I'm so grateful to have met Timea, she made Budapest come alive for me! As we explored Liberty Square, the Doheny and Kazinczy Synagogues, and the Shoes on the Danube bank, Timea talked about her own Jewish experience and that of her parents and grandparents. She presented the very complicated relationship Hungary has had with it's Jewish people and she's a wealth of historical knowledge. Another highlight was Weinberger Judaica, where i met George, the owner. I bought several books and enjoyed his interesting collections. Timea also made sure to point out many of the incredible Art Nouveau buildings which make Budapest so beautiful. I highly recommend this or any tour of Budapest with Timea, she's one-of-a-kind!

There are no words to describe how amazing this tour was. Timea was engaging, insightful and knowledgeable. We learned so much from her and hearing about her personal family stories. We thought we knew a lot about the Jewish history in Budapest - turns out we did not. Spending the time with Timea was absolutely one of the highlights of our visit!

This tour is incredible with so many beautiful sights. Our guide,Timea, was amazing! She was so kind and very knowledgeable. She shared her stories of growing up in Budapest, making the tour even more interesting. She also gave us a TON of information to continue our learning once we returned home. I HIGHLY recommend this tour if you are interested in Jewish history.

We are so grateful to Timea for the incredible tour of the Jewish Quarter and other areas of Budapest. She gave our trip a much deeper meaning through her vast knowledge of the history of the city. This awareness comes from a deep connection to the city, as she grew up in Budapest, and generations of her family have been rooted there.

I highly recommend Tímea! She accommodated our student group of 16 and was very flexible. We saw the Great Synagogue, stumbling stones, the Gozsdu Courtyard, the last remaining piece of the ghetto wall, the Rumbach Synagogue, and the Kazinczy Synagogue (among many other things). After the official tour, she provided Budapest recommendations to our students. In addition, she provided further reading and resources for us to reflect on afterward. Her life, perspective & personal connection are invaluable! She welcomed questions and made the tour very interactive. She is extremely kind, personable, and approachable. We are grateful for the experience!

We felt honored to take a private tour with Timea Tarjani. This choice was based on relatives recommendations and other positive reviews. Our purpose was a pilgrimage to learn about the Jewish history of Budapest. Timea's comprehensive tour did not disappoint. From the moment we met her we had an instant connection. Her passion and knowledge came from personal experience that was not biased. Her honesty, integrity, and kindness made her an ambassador for Budapest and her country. We can call her our friend. It was truly an enriching experience we will never forget.

I found Tímea's tour on Trip Advisor and she was my first choice after studying the reviews. My wife and I did a half day private tour and the best thing about the tour was the insight she was able to convey about the history of Judaism in Budapest, about how communism effected the people, current life in the city, a tasting of food and treats and even and even an introduction to ruin bars.

Timea provided not only a history but brought stories to life telling her family stories. For example, when she explained the Shoes on The Danube, she read to us an excerpt from her grandmother's diary about witnessing the event. We saw not only the synagogues but hidden sights like a section of the ghetto wall.

She brought to life what it was like growing up and living under communism. As we toured the Jewish Quarter and walked in buildings she explained how homes were taken away and divided and turning them on to numerous apartments. It was an enlightening experience which I never really understood from books and college.

We stopped for Chimney Cakes, a local treat, that was cooked over a wooden fire. We sampled local cuisine for lunch at a ruin bar (a style of bar popular in Budapest).

Timea not only gave a great tour but brought it to life and made it a personal experience. By the end of the tour we felt like Timea was like a lifelong friend having shared so much about her family. That evening she emailed me with suggestions on sights and restaurants she thought we would enjoy during our stay.

I wholeheartedly agree with all the reviews (except the guy who reviewed the wrong tour), this was an excellent tour. I am writing this review upon my return home two weeks later and realize the impact of this tour in that I keep thinking about various insights I learned.

Hiring a private guide is my new favourite thing to do when we're visiting a city. We can go at our own pace and ask as many questions as we want. However, the quality of the guide makes all the difference. At the conclusion of our guided tour in Budapest's Jewish Quarter, not only did we have a deeper understanding of Budapest's past and political present, but we felt we had made a friend. Timea is a knowledgeable and considerate guide. Her English is very good. She met us at our hotel on time, helped find a nice local shop when it was clear we hadn't dressed warm enough for the weather, and had a good sense of humour about our need for hot soup, spoons or no spoons! She expertly adjusted her course of instruction based on the questions we were asking and the things we found interesting. When we returned home, this tour was what we kept telling our friends and family about. If you are visiting Budapest, we highly recommend booking this tour with Timea.

Timmea was terrific guide for both adults and kids. I would do it again for sure next time I’m in Budapest. She has easy going style but kept us on track and was a real pleasure to interact with. One of the highlights of our trip.

By change of circumstance, we toured with Timea because our original guide was under the weather. We are just so pleased with our two days (4 hours each) walking tour with Timi. We covered a good number of places and what is best is the in-depth perspective from Timi, which enabled us to see a lot of Budapest through the eyes of a local. Among other places, we visited Triangle Synagogue and walked around the Jewish Quarter, stopping by to sample Rachel's Flodni (dessert), and lunch at STEG for their fish soup and dishes (yum!). Apple strudel is also a must and it happened that the apartment where we are staying is near one place that sells really good ones! All in all, we felt enriched after the tour and definitely recommending Timi to our friends!
