- Joeymce0 contributionsAsk for KaiHanoi's street food scene is a must-try, and this tour was the perfect introduction on our first day in town! Kai, our guide, was fantastic. He navigated hidden alleyways, explaining local ingredients and customs. We devoured everything from fresh Nem nướng ( spring roll) to amazing bún chả, feeling like true Hanoians with each bite. By the end, we were stuffed and happy, with a newfound appreciation for Vietnamese cuisine. Thanks, Kai!Written 18 March 2024

We went to 7 places over a few hours and we got to see parts of Hanoi we otherwise would not have known about. Definitely recommend doing this tour on your first day! Great portions of each meal so you don’t get too full too quickly and you get to enjoy everything. You will definitely be full at the end! Kai shared lots of history and stories about each dish and was very helpful and fun. It’s really nice being able to sit and enjoy each space and take it all in. This tour is worth every dong you pay.Written 13 March 2024

- MaxBanks0 contributionsWe really enjoyed this tour with Kai our student guide - well worth doing! So pleased we booked this for our first night in Hanoi - we learnt so much about what each meal consists of and could try various dishes which gave us confidence in the days ahead to order things we knew we liked when out on our own. Our guide was a student called Kai - his English was very good indeed and he was good company, very polite and also detailed some of the history surrounding local life, customs and traditions with a bit of history thrown in for good measure. He also taught us how to cross the road Hanoi Style - thanks Kai! We particularly liked the mix of places he took us too, some at street level, squatting on small chairs, others on the first floor balcony with a good view of the street below. I can highly recommend this experience. We stayed in the Old Town and everything was within a short walking distance of our hotel.Written 11 March 2024

This tour was well worth the money, both the food and the tour guide were amazing. Andy was very knowledgeable about the country and city’s history and culture. The food was fantastic and I plan to go back for more! I would recommend this tour to anyone coming to Hanoi who wants to experience authentic cuisine and learn more about the city from a local. I can’t think of anything I would change, thanks Andy!

Kelly took us on a food tour through the ancient town of Hanoi. We walked the streets to different vendors/establishments that specialized in particular cuisines to sample all the amazing Vietnamese food on offer. Kelly first asked us if there was anything in particular we would like to try - I mentioned I was very keen to sample Cat fish (Chả cá Hà Nội) and also snails. Kelly took us to a well known Cha Ca restaurant and the food and experience was sensational. The fish was cooked at our table and the food tasted absolutely incredible. We ran out of time to get snails, but she emailed me that evening sending me her top pick. We were extremely impressed with Kelly’s food knowledge and would definitely recommend family and friends to join the same tour.

Last night we had an amazing hosted by Chris. We had been in Hanoi a few days now so had already tried a few dishes ourselves but Chris rose to the challenge and showed us even more wonderful dishes we were yet to try! He was funny, informative and great at giving everyone in the group something they’d love. Would 100% recommend Chris to everyone

We had our tour with Jenny who's very sweet and engaging. She took us to eight different food places, bought us beers, and shared stories about herself and her family. We learned so much about the food in Vietnam and life in Vietnam. Was a fantastic experience and I would recommend for everyone to do

Kelly met us at our Hotel buzzing with energy, excited to show us the best street food Vietnam had to offer. Along the way we learned about the language, culture and lifestyle of local Vietnamese.
It was clear Kelly had a good feel for what would work best on the night depending on how hot it was, time of year and dietary requirements but also making sure that everyone was trying something new and avoiding places if guests had already experienced a meal.
There were many places that on our own we would never have picked to eat at, but thanks to Kelly we now have some fantastic recommendations for ourselves, friends and family.
Perfect way to start our adventure in Hanoi! Thanks!

Going on this tour was one of my favorite things to do in Hanoi. Everything went above my expectations, from the pick-up from my hostel to the guide herself, Minnie, who was so kind the entire time. She took us on a very complete tour, including desserts, according to our needs and desires. The food was delicious, the company was great... an absolute must-do in Hanoi!

We had Kelly as our guide and she was great!! She continually checked in to make sure we were moving at a good pace for everyone and even customized the tour as we went in order to avoid foods we had already tried. She was super personable and fun. The three hours flew by! Highly recommend this tour! Kelly was such a great resource for information and just a joy to be around.

We took the foodie tour with Lucky and had a great time. Lucky is knowledge and happy to answer questions whether they be about food or culture or history.
We stopped at 7 stops varying from hole in the wall to more upscale and we sampled 5 dishes, one egg coffee and one dessert place with amazing homemade ice cream.
But what really made the tour great was Lucky! He moved smoothly from place to place and we never felt we had too much or too little time. His English is impressive and he was so easy to talk to that all 4 people in our group (2 Americans, 1 Singaporean and 1 Israeli) enjoyed discussing various topics with him.

Out tour with Andy was nothing short of fantastic! After exploring Hanoi by ourselves the first day, i couldn’t help but wish we had visited with Andy as soon as we touched down! We had 6 stops on our tour (not including an unplanned street snack and coffee), and all were absolutely delicious. A great way to get to know the city and feel like a local.
Andy also went above and beyond by sending a follow up email with even more food recommendations, both for Hanoi and even our next stop! Really the best food tour we have ever done!!

If this is the only way to go on a street food tour then I would suggest you join up with the group. Your tour guide should be able to tell you where they are - I think we went to 6 places so you would get at least 4 in!

I provided my credit car information, etc. but never received an email confirmation. If you already have my reservation on file, please send me an email confirmation. If you do not have a reservation in my name, please let me know so that I can make a reservation.

It’s a close call. If moon and stars align and you have smooth sailing after arrival, it could work. Traffic is a big deal, it’s not the distance. Do it the next day and you won’t have to worry about it.

Yes! Though I’m not personally a vegetarian, one of the people in our group was. Our tour guide was SO attentive to providing not just vegetarian but vegan and allergy friendly alternatives that didn’t skip on flavor. Just make sure to mention your dietary restrictions at the beginning of the tour. Hope that helps!
