Very personalized sacred valley tour
May 2021
We couldn't have been happier with this trip to sacred valley, followed by the 2 day trip to Machu Picchu. Valentin was highly responsive throughout the planning process, and was a deeply knowledgeable guide during the trip. He was always well on time to pick us up. (I had read Mark Adam's book Turn Right at Machu Picchu in which he employed a much costlier tour company, which I had also contacted, which was late for pick-ups stating Peruvian standard time runs late, so I was pleasantly surprised).
We were driven around in a very clean and spacious car by his older brother Daniel, while Valentin sat at the passenger seat sharing wealth of information. We started our trip from Chinchero, and visited these wonderful women who weaved from Alpaca and sheep wool in-house. We saw some amazing science experiments that showed how natural dyes were made, and the whole process of turning wool to beautifully designed woolen clothing. If you want to buy woolen clothing, this place had good variety, and you could trust you are buying the real deal, while the money directly going to weavers. The price was similar to what you would find in San Blas neighborhood in Cusco (near the Cusco square things get costlier and the quality dubious).
Next we visited Moray and Maras, where Valentin shared with us the history, flora and fauna and many attributes of local lives. We were never rushed, and if we wanted to hike down or up or do whatever that was allowed, Valentin was up for it. He also took amazing pictures. We went to Urubamba market and bought algae balls (as seen on Chef's table episode on Virgilio Martinez) and cheese on impulse, and Valentin got us made a salad with these for our lunch. The lunch was at a gorgeous setting outside Valentin's home (absolutely fresh food, yummy soup) followed by a tour of the farm with a chance to try fresh produce right off the plants.
Everything was planned so well, that we could just walk one-way at most of these places, and Daniel would be waiting with the car on the other end. Valentin was more than just a guide, he as like a friend who has invited us in his country and shared his time and stories with us. He is also incredibly well-connected. The Ollantaytambo archeological site closed sooner than usual, but he could let us in after some persuading the guards.
We were picked at Cusco and were to spend the night at Ollantaytambo before taking off for the one day Inca trail to Machu Picchu with Valentin. Once we were at the Ollantaytambo archeological site, Daniel took our luggage to our room in Ollantaytambo, which was away from the main square and unreachable by road due to narrow streets. We never had to worry about any detail, everything was taken care of by this wonderful family.
We are curious people and kept peppering Valentin with questions, and he patiently answered them all. We even got his help to figure out some logistics in Lima, and wherever he didn't know any detail, he reached out to folks to get us the resources we needed.
It was amazing to see all the social projects that they have undertaken. And not to get a certificate of goodwill, but out of genuine drive for the cause, motivated by the stories of their own past, and how they came a long way from their humble beginnings.
The other reviewers are right, this is an A+ service. I contacted at least 8 companies for sacred valley tour, but none was as responsive and personable.

Guided Tours through Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu
Feb 2020
My sister and I just returned from a fantastic trip to the Sacred Valley. After doing a ton of research, we decided to engage the services of Valentin’s Pachamama Journeys for two days ... the first day to tour the Sacred Valley and Valentin’s farm, and the second day to tour Machu Picchu. Simon Puma expertly led us through both days.

The Sacred Valley tour started with a brief walk around the Ollantaytambo town center followed by climbing the Ollantaytambo ruins. Simon was extremely knowledgeable and maintained a pace that was comfortable for us. From there, we went to Valentin’s farm in Yauhaura. We met Valentin there, and he took us on a thorough tour of his farm, including the home where he grew up. We got an excellent briefing on life on the farm before being led to a beautiful dining area for lunch.

The chef had carved fruits and vegetables to make beautiful arrangements for the table ... what a nice way to start the meal. The incredible meal consisted of quinoa pilaf, a potato/avocado dish, fresh salad, and trout from a nearby stream. Dessert is a tree tomato in a cream sauce. We were completely blown away by the lunch.

