A perfunctory tour from our guide and I’m afraid I ended up tuning out as much as she did. The highlight, of course, is the beer tasting in the on-site pub but the craft beers were not available when I was there, the pub was shabby, and the bar snacks were all deep fried. My trip to the brewery on the MRT was worthwhile as it offered an interesting glimpse of the Singapore suburbs but the lacklustre tour put a damper on the visit and I wished I had just bought a couple of beers and stayed at home.

This could be a Great tour but it was very underwellming. The Brewery stands alone in Singapore near Malaysian boader. For $16 you get a standard tour with a choice of time slots. The tour was very basic you can see equipment but no produce. Even the mechanical bottling and canning facilty was ideal. They have a nice bar and you get an opportinity to sample 5 beers in mini glasses. You can then buy as much as you want.

We went for an afternoon tour. We were able to book our 1pm reservation same-day. It was about an hour long tour explaining the beer making process and viewing the production and bottling factory. Then you get access to the tasting room and get 5 drink tickets included.

This was a perfect activity for a rainy Saturday. Our tour guide, Allen, was excellent. Knowledgeable and humorous. The tour itself was about 45 minutes followed by a generous sampling of not only Tiger beers but others as well, such as Guinness. Highly recommend.

A great tour to finish our trip to Singapore. The tour was good except the guide was rushing a bit with the talk. The production side was closed so hard to understand how it all worked. The sampling was fantastic and Tiger has some very good varieties.

I booked this tour two weeks in advance for my husband and I and another couple. We booked the 5 pm Friday tour thinking this would be great for a number of reasons, including end of the day casual tour followed by drinking in the Tiger Tavern.

I couldn't have been more wrong. It was just the 4 of us and one other couple on the tour. The tour guide, I think her name started with a K, was rude from the beginning. We arrived 5 minutes before the start of the tour and needed the toilet - her exact words, "is it an emergency"? What kind of an answer is that! All she needed to do was walk us into the building a few minutes early so we could access the toilet via the Tiger Tavern. I guess that inconvenienced her.

On the tour, she was hurried, dismissive, and even shushed us a couple of times. I've never seen anyone less interested in doing their job.

By the time we arrived in the Tiger Tavern, we were told we had just over 30 minutes (versus the normal 45 minutes) to enjoy Tiger & the other beers because there was a private party coming in. What? Then, 30 minutes later she came over and told us we needed to leave soon. We had full beers sitting in front of us. Oddly, she said nothing to the other local couple on the tour with us that was still drinking and indulging in bowls full of the bar snacks we had to beg for.

Then, 10 minutes later the private party walked in. She then took out the microphone, stood next to us, and told us we needed to leave.

She was literally the worst tour guide I have ever encountered. She made us feel singled out and unwelcome. No one else seemed to care we were there until she pulled the stunt on the microphone. We were quietly chatting amongst ourselves in a corner table and bothering no one.

That being said, the tour itself is okay, but you watch a video instead of seeing the actual bottling procedure. The highlight of the tour is drinking beer afterwards in the Tiger Tavern, but pick the timing of your visit carefully.

I really hope they invest in some training for their tour guides.

The Tiger Beer tour should really be broken up into 2 parts - the actual tour of the brewery and the drinks at the bar afterwards. We selected the 5pm last tour of the day, because we thought that if we were going to have a few drinks, it may be better to have them towards evening time.

To get to the tour, you can catch a taxi or take the MRT to Boon Lay station, then take bus number 182 at the bus interchange. The ride takes about 25 minutes and you'll know you're getting close when you see the big Coca-Cola factory. Right next to that is the Tiger Beer brewery. When you alight from the bus, the gate to the brewery is right there in front of you. It's not clearly marked and can easily be missed as it just looks like an unbroken line of fencing. We walked a long way down before getting directions back to where the gate was.

Once you're inside, you confirm your tour (pre-booked), pay money then hand over some photo ID. They accept your country of origin's driver's licence if you're uncomfortable with handing over your passport. I think it was $16 to enter and you're given a lanyard to wear.

