- helgafy0 contributionsDMZ with KatieOnly had a half day before flying out of Korea and was afraid we did not have time for tour. BUT Katie took care from rhe start to show us everything and explain with heart the details of a tragic split between north and South Korea. She gave us both history and current events of the DMZ and the Korean view of the split. Katie made sure we saw all the highlights and explained the ever changing regulations based on daily tensions of the two sides. I feel I saw first hands history in the making. Bonus: clear skies and clear views of N. Korea. Thx Katie for great tour AND making sure we still made our flight!! XoWritten 28 November 2024

This tour was definitely worth it! Yoon was an excellent guide and gave us lots of information so we understood the history and significance of the places we saw. She answered questions and was very friendly and funny. I had originally booked the tour with lunch which was 10,000 won more but since they no longer offer lunch they refunded me the 10,000 in cash at the start of the tour, which I appreciated. Yoon gave us good explanations of everything we should see or might need to know about each stop, like where the bathrooms were. She also gave us a clear time to be back at the bus. I wish we had had more time at each spot but I suppose if I had booked a full day tour I might have gotten that. But it still was enough time in each location, or just about enough time. I will also warn that it is an early start, even though it's an 8am tour start they picked me up from my hostel at 7am. It's very nice that they pick you up as I probably would have been late otherwise, but it was a little surprising that the pick up time was so much earlier than the start time, so just plan for that. Yoon and the driver did a great job of going to the various stops in an order that avoided the biggest crowd so you can tell they are very experienced. It was a very interesting tour and I learned a lot. We got lucky with a clear day and could see a lot of North Korea and though my knees hurt from especially the tunnel I am very glad I've seen it now. My only major frustration might be that it seems if you book the tour through Klook that is was less than half the price I paid for it booking via the Korean Information website/flyer for the tour I found. That and I had to call to get a confirmation instead of it coming automatically. But Yoon was so good that hopefully she made more money off my higher price ticket and I can be happy about that. If you are on the fence about taking the tour, it's definitely worth it, I highly recommend it. 👌

The places that we visited were really interesting and exciting. Keep in mind that you cannot bring your phone and even your bag to the 3rd Tunnel, which in fact felt really claustrophobic. The best part of the tour, in our opinion, was the Dora Observatory. However, we did not visit the Freedom House (the place with blue UN building and where Trump and Kim Jong-Un shook hands) but regardless, it was great.
We were scared and felt really uneasy when we entered the DMZ, but after some time it turned out very peaceful and calm. Korean military, UN and staff made great effort to provide the sense of security. The nature was breathtaking, I can't imagine how would it look in the summer.
Our guide was really knowledgeable, kind and caring. Her name is Yoon and she knew alot about the DMZ and the whole Korean conflict. We were really lucky to have her as our guide.
I never write reviews, but this place left me astonished and mesmerised. I am so glad that I found this tour. If you are thinking about going, Seoul City Tour is a great choice but, as I mentioned earlier, if you want to visit the Freedom House, you might want to look at others. The price is not the cheapest but it's a bargain because they pick you up at your hotel and drop you off at the City Hall afterwards.

It was well worth getting picked up at 5am considering the demand for tickets during this time of the year. Our tour guide, Julie Park, was pleasant, knowledgeable and gave us a worthwhile experience at the DMZ. Great work Julie! A special mention for being so considerate to bring the whole group back to the viewing deck later in the day for a better view ( was foggy in the early morning hours).

This tour was really good and our tour guide Bibi had a lot of knowledge! We started with pick up at 05:40 outside our hotel. We initially booked the 10 am tour, but was contacted on Whatsapp the day before and advised to go earlier in order to be ensured tickets (cannot be bought beforehand). Bibi managed to secure the tickets for 10:50, so before that she gave an informative tour of Freedom Bridge and the surrounding area. The rest of the waiting time was spent in the rest area which has some restaurants. The first stop when we entered DMZ was The Third Infiltration Tunnel, which was fascinating to see. It's easy going down, but can be a bit hard on the way back up. The next stop was Dora Observatory where we got a view over North Korea. Free binoculars were provided for better view. Along the way and on each stop Bibi provided good (and sometimes funny) commentary, so I would totally recommend this tour! The drop-off was at Hongdae or City Hall around 2 pm.

It was an early morning to secure our tickets when the ticket booth opened since there are limited available tickets because of covid. The whole tour was something I would honestly go on again to look around more and take more pictures. My tour guide was Julie and she was so knowledgeable and gave us recommendations on where to eat and explained everything to us. She even brought some snacks for everyone to enjoy. I highly recommend going on this tour whether you're alone or with friends or family. It is one of the highlights of my trip to Korea.

Be prepared to show up super early for pickup since the DMZ is only allowing a certain amount of people to tour with covid. Our tour guide was very informative and was very precise with the time in each area. It was a great experience to be there since certain areas you can’t take a camera. You certainly get to brush up on the history of the Korean War. Thank you Ms. Park for an informative and fun tour!

Erica was an amazing tour guide to the DMZ, she has really optimized the tour for her visitor's comfort and fun. For example, she explained a lot during the bus rides to ensure we had the most time to enjoy at the places themselves. She also gave us recommendations of where to get souvenirs, snacks, and local products. She was so special that she made sure to run first thing in the morning to give us all an international post card to send home. Erica also had our tour changed to very early in the morning during a busy day to make sure we would be able to go to the DMZ, since tickets are first come first serve. We even got to go as the second group of the day (out of 50), which meant less waiting timing and less crowds.
All in all, this tour gives you enough time to enjoy an impressive area of the country with a very good and fun guide like Erica! I would strongly recommend it to others.

The tour operator contacted us a day before the trip to confirm time and location for meetup. Our tour guide Bibi and the driver is early and picked the group up promptly and on time. Bibi is friendly and briefed the group about the history of DMZ and Korean war. She is clear in giving instruction hence the itineraries are followed through smoothly without much delay. As it is rather a big group, we can see Bibi is trying her best to accomodate to the group as much as she can. Overall, recommend this tour to the DMZ that one should experience when we visit Seoul.
P/s. It would be nice if we can drop by the supermarket stop though…

Julie park led an English tour of the DMZ, and was was an amazing guide that shared much knowledge of the DMZ and its’ history. She was very clear and concise, and was able to manage the timeline of the day such that we finished the tour in a timely manner but were still able to see all the sites. Would definitely recommend her and this tour company for anyone interested in visiting the DMZ

This tour was very educational and fascinating. Our tour guide Julie Park was incredibly well spoken, charming, funny, and fluent in English, making our experience very easy and memorable. She provided a dense amount of information, while staying surprisingly time efficient and prompt. This tour was also very considerate of the group members' requests and needs. All of our questions were thoroughly answered, and gave everyone a very user friendly experience. I highly recommend this tour, and Julie specifically, for those interested in learning about the history and current status between South and North Korea.

When the bus comes back to Seoul city, may I get off the bus earlier at a nearby metro station, such as hongik university station?

Thank's for your help. Today the bus stopped at Hongik University which makes me pleasantly surprised ......

Is it better to go in the morning or afternoon? Thanks
Written 23 June 2023
I think the earlier the better. They only allow a certain amount of busses in so I think the earlier you go, the less you have to wait for them to let you in.

The Dora Observatory was included in the tour, but the JSA could not be visited due to the current political situation. However, it's worth checking with the tour operator as it's a fluid situation and so can change at fairly short notice.
