Take a break in Mornington Peninsula
Mar 2021
Great trip. Well organised and kept to time arriving back in the city around 5.30pm. Driver well up with current affairs in Melbourne/Victoria. Importantly, the trip ran even with just two of us so we weren't disappointed and spent more time talking like old acquaintances. Oh and getting out into a wine region is always a treat.

Wine Tours Victoria to the Rescue
Feb 2020
We had a Mornington Peninsula tour scheduled with a separate agency, but we received notice the afternoon prior that they had not had enough people book that tour and the agency requested that we change our plans. Wine Tours Victoria saved the day. We got in touch with them, and within an hour or two, we were back on for Mornington the next morning. When we came downstairs in the hotel, Trevor was waiting for us and escorted us to the tour bus. Noticing it was empty, I mentioned that we would have the pick of the seats, being the first group for the day. Trevor told us "you're the only group, mate." We came to realize that the business owner had taken time out of his schedule to give us a last-minute tour, which was ultimately a private tour. We absolutely loved it. We loved how knowledgable Trevor was about every winery in the area. He adjusted which wineries we went to based on our preference. The morning tea in the park was a lovely touch, but Trevor's tour went far above and beyond anything we had hoped for. Fantastic tour, and we consider ourselves fortunate that the original agency canceled on us so that we could end up in Trevor's care.

Great day trip with fantastic tour guide

Had a great day down in the Red Hill region with John. Found us a couple of wineries that we weren't familiar with, but will definitely be buying from in the future.

Great day
Jan 2019 • Couples
Booked our tour quite late on our trip to Melbourne for the tennis and had a free day to fill.
Trevor our driver and host for the day was very very knowledgeable and a lovely guy too. Our tour was just four people and was a great day.
A nice touch and surprise for our first stop (book and you will find out 😉)
If you want a small group wine tour with a great host and have a great day then book without hesitation.

Trevor was lovely and very knowledgable about the area. Had great relationships with all of the amazing wineries we went to. Didn't feel rushed at all, only regret is we forgot to take photos!

Amazing day in the Mornington Peninsula
Oct 2018 • Couples
We enjoyed a wonderful day in the Mornington Peninsula with Trevor! We made the booking a couple of days ahead of our planned trip and there was very good communication with Vicki who helped me correct a minor error in my booking. On Sunday morning, exactly at the arranged time, we received a call from Trevor that he was right outside our hotel waiting for us. He let us know that as it turned out, we were the only people on the trip today. Soon we were on our way through the lovely ocean front communities south of Melbourne. We had a great conversation with Trevor, learning a lot about the wine regions and even horse racing (after another win by Winx!). Trevor had a wealth of knowledge about viticulture and the wine industry from his hands on experience and many years leading tours.
Our first stop was a morning break for coffee, tea and a lovely fruit bread made by Trevor. Trevor asked us about out preferences and wine tastes. He then came up a plan to visit some of the most spectacular wineries in the region featuring some very interesting and excellent wines. Over the day, it was very clear that the wineries knew Trevor and appreciated him bringing us to their Cellar Door. All the wineries made us feel very welcome and we tasted some excellent wines including some limited vintages. We did our share of stocking up but were limited by what we could carry back home. Mid way through the day we stopped to lunch at a Winery with an excellent on premise restaurant and enjoyed a lunch starting with a charcuterie plate followed by a choice for your main course. We had split the main courses accompanied by and excellent Mornington Pinot Noir.
After lunch we continued our tour to Yaby Lake vineyards where we enjoyed the last tasting of the day and the fantastic location.
Trevor then took us back to our hotel, continuing great conversation. We are so grateful that Trevor and Vicki confirmed our booking and took us on the tour even though we were the only guests today.
A great tour we would highly recommend.

Mornington Peninsula - Unique and wonderful Experience
Jul 2018 • Couples
First day of four day Melbourne Australia area wine region visits. Trevor hosted us on this day and treated us to very wonderful day. He is a wealth of knowledge about wine and also about the Melbourne area. We started the day at Paringa Estate Cellar Door tasting up to 12 different wines. All were nice. Really loved the 2016 Peninsula Shiraz, 2015 Estate Shiraz and 2015 The Paringa Shiraz!!Next stop was at Tucks Ridge winery where Libby tested our varietal tasting skills in a very fun way. Then it was on to Merricks General Store where we enjoyed a nice Viognier that would be perfect as a ‘knock off drink” at the end of the day. And here we had enjoyed a wonderful lunch. Final stop was at Hickinbotham which was a special request from the other couple on the tour. Fun place and nice wine to end the day.
We would totally recommend this tour. Trevor did a great job of tailoring the tour to our taste and request and the lunch was so much more than we expected. Definitely would go back, especially to the Mornington Peninsula area.