The tour starts with everyone standing around in the foyer and watching the brewery's origins, processes and awards on a big screen. It goes for about 10 minutes, before you walk outside and get to smell and feel oats, grains, hops etc from a dispenser. Our guide speaks through a microphone which as times was very hard to hear - especially once you're inside the factory.

There are a few stairs to navigate throughout the tour and the noise coming out of the factory is quite loud. No filming or photos are allowed during this part of the tour and after looking at the silos and the automatic bottling plant, we were told that the tour had ended and that we were about to head into the bar for a few drinks.

There's a few areas where you can pose to take photos, and our guide was happy to take photos for you, but we were eager to be getting to the bar. The bar itself is decked out with leather sofas, pool table, dart board, TV with sports and during the 'tasting' they provide you with plenty of mixed nuts to eat whilst you wash down your drink.

Tiger beer and Heineken are served in mugs, but the 4 other beers (including stout) were poured in smaller glasses, including cider and citrus squash. No big deal as they'll pour you another one when you're done. It's served on a glass by glass basis, so you have to hand over your glass to receive another drink - I guess to stop you from asking for a dozen mugs of beer.

I probably wouldn't recommend over indulging because they'd probably stop serving you, and if you've caught the bus, it's a bit of a wait for buses and another 25 minute bus ride back to the MRT station and shopping centre. The return bus stop is on the other side of the road and being a busy road, it is easier to walk down the road and making two traffic crossings to reach your bus stop, rather than running across 4 lanes of heavy traffic.

The bar staff also give you ample warning that last drinks are being served before you're asked to stop by the gift shop, then returned to the entrance to collect your ID. I'd definitely do the tour again, but next time I'd just sit in the foyer and wait for the first half of the tour to end and join everyone in the bar for the 45 minutes of drinking. Some how I doubt they'd let you do that...

I did not realise how far away from the city (close to the Malaysian boder) this was until you I got an mrt train to 'Joo Koon' and then the 182 bus.

If getting the 182 bus make sure you keep an eye out for the Coca Cola factory as the brewery is the stop after this.

When you enter the factory gates don't expect and immediate signage for the tour - walk through the vehicle drop barrier gates and continue along the road that runs parallel to the motorway on the other side of the security fence.

When you arrive at the tour office you will get a stamp on the hand and then be brought through the brewing process and shown a couple of videos. The tour ends with a how to pour a draught of beer and also have a glass of Tiger. Finally you will have a 45 minute sampling session in the on site bar.

The gift shop is small but decent.

If getting the 182 bus home; when you exit the brewery gates move left and make your way up to the road junction, cross the road and you will see the bus stop. We had to wait 30 minutes for a bus back to Joo Koon mrt (one bus went by full) so make sure to use bathroom facilities before you leave the brewery (especially if you made the most of the 45 minute sampler session).

The brewery is a long way out of central Singapore. We are staying in Sentosa so it is an hour and a half by public transport. The tour was a bit "sterile". We were unlucky with our guide who spoke far too quickly and held the microphone too close to her mouth so no one could understand her. We were the usual mixed tour - all different nationalities and ages. She did not slow down even when asked. She looked thoroughly bored and kept checking her phone whenever there was a break. There are some fun interactive things to do and the videos were OK. The tavern at the end was good fun. You can have samples of other interesting beers and Tiger beer in a really lovely bar. The best bit of the tour really and we chatted to some very nice people. The downside was that the bar staff looked as bored as our guide and couldn't really tell you that much about the sampler beer. The staff let this tour down I am afraid and I would have liked to see much more in the way of practical demonstrations to bring the subject alive.

This is a shame really as any brewery tour should be a good outing.
Be aware that if you are going by taxi it will be around $20 each way depending on your pick up point.
You would need to organise a return taxi with someone as there are no passing rides back.
The tour is actually very brief and hot with lots of stairs.
A short video and then some photos with the big bottle, then into the making/ packing areas for about 10 minutes.
The best bit is the free 1/2 pint of Tiger plus 5 samples of your choosing after.
It would be cheaper to stay at your hotel and drink Tiger than take the taxis.
I think if you have been to everything Else in Singapore give this a go but don’t rush.
