The Rooftop of the World
Oct 2019
Back in October of 2017, I wanted to visit Tibet. While looking on Wechat articles for some way to get there, I came across Susan Lee, an amazing part of the Tibet Vista team, who helped me ultimately choose the 7-night Lhasa to Everest Base Camp tour, and it was an experience of a lifetime. I'm so glad I took the chance to go. I was teaching English in Beijing at the time, so although my trip from Beijing to Xining, and from there to Lhasa (the main city in Tibet), was likely much shorter than many other travelers coming in from around the world will experience, there were still many documents that everyone needs to prepare before you're allowed to step foot in the area, and Susan helped me with everything. She was very professional, experienced with the process, and answered every question I had. Two thumbs up to her! :)

While in Tibet you'll experience bus rides in comfortable chairs viewing pristine lakes, glaciers and plentiful grasslands where yaks roam. Near the monasteries you'll watch monks engage each other with their famous debate routine, you'll see cats relaxing within every temple, comfortably adapted to the altitude, and all along the main city, you'll have opportunities to taste the local cuisine. Try the yak butter tea - it was a bit salty in my opinion, but I found it warmed me right up during the colder nights, it helped a lot. Our tour guide, Norbu, was knowledgeable of the area, spoke English, Mandarin and Tibetan, was very experienced, hospitable and you could just tell he loved the job. The altitude is such that when you reach some of the lower summits for photo-shoots, you'll see clouds *below* you. Be prepared to take warm clothing, hiking boots, and high spf-rated sunblock (being above the clouds means more direct sunburns despite the chilly environment). I also remember having to buy a new pair of sunglasses from a shop during a break one day, the sun can be quite bright up there.

One thing I noticed some fellow tour group members complaining about while on the trip, were the small tolls you'd have to pay when visiting the bathrooms. They'd say they shouldn't have to pay to use the toilet, etc. I'd like to point out that Tibet is one of the most remote regions on Earth, it costs quite a bit to build infrastructure in places like that. When you go, just be aware that each time you visit a restroom when the bus stops, there will likely be locals at the doors asking you to pay 1 yuan to enter. One yuan is only worth about 15 cents (as of this review), it isn't a large amount, and please remember it goes directly towards the new infrastructure being built there so that it can one day be on par with what you're used to accessing back home. Altitude sickness is also a thing that happens to some travelers, but rest assured - the Tibet Vista team have you covered. The hotels you'll be staying at are equipped with anti-altitude medication and small portable oxygen tank canisters you can purchase, which help alleviate any dizziness or discomfort you may experience.

Finally when you reach the base camp at Everest, there's a picturesque creek off to the side where tourists often gather to stack stones on top of each other for pretty pictures. Elsewhere on the site you'll be able to take amazing pictures and selfies, and also stay there overnight. The beds inside the shelters are super comfortable, and they have plenty of warm blankets, and the locals that host them provide hot beverages throughout the night, and a hot meal in the early morning, they're very hospitable people. The best pictures of Mount Everest are taken at early morning, between 5 and 7 am, when the sunlight shines off the peak and the clouds surrounding it produce this beautiful pinkish hue. Simply amazing, the stories and pictures you can tell your family and friends are worth every penny.

P.S. - This trip review is for when I traveled to Tibet in October of 2017, but I unfortunately didn't leave a review back then (this site apparently only allows submitting reviews from a year back at most, it will say "Oct. 2019" below - but I went in 2017, just for clarification). Obviously, back in 2017 there was no Covid-19 virus, so there was no need for temperature checks, hand sanitizers, etc. However, for the sake of the algorithm, I will say "YES" to all the survey questions it will list about Covid-19-related safety below.

A visit to Tibet
Jan 2020 • Solo
Well what can I say... this is such a beautiful place to visit - definitely recommend it to everyone! Every Tibetan view was truly breathtaking 😍 I’m still very, very sad that we couldn’t make it to Everest Basecamp (circumstances out of our control in and around China) but perhaps another time in the near future. Our tour guide KonChok really made this tour such a fun and interesting experience. He was extremely knowledgeable and kept us safe during our travels. Thanks again! 🙏

Amazing Tibet
Jan 2020 • Solo
Had the best Tibet experience! Nothing disappointed me, the place, the people and culture all fascinating! Our guide Pasang was also the best! Unfortunately we couldn’t finish the itinerary due to corona virus and government shutting down places like Everest 😩 so we had to return earlier than expected. Even so the experience was amazing and the agency will refund us the money for the days we missed. Highly recommend the agency and especially our tour guide Pasang! Thanks for all

Outstanding!
Tibet is, above all, a dream land. That said, we got caught in the Tibet closing due to epidemics, which didn't allow us to finish the planned ittinerary. The company behaved amazingly responsible regarding the situation, and refunded me the money for the lost days.

The days we could do as planned were simply wonderful: the hotels are great, transport Is excellent, and the food included just great. The temples are directly from another world.

