Itinerary

Day 1: Reserva Natural Atitlán (a.k.a. Atitlán Nature Reserve)

Stop At: Panajachel, Panajachel, Lake Atitlan, Solola Department, Western Highlands
Our group tour starts in Panajachel. This small town is best used as a base from which to make daytrips. Tour members would be arriving at different times. Some may be jet lagged while others, not. Those who arrive early enough and have some energy could join us at Reserva Natural Atitlán. It is a 15-minute drive away from the center of town. We would make convenient arrangements for you to join the rest of us after you have checked into your room. Expect to see some unique-looking animals inside this nature reserve.
Duration: 30 minutes

No meals included on this day.
Accommodation included: We finalize room bookings about 10 days before departure. We choose only quality accommodation. We'll keep you posted.

Day 2: Exploring Indigenous Villages & Paragliding Over Lake Atitlán

Stop At: Lake Atitlan, Lake Atitlan, Solola Department, Western Highlands
Today we are to be taken to the dock in Panajachel. From here, we are to take a boat to explore three traditional villages surrounding Lake Atitlan: San Pedro, San Juan and San Marcos. Although the cultures of these villages are influenced by the Maya people, each has its own personality and distinctive indigenous style. Today’s tour ends in Panajachel around 2:30pm. If the weather is good, note that some of us may be going paragliding over Lake Atitlán. Let us know if you are interested in adding this activity to your tour to Guatemala.
Duration: 4 hours

Meals included:
• Breakfast
Accommodation included: We are making a daytrip from Flores. The hotel is there.

Day 3: Chichicastenango Outdoor Market

Stop At: Chichicastenango, Chichicastenango, El Quiche Department
Let’s make a daytrip via a 2.5-hour drive to Chichicastenango, a town popular specifically for its Thursday and Sunday market. Expect to see vendors selling traditional attire, masks, handicrafts, food, flowers, pottery, wooden boxes, condiments, medicinal plants, candles, pom and copal (traditional incense), cal (lime stones for preparing tortillas), pigs and chickens.
Note: If Day 3 of when you begin this tour does not naturally fall on a Thursday or Sunday (when the market is open), then other fun arrangements would be made for you. Don't worry!
Duration: 4 hours

• Breakfast
Accommodation included: We are making a daytrip from Flores. The hotel is there.

Day 4: Sunrise Hike, Kayaking on Lake Atitlán & Relocating to Colonial Antigua

Day 6: Exploring Colonial Antigua

Stop At: Antigua, Antigua, Sacatepequez Department
Surrounded by 3 enormous volcanoes and mountains and otherwise famous for its well-preserved Spanish Baroque-influenced architecture as well as a number of colonial-era landmarks, this town is unarguably Guatemala’s most beautiful. Antigua was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979. There is no need for a guided tour today. Simply wander aimlessly. Antigua is very compact and easy to walk around. Most tourist attractions are located in an 8-by-8 block area, less than 1 kilometer across.
