What to expect
  • Learn the basics of Hungarian cuisine at this deliciously inspiring cooking class and small group tour of Budapest's Central Market Hall. If you've elected to eat breakfast at the market, meet your guide at 8:30am at the Burger King just across the street from the Central Market Hall. You'll embark on a half-hour tour of the grand Central Market Hall, tucking into a hearty local breakfast as you go.  If you haven't chosen to eat breakfast as part of the tour, meet your guide at Burger King at 9am and venture into the Central Market Hall; you'll linger for close to an hour over the stalls, and will join in as your guide purchases ingredients for the cooking class and shares some tidbits about Hungary’s culinary history. After the Central Market Hall tour winds down at 10am, hop in a cab and motor over to the nearby professional kitchen. Your guide will share a delicious introduction to Hungarian cuisine and will walk you through the menu of the day, featuring traditional and seasonal dishes (vegetarian menus are available upon request). From 10:30-12:30, with the help of your guide, prepare your very own three-course Hungarian feast, after which you'll sit down together to sample the fruits of your culinary labor (and sip a glass of exceptional Hungarian wine). The tour ends at the professional kitchen.

We had a great experience with Bernadett! We had the chance to cook and eat Hungarian food! Everything was delicious! The place was clean and very well organized. If you like to try new flavors, this is great opportunity!!!

Authentic cooking experience and market tour
Jan 2020
What a great way to begin a trip! On my first day in Budapest, we began with a market tour where our guide taught us all about the local delicacies and alcoholic beverages providing some samples as we wandered through the market. We then hopped in a car to the Chef Parade cooking school where we made Hungarian goulash soup, Chicken Paprikash and Hungarian crepes for dessert. It was all delicious and so much fun. I felt prepared to tackle the local cuisine after learning about it from an expert.

This was absolutely wonderful! We did it a couple years ago and it was just us with the cooking teacher. Gave us a great understanding of Hungarian food and culture and loved the food we cooked.

Thank you so much for leaving feedback! Our goal is to be able to introduce our guests to the Hungarian culture through gastronomy and reading that we managed to that is always super rewarding! I hope to be able to cook together once again!

Great experience
Jan 2020
We went on the Market Hall Tour and cooking class with a lovely chef. On the market tour she showed us all the traditional kinds of bread, vegetables, wine, sausages, pickled vegetables, cheeses ect. She boughts us samples of both sausages, pickles vegetables and bread/pasteries to taste!
In the kitchen we cooked 3 lovely courses. It was very hands on and the chef guided us and explained everything as we did it. There was lots of different beverages to drink from during the whole day including different wines, beers, soft drinks and palinkas. The kitchen was beautiful, clean, cosy and homely. We had fun and learnt a lot from experience. It was definitely worth every penny and it is something we will remember and talk about for a long time!

Overall, pleasant but...
Dec 2019 • Family
Skip the breakfast option, not worth the money and our guide showed up late so it really was a waste of money...we had maybe 15 mins to grab some cold pastries. Also, the experience lasted from 8:30-2:30...way too long. I think this was because there were 11 of us in the group, too many if you ask me. The guide/instructor was fantastic though. She made the experience great.

Dear Brandy, Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a detailed review. I have talked to our guide to find out what happened. First of all let me apologize for the few minutes, with which she was late, it is never acceptable to have our guests waiting. On the other hand, she said she asked what would you fancy for breakfast and since you said you already ate at the hotel, the pastries would do, considering the hearty lunch you were to have. But I am sorry if you were not 100% satisfied with the experience. We are always trying to make sure that we provide the best service we can, and deliver what was promised. I am glad that you had an all in all great experience.

Fantastic. Great experience. Will be able to reproduce these recipes once we are home. The instructor was excellent. I booked early and was able to work with the school to select the 3 dishes I wanted to learn to make. Thanks
