Masada, Ein Gedi and The Dead Sea from Jerusalem

Overview
Explore the highlights of the Judean Desert on a full-day tour to Masada, Ein Gedi, the Dead Sea, and Jericho with transport from a centrally-located point in Jerusalem. Enjoy independent time to learn about Masada’s dramatic history, hike into Ein Gedi, and swim at a private beach by the Dead Sea, then visit one of the world’s oldest cities with a guide.
What to Expect
Make your way to a centrally-located hotel in Jerusalem, where you’ll meet a driver for the trip to Masada, a desert fortress with a history that dates back to Roman times. The first three stops on this tour are independent, so you can enjoy each destination at your own pace.

At Masada, you’ll have time to ascend the plateau by cable car (own expense), and tour the site's ancient palace walls, synagogue, stepped pool, and other excavations. Continue to Ein Gedi, a nature reserve an oasis: with 1.5 hours at Ein Gedi, you can hike to a desert pool that supports lush vegetation in an otherwise arid landscape.

Drive on to the Dead Sea, where you’ll have access to a private beach (included in tour), where you can float in the hyper-saline water, or try out the Dead Sea’s mineral-rich therapeutic mud. The final stop of the day is a quick overview of Jericho, one of the oldest cities on earth. Learn about the city’s Biblical sites and landmarks, then make the return trip to Jerusalem, where this tour concludes. In some circumstances, the order of sites visited may change in order to optimize the tour.
