was the only thing that was a little unpleasant for us. Wind was strong and very cold! Make sure to wear warm clothes if you visit mid February. Otherwise the trip was very smooth and memorable.Written 18 February 2025
- v2dp0 contributionsLong but great day! Well worth it!It was a long but great fun filled day! Well worth it! The Brighton Bathing Boxes as a first stop were cute to see on a nice beach with a beautiful view of the Melbourne skyline. Then a long drive out to Philip Island to see the Penguins Parade after sunset with many great stops along the way to marvel at the stunning coastline. Most impressive was the Nobbies! Zoe was our tour guide and she is an excellent driver for such a long drive and gave us lots of great info and tips to see animals at the Moonlit Sanctuary and especially at the Penguins Parade. It is hard to see these cuties in dim light but she was right about where to sit and much better views of them when walking on the boardwalk.Written 18 February 2025
- william b0 contributionsBrilliant tour!Had a great afternoon with Raquel who was charming and informative and great fun. A really great afternoon tour of Melbourne which really helped us see lots of the best bits without walking for miles. Excellent value too.Written 17 February 2025
- 737JohnT7370 contributionsGreat experienceKai was our tour guide and he was excellent. He provided interesting commentary and was very helpful on all of our stops. We saw a lot of interesting animals in their natural settings the Penguin parade was fun. It was a long but fun day.Written 17 February 2025
- Cruiser3160830 contributionsWhat an experience! We were with Chris. He is a genuine good guy. The day was long but totally worth it. We had incredible weather, clear blue skies and mild wind. Brighton Beach and Woolamai Beach were beautiful. Paddled in the waves in both (so bring a towel). The moonlight sanctuary was interesting. Feeding the kangaroos was an experience. They were very gentle. Obviously the highlight of the tour was the Penguin Parade. Remember it’s after dark so bring layers! We upgraded our seats to Penguin Plus seats $96 What an amazing experience!!! One of the workers estimated 700-800 penguins came from the sea that night. To be so close to them was worth the upgrade. Chris is a great guide and we really enjoyed his commentary and company. When he saw animals driving he made sure all on the bus got a chance to see the animals and take photos. He congratulated everyone on keeping time back to the bus so that we saw everything on the schedule. Thank you ChrisWritten 17 February 2025
- G2046RYsamj0 contributionsWell worth the trip to Melbourne!Had the most amazing time on the Phillip Island Penguin Parade tour - it was a very long day (11:20am pick up and 11:45pm drop off) so do be prepared for that, but it was packed full, and Ashleigh was brilliant, kept us entertained the whole day with facts about Aus, Melbourne, and its native animals. We had a cooler (& windier) day than normal for the time of year, so it was chilly at times! Make sure you dress appropriately for the weather forecast of the day, as it will be colder on the island than the mainland, but the bonus of that was the animals were super active! We saw lots of wallabies, penguins, even a couple echnidas waddling around!Written 16 February 2025
- Rona S0 contributionsSpeed dating marvellous MelbourneBill and Mel were awesome guides. Full of interesting info and gave us plenty of time at each stop . Thank you for sharing stunning Melbourne with us!!Written 16 February 2025
- Danor710 contributionsMoonlit Sanctuary & Penguin ParadeBooked this tour last minute since my business meetings finished earlier. I was picked up at my Hotel by Michael (I’m petty sure that was his name). The mini-bus had max 20 people, I believe. The tour was fantastic. I went for the penguins but the highlight was Moonlit Sanctuary. Plenty of Koalas and Wallabies. The kangaroos kept their distance but I was able to feed lots of wallabies and signed up for the interaction with the Koala. I also saw Tasmanian devils, a spot-tailed quoll, several dingos and plenty of geese and other animals. The penguin parade was nice. I wished I would have seen more. I strongly recommend binoculars for any on considering this. You are seated at a distance. While they do walk up to the stadium as they enter their homes, it is pretty crowded and they are far. Maybe my expectations were too high here but I was really hoping to see hundreds of at a time. In reality, they come out in groups of 4-10 and slowly make their way up. Photography and videography is strictly banned. Employees jump all over you at the sight of a phone even if you’re just texting. Great experience. Plenty of other stops but these 2 really are the show.Written 16 February 2025
- Michael V0 contributionsGreat Ocean Road from MelbourneJai did a superb job as our guide! He was knowledgeable, friendly, and the perfect mix of enthusiasm and cheerfulness. A very long day seemed to fly by because he packed so much in without rushing us to make timelines. Starting with morning tea at Torquay and continuing down the coast was simply spectacular. Our time spent at Maits Rest in the Otway National Park was tranquil and the cool crisp air of this temperate rainforest was a highlight of the day. The stunning views at the 12 Apostles and Lach Ard Gorge are well worth the travel time from Melbourne. Tomorrow we are touring Phillip Island with Go West tours and fully expect another amazing adventure.Written 16 February 2025

