In the early afternoon, leave central Abu Dhabi or Abu Dhabi cruise port by air-conditioned coach and journey into the desert.
As you travel, watch the desert plains change into high, sandy dunes, and hear about the UAE’s rich Bedouin heritage and history.
After roughly 1.5 hours, pull up at a desert camp set in the dune-filled Al Khaznah region. Sprinkled with date palms and Bedouin-inspired tents, the Bedouin camp provides a beautiful setting for your activities.
Settle in a cushion-laden tent and savor a refreshing Arabic coffee and dates or soda, tea or water. Then, suitably refreshed, take your pick from the entertaining desert adventures on offer.
Board an air-conditioned 4x4 with a professional driver for a thrilling dune bash; have a go at sandboarding or horseback riding; or get an intricate henna tattoo painted on your hands or feet.
Take a camel ride across the sands and don’t miss the impressive falconry display. Falcons are the UAE’s national bird and incredible to watch as they soar through the air and swoop on bait from the gloved hands of their trainers.
If you wish, have your photo taken with a magnificent bird, and later, perhaps don a traditional Arabic costume for a souvenir photo.
For an extra fix of fun, choose to rent a quad bike (own expense). Climb aboard your rugged 4-wheeler and, after a safety briefing, zoom and zip around the sandy circuit.
Let the kids loose on the trampoline and inflatable slide at the play zone as you enjoy your own activities, or sit and watch them having the time of their lives.
With the afternoon over, admire the desert sunset with a tea by the campfire, and watch a short film on the UAE.
Finally, dig into a lip-smacking barbecue dinner of Arabic dishes such as hummus and kebabs, as well as international cuisine, accompanied by complimentary drinks.
Your experience finishes with a drop-off at your original departure point.
Please note: As this is a family-friendly experience, alcoholic drinks, shisha (Arabic water pipes) and belly dancing displays are not included.