However, I want to dedicate a special paragraph to some of the warmest and most beautiful people that I came across here, that work as guides, drivers (our driver was just the best!), cooks, in the hotels and in the company in general. Sweet, lovingly caring for everything from keeping us warm in Tibetan winter to make sure we had eaten. My guide, Lhasa Tenzin is amazingly profesional and 24/7 dedicated, as well as a sweet and sensitive. I will never just have enough words to thank the loving way we are treated as foreigners, even despite things being particularly hard for the people that live in this corner of the world.

I came for history, landscape and temples, but I will come back for the people, that will always have a special place in my heart.

Do come to Tibet, and travel confidently with Tibet Vista!!

Amazing and Challenging Trip to Tibet & Mt. Qomolangma with Guide Tsedon
Dec 2019
We've always been curious with how epic it would be to visit Tibet and also the majestic Mountain Everest which we found out later in the trip that it's originally called Qomolangma by the Tibetan. So it was only the four of us in the trip, and when we arrived in Lhasa, Tibet, our guide Tsedon (we usually called her Taerina) was waiting for us outside the airport building. She was so warm and also looking very excited with the fact that we arrived; we loved her vibe instantly. Our guide was very thorough and detailed in explaining about the history of Tibet, their culture, their lifestyles, their food and basically every questions we had in mind that we asked her, she could answer them right away. And she takes great care in recommending local restaurants and hotels so that we get only the best service and exactly what we asked for. We highly recommend Tsedon as a guide and Penba as our driver for any visits to all parts of Tibet, and you won't be disappointed!!

ONE OF THE BEST (AND PHYSICALLY CHALLENGING) TRIPS OF MY LIFE!
Dec 2019
First of all, thank you to Chloe the travel agent whom assisted us from the beginning and was always so quick answering our questions. Second, our guide Kumchok and driver Tashi, seriously no better company we could have asked for. I got extremely sick with altitude sickness the first 2 nights of the tour (which thankfully we had 2 free days in Lhasa), and Kumchok came to our room (and we didn't even ask him to come) to bring us a big oxygen tank, which made me feel SO MUCH BETTER after getting oxygen directly through my nostrils for about 30minutes or so. It was his free day and he still came to assist me. Let alone Tashi, our driver, who drives kilometers in Tibet that was always so kind and ALWAYS trying to open the car door, even though he didn't need to. The hospitality, the knowledge of the guide, the flexibility of our tour was exceptional. Always punctual, and liked how they gave us a kit with reusable water bottles for a more eco-friendly trip, even though plastic water bottles were always provided. Kumchok was always prompt in his actions and would always make us feel comfortable. Provide and ask us anything we needed every time. We will never forget this amazing trip and I really hope next time we visit Tibet they will be guiding us once again, because we wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you for everything, wish you guys all the best!

Amazing Tibet Experience with Guide Tenwong
Dec 2019
My wife and I just completed a 7 day Lhasa to Everest Base Camp tour with Tibet Vista. Although the experience was challenging at times, with altitude being an occasional challenge and the biting wind at Base Camp (Our fault it was cold... we went to Everest in December!), this was a trip we will never forget.

Our guide Tenwong was incredibly knowledgeable about every site we visited. My wife and have both come away from this experience with a much deeper knowledge of Tibetan landscape, culture, life, and Buddhism.

Tenwong also lightened any difficult moments with his incredible sense of humor and light hearted personality. He was very patient with any questions we had, and went through incredible lengths to ensure we were always safe, healthy, and comfortable through the entire trip.

I would highly recommend this experience for anyone looking to experience a deep dive into a new culture completely different from their own. Tibet Vista and Tenwong were awesome. Would love to book another Tibet tour with them in the future!

Amazing trip in Tibet
Dec 2019 • Solo
I was very happy with the services of Tibet Vista from the very first e-mail until the end of the tour. My contact person Liam answered all my e-mails very fastly and friendly and I got all needed documents on time.
I came to Lhasa by train and on the train station there was a driver waiting for me.

As a solo traveller, it was very nice to get to know new people from all around the world and share beautiful moments. I had high expectations for Tibet but actually it was even more beautiful than I expected! I loved the harsh and beautiful nature and interesting religious and cultural life of Tibet.

I really liked visiting the monasteries and hearing our local guide Jigme sharing his knowledge about Tibetan Buddhism and also seeing the most beautiful natural sceneries! We had very good luck with the weather so even though we sat a long hours in car, it didn't bother me at all because the views were so nice.

I wasn't sure if December is a good time to visit Tibet but actually the timing was very good: less tourists means that things are cheaper and the weather was perfect! Just remember to pack enough warm clothes :)

Thank you Tibet Vista for this tour, you are doing an amazing job!

Tibet Holiday
Booked a 7 days tour from Lhasa to EBC with Tibet Vista. Arrived from Xining to Lhasa and they took care of everything upon arrival.

As we are not climatize yet during the first few days, our guide Jigme is very considerate and was flexible with the schedule. He even get a doctor to checkout my son as he was feeling very unwell.

During the trip, he has explained to us the history, culture and landscape as we visited the various places of interest. He also took care of us ensuring our requests are met.

Overall, we had a good guide, driver and a wonderful experience.
