Highlights
  • Victoria Falls walking tour on the Zambian side
  • See the falls on foot for a more intimate experience
  • Admire views of both sides of Victoria Falls from Livingstone Island
  • Swim in Devil’s Pool at the edge of the waterfall
What to expect
  • Meet a guide on the Zambian side of Victoria Falls, where you’ll pay park entrance fees and set out on foot to the edge of the waterfall, following a relatively easy trail. When you reach Livingstone Island, cross to the eastern side for views of Rainbow Falls and Horseshoe Falls and then see the main waterfall from the island’s western edge. From this angle, it’s common to see rainbows in the rising mist, and it’s a completely different experience than viewing Victoria Falls from Zimbabwe. The next stop is Devil’s Pool, where you’ll have the option to swim upstream in the slow current, sitting at the very edge of Victoria Falls, a short distance from the powerful main channel. The trip concludes at the original departure point.

Exciting & Great Photo Op
Dec 2019
The Devil's Pool is a naturally formed/carved small basin with an fairly calm eddy of water right in between all the rushing waterfalls at Victoria Falls. It is an adrenaline rush to lay across the rock shelf at the edge and look straight down the falls.

PLUS: Really exciting; great photo opp; guides dedicated to keeping everyone safe.

MINUS: The afternoon "tea party" afterwards could have been skipped. Doesn't really add to the experience. A simple beer or soda at the end would have been fine, without a sitdown experience for 45 minutes or so.

Not an activity for those without decent swimming skills (there is moderate swimming required for a stretch, and you need to follow the guide's directions of exactly where to swim to avoid being swept off in the stronger currents that run nearby - but it is safe). Not recommended for the elderly. Also: do not go barefoot because of the rock section you will walk across in reaching the swimming areas: wear watwerproof sandals (not flipflops, something secured to your feet with straps, as there are sections you will be swimming).

Do NOT buy this tour!! Look elsewhere!
Oct 2019
Actually experience of Devils Pool was just awesome! You should try it if you are visiting in dry season. But just NOT from this company.
My rating for this is ... you only have to pay this experience at US$75, NOT $160. I stayed at Sherwater Villege which was close to the city center of Victoria Falls, including the transfer, only cost you $80. This tour doesn't include transportation, nor park entrance fee. Wherever you are staying in Victoria Falls, take a taxi to the border and rest can be easy walk to the meeting point. There are many other offers around same price but others are included transportation, and speed boat experience.
Also I have a hotel staff to call Tamuka Travel during a bussiness hour, nobody answered a call. Tamuka Travel marking up 200%, I been in Hospitality industory for more than 30 years, working with so many different countries but I have never heard of this kind of scam.

And to Viator, I never thought you feature this company, your accountability went down for me. Hope you can make sure that whatever you dicided to feature on your website you are accountable and clairfy the details.

Hello, thank you for the time taken to post your review and we’re sorry you feel ripped off. Firstly the $75 covers access to the pool. As this is a natural pool that takes a very small amount of people you’ll most likely find that you cannot get a booking to this activity. We have guaranteed spots available that we’re able to sell that ensure you get to experience this magical activity. We feel that for these reasons we offer an excellent value package which the majority of our customers love, as seen by the reviews. May you indicate the full cover insurance on the vehicles and well experienced guides with detailed information of the activity to ensure their safety, no bridge fees to be charged to clients as it will be included. Failure to get to the activity while you are with our guide for the reason of visa or immigration delays you are guaranteed to get another slot or get 100% refund depending with what you chose which you can’t do when we don’t pick you there is no refund. Constant communication is done between the driver and the office to ensure smooth movement and conduction of activity as we take responsibility of the client from pick up point Kind regards Tamuka Travel

Awesome experience
Oct 2019
I booked this tour for 8 people through Tamuka as the official tour company , Tongabezi, doing this tour is sold out for the day we wanted. The pick up was on time from our hotel in Zimbabwe. When we reached the wharf, we were endorsed to the Tongabezi crew. Nevertheless, we had a wonderful time in the island and the pool. The lunch was well prepared and very good. Transfers were excellent and one of the driver, Simon, waited for us for more than 30 mins in the Zimbabwe border as we had to wait for our friend who did bungee jumping. Overall, we had a great experience with this company and I would highly recommend it.

Swimming on the Edge!
Sep 2019 • Solo
The tour company did a great job of communicating and was on time for pick up to start the tour. We hustled out to beat the other groups and ensure we each had time to enjoy the swim and get plenty of photos! My favorite part was laying on my stomach and peering over the edge (while my feet were safely being held). Overall great guide, excellent photos and experience!