From there, we departed for Chinchero to visit a women’s weaving cooperative that was both informative and interactive. Then we went to Maras which where a salt quarry is located. Unfortunately because it is the rainy season, there is not really much to see. We head into Moray to visit the ruins. Simon understands that we’re getting a bit tired, and he obliges when we say we’re ready to return to our hotel.

The next morning Simon meets us at Aguas Calientes and leads us through Machu Picchu. He really brings the ruins to life for us. We ask many questions, and he provides thoughtful answers. We spend several hours in the ruins before heading back to town for lunch.

While Machu Picchu was amazing I must say that the day we went on the tour of Valentin’s farm was the highlight of the trip. I highly recommend Valentin’s Pachamama Journeys to anyone who wants personalized attention by knowledgeable guides.

A+ Sacred Valley Tour
My wife and I did a private Sacred Valley tour with Valentine. As the other reviewers have said, Valentine is the real deal. He is an excellent tour guide and we highly recommend him. The one-day tour with Valentine and his brother Cesar, who drove the SUV, was the highlight of our honeymoon in Peru.

From the moment we were picked up at our hotel in Urubamba until the end of the day, Valentine went out of his way to teach us about the history of Peru and also told us about current events in Peru. He was extremely knowledgeable and such a pleasure to talk to and learn from.

We had a lot of fun exploring the different sites throughout the day, and Valentine gave us plenty of time to do our own thing as well. He was always professional, which is a great quality to have as a guide. If you’re on the fence about who to book as a guide for the Sacred Valley or Machu Picchu (like I was) choose Valentine! You won’t regret it!

Perfect Day
Nov 2019
Once again Carlos met us at our hotel lobby on time. We were able to view all the terraces at Ollantaytambo and Pisac with a new understanding of their use for agriculture. The importance of water for both spiritual and physical purification for the Inkas was an important concept that we continued to appreciate as we spent more time among the stones. Carlos took us to a place where we could see the rock condor and allowed us some private time for meditation. The lunch at the farm was not only delicious but well presented. We had a chance to feed the guinea pigs in the kitchen followed by our trip to Pisac. At Pisac Carlos introduced further information regarding the customs of the ancient peoples.

EXCELLENT ORGANIZATION AND SERVICE
Nov 2019 • Family
We’ve been traveling with 3yo son, so the private tour was the only one option. Valentin helped us to book the tour via WhatsApp with the program that we would be able to do with a small one. Every my question was answered in less then 5 mins. From pick up from the hotel till return we were treated the best way! The car was new and clean, the driver very polite and accurate. The guide was excellent! Gave us unique historial, cultural and social “knowledge”. He helped us anytime when the baby needed smth. We did Pisac, Moray, Maras, Cusco, Chinchero. Very detailed service and politeness from everyone.

Also we did private transfers from Cusco to Ollantaytambo. Thanks to Valentin and his team - we were able to organize them the same day.

Highly recommend Valentin’s company to all travelers. The prices are very reasonable! Our trip was perfect!

Great local tour operator!
My husband and I did this full day private tour with Elvis and we enjoyed it so much that we booked him again for a half-day Cusco tour. The drivers were skilled and the vehicles were spotless. The farm lunch, prepared just for us, at the Valentine’s organic family farm was the best meal I had in Peru and seeing the guinea pigs running around his mother’s old kitchen (now just for show) was priceless. This company has deep roots in the Sacred Valley and the kindness and patience shown to me (altitude is not my friend) was greatly appreciated.

Best tour ever!!
Sep 2019 • Couples
This is one of the best tours we ever took!! The Inca ruins at Ollantaytambo and Pisac exceeded our expectations. The ingenuity of the people who built them were remarkable and the setting in the Sacred Valley and mountains are unsurpassed. A highlight of the day was the short trek through the mountains to the farm, where were were treated to a delicious traditional meal. Our guide Rodney and driver Daniel were superb. Rodney was an excellent guide, knowledgeable and with a great sense of humour. His passion for the Inca and their accomplishments shone through. It was like spending the day with an old friend. We highly recommend this tour.