Very disappointed.
Feb 2018 • Couples
We booked this tour at the last minute through the CBD information centre in Melbourne. Last minute however the tour operator was happy with that. We were a group of 4 and the cost was $180pp. Normally I would do some research but we took a punt as wanted to go to Mornington Peninsular and we were able to book this operator.

He apparently had no internet so was not able to email any itinerary although we could ring if we wanted.

Picked up by John. He was nice and talkative. We picked up another couple so that made 6 of us.
Although John was chatty he didn't seem to know too much about the wineries in the area. We stopped off for a tea and cake in a rest area on the way that John had for us.

Four wineries in total. The first one we were received by a gentleman who didnt seem too enthusiastic at all. I had to ask for water and he dumped the jug out of reach. He proudly told us how he had to ban some people from a recent tour as he decided they had had too much beer. He also remarked about even managing to sell something on one tour. We bought some desert wine.

The next winery was more welcoming however I was beginning to get the feeling this tour could be as last minute as we were in booking it!

Lunch time and our guide told us that the winery was not expecting us. Really! Lunch was interesting. My lunch was lovely however 3 on the tour had steak and chips. Nobody was asked how they wanted their steak cooked. One couple swapped their plates with each other. Their plates had no greens just loads of french fries. Some people might like that maybe.

I went outside afterwards to take some pictures and arrived late for the tasting. The gentleman behind the bar ignored me and I eventually asked for a glass for wine tasting. Once more I felt like a nuisance.

We seemed to be back at our hotels much quicker than the arrival at the vineyards. For $180 I expected more. I have been on a few wine tours- some better than others- this one doesn't rate at all for me and I wouldnt recommend.

If we were so last minute that arrangements were ad hoc then please don't accept money. It felt like there was no real relationship with this company and the wineries.

Despite this we had a fantastic time in Melbourne!

Hi Jansandmike, I'm sorry to hear that you feel that your tour felt last-minute. As we visit many independent boutique wineries, all tours are coordinated individually with every winery we visit. When a tour is booked last minute, we do all we can to ensure we can procure a great selection of wineries to visit, unfortunately it looks like we didn't meet your expectation this time. We never want our guests to feel like a nuisance, please email Trevor at info@winetours.com.au if you'd like to discuss this further, because we'd love to turn the experience around for you. Warm Regards, Luke Martinez Wine Tours Victoria

Shambolic organisation
Nov 2017 • Friends
Recently paid $155 per person to join this tour. You would think for that kind of money it would be a professional tour. It wasn't. It was shambolic at best.
There was no confirmed itinerary and our host thought it was a great idea to try to book in to wineries in front of us, so we saw how many rejections he was getting,
He decided to wing it and just "drop in" on ones we passed. One was even closed!
Dropping in meant no one was prepared for us, and we got paid the barest of courtesy attention at one.
Lunch... lunch was a two course, yet we waited about 40 minutes for the entree - an antipasto platter. Lunch took about 2.5hrs, which should have taken no more than 1.5hrs for what it was. Just ate into our wine tasting time.
The only saving grace for this one was one couple on the tour that were really sound. The other saving grace was this was soooo poorly run that it became laughable and the entire group just found it a joke.
The owners response was less than inspiring, suggesting I was wrong on every. Sadly Trevor Armstrong, the PAYING customer is never wrong.

WOULD STRONGLY SUGGEST FINDING SOMEONE ELSE FOR A TOUR.

Hi Simon, I'm sorry to hear that you've had a negative experience with us, Thank you for taking the time to share it. We are extremely disappointed for you and for ourselves that your experience was not what you expected. For us the only acceptable result is that you leave us at days end thinking that was a great way to spend a day. One of our major strengths is that we are able to change plans to suit the guests, to provide a very personalised experience as noted by other guests on tripadvisor reviews. Unfortunately due to a few factors including the tour being booked the night before, our ability to plan this tour well was not up to our normal standard. However, with all that considered we still managed to visit 5 wineries on that tour, which is in the upper limit of what we normally visit (4-5 wineries per tour). With that said, I'm sorry that you've had this experience, please reach out to us at info@winetours.com.au. This is our fourth negative feedback event in our history, and our 1st negative review in three years, so we're deeply concerned and will ensure that this does not happen again on future tours. Best Regards, Luke Martinez