Amazing Experience
Sep 2019 • Couples
We had an absolutely amazing time at Devil’s Pool. Tamoka Travels went above and beyond making sure that we were able to participate in this amazing experience. When we tried to book through the website, the company that runs Devil’s Pool said that a private group had reserved the entire island. But Tamoka was able to get us a reservation and arranged an awesome experience. On top of that, it was our honeymoon, so we really appreciated their effort. Would definitely book with them again!

Intimate experience of the Falls
Feb 2019 • Couples
We actually visited "Angel's Pool" because the water was too high to go in Devil's Pool. However, the trip to Livingstone Island was well worth the time and money. The falls are magical. Being in the water next to the falling water is thrilling. The guides take excellent care and make sure you don't get hurt while also being outstanding photographers, ensuring you will have positive memories to bring home. Be sure you bring money to tip both the guides and waitstaff who provide the meal at the end. There are changing rooms if you bring dry clothes. They provide towels and raingear.

Exhilarating, and I felt totally safe!
Dec 2018 • Couples
What an exhilarating experience, to lean over the side of a waterfall as it rushes past you! Worried about safety? Don’t be. I had my concerns as well, but once there felt completely safe the entire time. There are several people there to help ensure you stay safe, and as long as you follow their directions (and they aren’t difficult to follow) you will be totally fine. They also will not make you do anything you are not comfortable with. I will say that this trip, although advertised as both Devil’s Pool and Livingstone Island, was really just get out to Devil’s Pool, hang out there for awhile, and then head back. We booked the tour specifically to get to Devil’s Pool, so that was okay with us, but if you want a true tour of Livingstone Island where you learn about its history, etc. for half an hour, this is not the tour for that. They mention a short hike out to the pool, which is pretty rocky. During the time of year you are able to go to Devil’s Pool, half of the falls is dry (trust me, it’s still amazing), but the way to get to Devil’s Pool is by walking on the dry river bed. If you are able, bring good shoes for that because it is definitely not a smooth path. They also mention a swim across part of the falls. Again, totally safe, and I am absolutely not a strong swimmer so I was worried most about this part, but the swim is really not far at all and the guides are around to help. Further, I’m pretty sure I could touch the bottom the whole way across. The only downside to relying on that is that it is really rocky and kind of sharp a couple places, so be very careful about your feet. The guides take plenty of great photo and video on your camera.

Great communication abroad, smooth transition for quick Vic Falls trip
Dec 2018 • Couples
I reached out to Tamuka Travel about two months before visiting Zambia/Zimbabwe in Dec. 2018. We had one night and two days to spend - arriving afternoon one day and leaving late morning the following. Tamuka took care of everything and made everything run extremely smoothly. All communications leading to our arrival were quickly responded to. When we arrived in Zambia, we were met with a sign that had our name on it and a driver who got us settled at our hotel. He returned about 30-45 min later to take us to our Devils Pool tour. We walked to the falls - I recommend wearing sneakers! We were in flip flops, which was not the wisest move. The falls was wonderful and they had drinks for us after the long hike (water, soda). There were two guides helping us at the falls, making sure everything was safe and taking lots of great photos. After the pool, we returned the way we came, and they showed us the path to get back to the Avani hotel (where we were staying - there is a gate entrance to our hotel). The next morning, we were picked up by our driver from the day before (he was wonderful and very nice - i wish I could remember his name). He drove us to Zimbabwe and helped us through customs where we were met with Simon. Simon was extremely information on the Zimbabwe history and culture and told us stories as he took us through the zimbabwe side of the falls, which was quite spectacular. He catered the tour to our liking (skipping certain view points to get to the big ones before the crowds arrived) and took photos of us. I would recommend an early start (we were there before the falls opened) to avoid lines. Simon then took us on an extra bonus trip to the Big Tree (not very much to see there, but we saw some animals on our way, which was cool). We were then transferred back to our driver and hotel. We had about an hour or two to enjoy our buffet breakfast before being picked up and returned to the airport. it was a whirlwind trip that was arranged perfectly by Tamuka. Keep in mind, that there may be small delays for road issues, but that Tamuka still takes this into account so you are on time for all your excursions.

The walking safari is a complete rip-off
Dec 2018 • Friends
As the tour operators messed up our booking for the boat tour we were instructed to use the walking safari instead being told it was "cheaper". Of course they neglected to mention the $20 park fee which is added to the $75 dollar tour cost, making it comparable to the morning boat tour cost of $105, just that you dont get a boat ride, a tour of the island or a meal...
Would definitely recommend the boat tour if you are keen on spending huge amounts of money on a 5 minute swim...

Hi Kristy, This booking was not done through Tamuka Travel. You have likely gone through an operator on the Zambian side. We conduct our tours from Zimbabwe. Tamuka Travel