We had three wonderful day trips with our guides Jai, Bill and Rob who are all very knowledgeable, humorous and thoughtful. Although the weather of the Great Ocean Road and the Phillip Island day trips was not as nice as we would like, we still enjoy the trips very much, especially the fantastic experience with the little penguins on Phillip Island as we witnessed their journey back home. Our guide Jai, Bill and Rob were all very kind and gave us a lot of tips during the trips to have the ultimate experiences. The scenery at the Twelve Apostles, the break at the Moonlit Sanctuary were also lovely. We had a lot of close encounters with the wallabies, kangaroos, koalas and other wild animals. The free city tour was a nice add-on to the trip and provided a very quick snapshot of most tourist attractions, but I would not recommend it to anyone who wants an in-depth experience with city. Overall we had a great time in Melbourne thanks to the day trips with Go West and our tour guides. Would recommend the tour to anyone visiting Melbourne.

Thank you so much for sharing your review! We’re delighted to hear that your trips with Jai, Bill, and Rob were such a memorable experience. It’s great to know that even though the weather didn’t cooperate, you still had an amazing time on the Great Ocean Road and Phillip Island tours. The penguin parade at Phillip Island is always a special highlight, and we’re glad you had a chance to witness it. It’s also wonderful to hear that the wildlife encounters, the Twelve Apostles, and the Moonlit Sanctuary were all such great experiences for you. We appreciate your feedback about the city tour—it’s intended to give a quick snapshot, but we understand that for some, a deeper exploration of Melbourne might be preferable. We hope to welcome you back again soon, perhaps for another adventure to the Yarra Valley or the Great Ocean Road! Thanks again for your recommendation and your kind words!

Visited Melbourne as a solo traveller and decided to do my first tour of the Great Ocean Road through Go West. The tour guide Bill was a well travelled individual and kept the guests informed throughout the journey, integrating his own experiences into the storyline which was fascinating to hear. The weather on the day was excellent and this made the experience even more enjoyable, with fully airconditioned transport, along with complimentary WIFI, the service was excellent. Having stopped for cake and coffee at Torquay, we then travelled to Apollo Bay and other picturesque locations, seeing local wildlife such as koala bears which was great to witness. Having been collected from a chosen pick up point at 8am and then arriving back into the city for 9pm, I believe this tour is excellent value for money and would highly recommend booking this, when visiting the city.

Phenomenal experience! Our guide, James C, was exceptional! He took us on an unforgettable journey today along the Great Ocean Road, sharing his vast knowledge of the region's history, geology, and wildlife.
James' passion and enthusiasm were contagious, making the tour feel more like a fun adventure with friends than a traditional guided tour. He expertly navigated the roads, ensuring our safety while providing breathtaking views of the Twelve Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge, and other iconic landmarks.
The small-group size allowed for a personalized and intimate experience, and James took the time to answer all our questions and cater to our interests.
Last but not least James took us to two surprise places at the end of tour which was not part of itinerary
If you're looking for a memorable and enriching experience on the Great Ocean Road, look no further! James C is the perfect guide, and we can't recommend him highly enough. Five stars isn't enough – we'd give him ten stars if we could! #Melbourne; # Tours;

I alongwith my son Sahil took the Great Ocean Road Tour through Go West Tour today alongwith 22 other travellers.
We were met by Sherif who was our appointed Tour guide for the trip.
I must say Sherif effortlessly navigated ys through all the landmarks, providing us with valuable insights into the rich history and culture of each place we visited.
His detailed explanations and Anecdotes brought every destination to life, making the experience even more meaningful and memorable.
His impeccable organisational skills ensured that all of us make the most of our time in each location, maximizing our opportunities to explore and discover.
Also it would be wrong if I miss out to mention the dedication Sherif showed to ensure the comfort and safety of every member of our group
He went above and beyond his duties to accommodate our needs and preferences.
Sherif's friendly nature fostered an atmosphere of camaraderie among the entire group and delightful memories.
He went beyond his professional expertise and it was evident that he genuinely cared about each individual's likes & dislikes.
Sherif your passion for sharing your vast knowledge and love for the various destinations we visited showed through in every interaction.
I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to Go West Tour team for organising a perfect itinerary and particularly Sherif for executing the perfect planned itinerary

