- 314rajs00ForgettableWe were expecting this to be a mystical experience. It seemed very commercialized operation. We did not the show memorable and would only recommend if one has nothing else to do.
- patriciaaz202200A snoozeMany of the people I was with fell asleep! It is not a fast paced event as some might expect given the name. Do your research before you go!
- n0r0ke00Religious juorneyIt was not as i expected. I was waiting for a musical dancing whirling show instead it was a religious one. If i was expecting it maybe but as it is it was boring and slow pacing.
- 457anandam00Look before you bookThe whirling dervish has always had very strong symbolic associations with Turkey. To the extent that many may have mistakenly considered it to be the Turkish traditional folk dance. So when they go to a dervish show they expect it to be entertaining. And hence they review the show poorly. Very unfortunate. The symbolisms that the whirling dervishes embody are far too many. It is a form of meditative prayer and those who are aware of the depth and spiritual focus are able to resonate with it and also appreciate why photography, videography and applause are forbidden. It takes painstaking practice to master the art of whirling. It’s their perfection that makes it look simple. The Hodjapasha Centre has put up very informative posters, brochures and outstanding lifelike forms. However, I earnestly request reading up on whirling dervishes before booking your tickets.
- Departure4192279486900Unforgettable experienceWonderful and unforgettable experience, immersed in the holy and devout atmosphere, the time is passing fast
- AlbertoD79800Religious event all the same boringIt is more of a religious event than a show. It all the same. It is impressive when you see the first twirling since they turn and turn and turn and turn and turn. I lost count they get into a trance and do not get dizzy. However when they don’t again and again ir gets boring
- 232kaushikm00An awesome evening. It was what I expected, so I found it marvelous and it lasted just the right amount of time for a unique experience, different for the rest of my vacation.
- Explorer1542244842300Interesting introduction to SufismEnjoyed the music and ritual. Appreciated the information presented in the waiting area before the event, and then the video info during. Created interest in learning more about the Sufis and their practice.
- Curiosity4450573743000Mislead on the priceI had a brochure that my Hotel gave me with the price of 400 TL per person to see one of their shows. My Hotel made the reservation for 2 and we came very early to pay for the tickets. To my surprise they ask us 1000 TL per person. I said that was not the price from their own brochure and I show them. They didn't care and asked again for 1000 TL per person. That was more then double the price from their own brochure. It was measleading and we cancel on the spot the reservation and left.
- Sarsoura12300Amazing Meditative ExperienceIt's an amazing experience rather than a touristic show which makes it more intimate, meditative & heartwarming. A must do for meditation, spiritual dervish lovers.
- Y9812TPfc00Find another showTotal waste of money. I've attended other Whirling Dervish Shows and this performance fails to impress on any level. For the charge it's a total waster. Very, very disappointed.
- Bita A00good spiritual experience. Room was warm. Mevlana was a Persian and immigrated to Konya.Good information before starting the show, reasonable length, quite, the atmosphere was spiritual. Room was not cold enough. Also, it will be nice to keep the history as it was. Horasan was and is part of Persian empire. Mevlana was Persian and born in Balkh city , Province of Khorasan. His books and poems are in Persian language ( not Turkish language in Persian alphabet).
- dominic_12398700Terrible waste of moneyI Have never made review on trip advisor before but this is definitely the time. I have also never made such a big mistake as booking this. The only thing that happened was a bit of bowing and music which almost sent me to sleep, I was actually struggling to keep my head up. Then a bit twirling slowly not even at an impressive speed at all. 35 euros is an unacceptable price for this. By the end I was almost laughing at how repetitive and unskilled for €35 like seriously common. Thank god clapping is forbidden. Please don't go, save yourself and your bank account the pain.
- 679gaiaa00Amazing!Great experience, the location is beautiful and the experience is very spiritual. The room is intimate and the atmosphere is stunning.
- Sophie-Notes00A cultural experience to fill an open eveningI'd give it 3.5 stars. Buying tickets, getting seats, was all very easy and modern. You're assigned a seat at purchase, so there's no jostling for the best spot. But all the seats seem to have a good view since there's only two rows in a circle and the back row is raised. I appreciated a lot the information signs in the waiting area before the show started, but it was a lot to read before going in. The whirling itself is meant to be repetitive, so don't expect a lively dance show - it's a cultural experience. The live singing and instruments was a big plus to me. May be a bit too boring for some folks or small children. The one recommendation I would make is for the show to have more explanation in their recorded film part using the info on the signs and less direct religious quotes. My family that did not read the signs out front had no idea what was going on. For my cousin and I who had learned about Whirling Dervishes in school, this was cool to see in person. It was also a good filler for an open evening before going to dinner. The show is relatively short, a little under an hour.

