Overview
This tour showcases the best of Cusco and the Sacred Valley including Machu Picchu and includes visits to the best Inca archaeological sites but is unique in that it also visits local markets in Cusco and the Sacred Valley. Day 1 will be an depth city tour of Cusco where we will see the incredible Inca ruins of Sacsayhuaman, Puka Pukara and Tambomachay, have lunch a local market, and then visit all of the best sites in Cusco including the main square, the Cathedral, the temple of the sun, and if desired, the museum where all of the original artifacts from Machu Picchu are located. The next day, we will tour the Inca sites of Pisac and Ollantaytambo with a stop in a local market in Urubamba and in the evening we will take the train to Aguas Calientes in time for an amazing private guided tour of Machu Picchu the next day. Day 4 will complete the tour with visits to the salt mines at Maras, the Inca amphitheatre at Moray, and the weaving and textiles demonstration at Chinchero.
What to Expect
Day 1: You will be picked up at 8:30 by private driver at your hotel in the morning. From Cusco or the Sacred Valley, there is a 45-minute drive through beautiful mountains and farmlands to the town of Chinchero in order to visit the women's weaving cooperative where we will watch a demonstration of local weavers who are using Inca techniques for dyeing fabric and for weaving traditional patterns. Then we will visit Maras, a collection of salt mines that have been used since pre-Inca times to evaporate salt from an underground stream followed by a visit to Moray where will look down below to contemplate the concentric circles that made up an Incan agricultural laboratory. Lunch in Urubamba before taking late afternoon trail to Aguas Calientes.
Day 2: Today we will have a very early start  (5 am) so that we can arrive at Machu Picchu in time for the majestic sunrise--a once in a lifetime opportunity. In depth guided tour of the site for 2 hours with option to hike to Inti Punku or the Sun gate. Late afternoon train back to Ollantaytambo where we will transfer you to your peaceful 3 star hotel. 
Day 3: After breakfast at your hotel, you will have an in depth tour of the Inca ruins at Ollantaytambo, which was the lodging of the Inca emperor Pachacutec and later served as a military checkpoint for the Incas trying to protect the roads to Machu Picchu from the invading Spaniards. We will then drive 20 minutes to the town of Yanahuara where we will visit to a farm in the sacred valley, where we will tour the farm lands, cut alfafa to feed the guinea pigs, and see first hand how chicha is made. Then we will drive one hour to the majestic ruins at Pisac where we will visit terraced Inca ruins that are situated high on a mountain followed by a visit to local handicraft market at Pisac. Private transfer to your hotel with accommodations at Tierra viva or similar caliber hotel (3 star)
Day 4: Pick up at your hotel. Private tour of Cusco including local market tour, main square, main cathedral, Coricancha (temple of the sun), After lunch, we will drive 30 minutes to Tambomachay which was the Inca temple of the water, and then visit Pukapucara which was a ceremonial place of the Incas. Then we will visit the the Unesco world heritage site of Sacsayhuaman. We will accompany you to your hotel at the end of the tour.