Our Great Ocean Road Small-Group Ecotour from Melbourne with Go West Tours was absolutely incredible. Alisha, our guide, made it truly unforgettable! From the moment we boarded the coach, her friendly and professional demeanor made us feel welcome and excited for the adventure ahead. Alisha's knowledge of the area was outstanding; she shared fascinating stories and facts that brought the history and natural beauty of the Great Ocean Road to life. We loved all the extra insights (from perfect photo taking spots to lunch recommendations) she offered, which truly enriched our experience.
The tour itself was fantastic! The coastal scenery was breathtaking, and we saw wild koalas, explored the amazing rock formations at Port Campbell National Park and the Twelve Apostles were magical! But the highlight, without a doubt, was the helicopter ride over the Twelve Apostles! Alisha highly recommended it, and we're so glad we took her advice. Seeing those majestic formations from above was simply awe-inspiring.
Go West Tours did a wonderful job with the itinerary. Everything ran smoothly, with comfortable transportation and well-planned stops. A huge thank you to Alisha and Go West for an unforgettable journey!
We highly recommend Go West Tours to anyone visiting Melbourne who's looking for the best tour operators.

We have just finished a fantastic day with Rhys our tour guide doing The Great Ocean Road small group tour.
Rhys gave us a great commentary and even supplied us with spectacular weather. You will not be disappointed if do this wonderful tour. We stopped at many great viewing spots throughout the day. The Great Ocean Road tour is well worth its money with Go West Tours and we would recommend if you have time whilst in Melbourne to book through this company. Thanks again for a great day Rhys.

So glad we decided to devote a full day to this tour, and feel very lucky we got Mark K. as our guide…I can’t imagine anyone else who would have made the 14 hours fly by in such an enjoyable manner, despite holiday crowds & dodgy weather! Mark was quite knowledgeable (but also willing to admit when he didn’t have an answer to one of our many questions), keeping us informed & entertained with his witty humor. He interspersed his commentary with appropriate quiet time to enjoy the spectacular scenery (or nap on the way back) and was incredibly patient & persistent tracking down wayward guests at various stops to keep us as close to on schedule as possible. Extra points for recommending the noodle shop where we enjoyed a warm welcome & delicious dinner at the end of a long day. And yes, the Twelve Apostles were worth seeing, but so was all the wildlife (great drive-by birding & three koalas sighted). Highly recommend GoWest as an operator, hope to do more tours with them in the future!

My husband and I recently went on a tour of the Great Ocean Road guided by Steph. The tour itinerary was well planned, and Steph’s interesting anecdotes and lively personality added a delightful touch to the journey.
The highlight of the tour was undoubtedly the 12 Apostles, which we were fortunate to see against a stunning setting sun – a truly magical moment. While the tour was fantastic overall, it was quite long. It might be beneficial to drop one of the stops or reduce the number of pickup/drop-off locations to make the day a bit shorter.
Despite this, I highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to experience the beauty of the Great Ocean Road with a guide who makes the trip engaging and fun.

The itinerary passed through very beautiful spots which left us in awe most of the time. Our guide Bob provided very detailed information about all of them. We appreciated the fact that he talked slowly, which is very important when one is not used to the local accent and also he kept the atmosphere light by throwing little jokes here and there. All the instructions he gave were very clear. Inspite of the bad weather towards the end of the tour, he encouraged us to keep going and enjoy the beautiful site of Twelve Apostles.
Nevertheless, it was a very long tour which would have been exhausting on its own even without the rainy cold weather. The first stop could've been shorter and dinner might have been skipped.
In short, our day trip was a great one, so thank you, Bob & Go West Tours!

We are traveling with an infant 7 months old, will that be okay?
Written 25 September 2023
Road trips in a group is not ideal for infants.
It’s best to let the child be older like 2yrs and above.
Furthermore, the child will not understand the contents of the trip, the long journeys and winding roads may not be suitable for such a young child.

How much walking and stair climbing is involved. I'll be 78 when taking the tour. I can easily walk 1-1/2 miles, but generally stay away for unusually long or rugged stair cases.
Written 2 July 2023
There is not a lot of walking, mostly driving with several stops. The walks were mostly flat, though we did walk down stairs to a beach at one stop. Most of our fellow travelers stayed at the top rather than walk down.
The trip was great, saw beautiful beaches and rock formations. The trip was one of our favorite experiences from our 30 day trip to Australia and New Zealand. I highly recommend it!

Also what time does the tour typically returns to Melbourne CBD?