Thoroughly enjoyed the dance part of the Saturday night "discounted double" with the Whirling Dervishes earlier. Costumes, sounds and dance routines were very well choreographed though i am not sure how authentic they were. I sensed some Irish line dancing influences on a few. The Whirling Dervish experience was a little less interesting but none the less interesting to see if your on a one off trip to Istanbul.

The artists are great, they were dancing with hart and soul, making the whole hall shaking in the rhythms of the dance. In this cold and dark December night, this was a real fire and pleasure with the awesome performance. Highly recommended!

The venue is hard to locate; it took us quite a while to search for it and almost we missed the show. We thought it would be operated by a government cultural institution but it is a small independent commercial dance establishment hidden among the stretch of restaurants. The dancers are professionals with a few highlighted items--the male & female belly dancers, drummer and a single swirling dancer. Overall a successful and entertaining show. I thought the many individual dances & musical items could be weaved into a coherent story for a more impactful and updated entertainment concept. Present a mysterious and romantic story as the background to add more umph.

The dancers and the show were great. However, I give it a 3 because the loudness of the speakers was deafening in a small room. At times, it was so loud that the speakers would vibrate the whole room. It was not necessary and detracted from the show. I hope they turn it down in the future because the dancers and drummers were otherwise very good.

Amazing show, very entertaining, dancers are very high level professionals. I liked how they show us dances from various parts of this region and Turkey in general.
It was so entertaining that almost felt short. Very good to take children, it can show them something new and maybe even inspire them. I have never seen some of these dances. Highly recommended.

Show was well done, the round room was fantastic the lights, music, dancers were incredible, my favourites where the whirling man, the glittering belly dancer and the drummer man excellent.
Including the audience was a right touch too.
Only took a star off cos if you’re short like me and there is a head in front it makes it awkward to see.

Kudos to the talented bongo player who engaged the audience, the male belly dancer and the artistic impression of the whirling dervish. The rest was less than mediocre, desperately in need of lessons and a choreographer. In a country rich in traditional dancing, the expectations are raised and this was very disappointing.

We attended the Rhythm of the Dance show at this place located in the historical district of Eminonu. The show was diverse and the performers were really talented. I must say it exceeded my expectation. Me, my wife and our 9 years old daughter enjoyed the spectacle.

Amazing colourful experience and so glad we booked and saw this. The Hodjapasha Centre was easy to find and lovely museum as a part of it.
The dancers were brilliant, from the whirling dervish, to the belly dancer, and all other dancers. We had an opportunity to chat with them after and they were very nice to talk to and they made an effort to stop and chat with us.
I would highly recommend.

This is a must do in Istanbul if you have a couple of hours. We booked tickets in advance and for the showtime that was convenient to us. Do not book more than one show per day. Even if its only 65 minutes its a lot to take in. This is a small place. The dancers are literally at your feet. So its a good view from anywhere you sit. The seats are assigned in advance. You come in 15.min earlier and they provide you with your seat assignments. They start on time. The dancers are amazing. They did folk dances, solo performance take on whirling dervish, belly dancing to drum beats, guys and gals. It was awesome.
