Great views from the peak especially in the night. Ours was a free and easy, no tour guide. Best experience was the the Sky Terrace via The Peak Tower. From the Peak Tram we took the escalator to the top floor giving us the access to the viewing platform which was included in our tram ticket. Access to the terrace, provided us with a 360 degree view of Hong Kong. Weather was great.

I first went up to the Peak back in 1998 and returned for the first time this past January, 2018. I was traveling with my parents and wanted to show them the view. I was startled, but not surprised, to see all of the shops and infrastructure built to serve an ever-growing tourist population.
Never fear, though, the view was still fantastic and we all agreed that it had been worth the ticket entry and wait. While the queue was quite long as we went in the afternoon, it moved quickly.
Not the quiet venue that I remembered, but still worth it!

Long wait in queue (we were on the City bus tour so that's the quick queue! - still long). The ride to the top isn't all that itself - but when you get there you will find a lot of things to do as well as the fabulous views all across Victoria Bay and beyond. Good restaurants, shops etc at the top. A must do in Hong Kong.

Day or night this place has a absolutely beautiful view, with stunning views of the city. We took the train up and back down. It's well worth it as there is quite a few meal/beverage options and activities once you're up there. At the time of our trip Hong Kong was going through a bit with their government so the peak was almost empty (all the reviews I read said it got quite busy around sunset, however we went up without any issues and got seats at a restaurant quite quickly) I believe this would have been the reason it wasn't very packed. Recommend for all ages!

Long lines but a peaceful ride up and down with incredible views. Make sure you sit on the right side going up and the left side going down, if not, you will just be looking at the side of the mountain.

My husband & I pre booked our tram tickets including the Sky Terrace 428 tickets & arrived at 9.30, as we were concerned there was going to be a long line up (no need to worry got straight on) Crowds apparently down due to unrest in HK.
Tram ride is fun with spectacular views going up!
Once to the top unless you have paid for the Sky Terrace 428 you won’t get the full spectacular views & free downloaded commentary of points of interest which was very informative!
We had lunch at Bubba Gumps Restaurant seating with a great view of the harbour and meal that was very nice and waite staff very good.
No problems with crowds - straight on and down!

The ride to the top (and back down) was well worth it. The views were spectacular. When we reached the top it was even better. You are able to spend as much or as little time as you wish. The photo opportunities are not to be missed. We purchased tickets before we left Australia, and were able to by-pass the long queues.

If you are in HK you cannot simply leave without visiting the peak! You will be able to see all of HK. The whole experience is wicked.

Do we need to line up in the queue when we get the ticket?
Julie W

Yes you will need to queue and depending on time of day it could be hours, TIP get there very early and make your way straight to the top no stopping for browsing any of the shops on your way to the viewing platforms, do that after you have seen the main attraction sights. Have fun and take a warm wrap as it can be very windy and cool.
