My guide Almir (who I had for 2 other tours as well) is what made the trip. He is a veteran of the war, and fought in the Siege of Sarajevo.
He is very knowledgeable and will answer any questions you have, but I am also leaving this country feeling like I have a friend.
This is a fantastic tour to get more insight on what was happening in the city and country at the time.
Ema in the office was also amazing emailing me and answering questions I had about the tours, as well as taking her time to answer other questions about the city that I had. I have never been with such a great tour company! I highly recommend using them when you are in Sarajevo, I have never had such a great time with a tour company!

I echo the many justified positive comments here. The tour of Sarajevo is breathtakingly good, not least because it is possible to see and truly feel the recent history of the siege and the city’s rebirth. It isn’t dusty history, but nor was this a pessimistic experience either. The tour was brought to life by - in our case - two inspiring guides, Arna and Hamza, who between them created a vivid picture of many different stages of the city’s recent history and used their deeply personal experiences. Their English guiding was elegant and open. Besides the seriously high quality of the tour itinerary and commentary, was too much trouble either. We could have stayed longer, skipped a stop, stopped, asked questions etc entirely at our whims making us truly feel like guests. Finally we were able to be dropped back to our resort at Jahorina with an on the spot transfer from our driver, saving us negotiating a taxi in the city. I can’t recommend this illuminating tour experience highly enough - and if done in Winter on a sunny day as we did, there is all the more atmosphere to lend itself. I will be doing more activities through this country when next in Bosnia!

Can't credit driver Tarik or guide Emirn enough for the tour. I actually booked two other tours with this operator before I had even gone on this and it was a brilliant decision. Tarik and Emir were both so friendly with a great vibe between the two, were incredibly knowledgeable and supplemented the tour with personal anecdotes which really elevated the experience and added a human element to the history. There was no issue with language either - the English ability was bang on.

My only quibble is that and regrettably justifiably in my opinion from the tour operator's perspective, I had wanted to do the full day tour which captured this and Tito's Bunker but was told that the Bunker was undergoing renovations (and possibly there wasn't as much demand for the tour so it would have been more expensive to run just for me) and so it wasn't quite the same experience as usual, but I heard others in my hotel having visited it and enjoyed it! I guess that just means I have to (happily) return and would go with Funky Tours on it on the basis of the three incredibly professional tours.

Thank you Tarik, Emir and Funky Tours!

I knew I wanted to visit the Tunnel of Hope but didn’t really know how to get there on my own. I decided to take the easy way out and signed up for a tour with Funky Tours. It was one of the best decisions I made in Sarajevo. I’m an independent traveller and never really a fan of guided tours, but I’m glad I did. We were transported in a comfortable vehicle from the city to the tunnel, and our guide Amir told us stories along the way, pointing out the significant buildings. I learnt so much of the siege from the tour and Amir answered all our questions. The tour felt very personal and he even shared some personal experiences of his father. If you’re interested in learning more of this history, go with Funky Tours. I have to give a special mention to Edna. She wasn’t my tour guide but she was so helpful in answering all my questions about Bosnia (as I arrived at the office earlier). She even helped me find some hotels as I was thinking of extending my stay in the city. Definitely a tour company which treats you like a friend more than a client.

Dear Diana, thank you so much for taking a moment of your time to write about your experience with our company. We were truly happy and grateful that we were able to bring you closer to understanding our rather complicated and sorrowful history. We always strive for that personal approach, so that our guests feel like they are surrounded with long know friends. Once again, thank you for booking this tour with us in the first place, it was such a pleasure to meet you and to assist you in any matter needed. We truly hope to see you again in the future. Sending you a lots of love from Funky Tours team <3

The company - The communication with this travel company has been absolutely flawless! From assisting with booking tours at late hours, to helping with luggage storage. This has been one of the best companies I've worked with during my travels.

The tour - a really interesting tour to take! If you are interested in learning about the history of Sarajevo, do not hesitate to take it! Our guide Adnan had so many interesting stories to tell about the city as well as his experience during the siege. You get a bonus story if you ask about how he met his wife :)

Thank you for a really great experience!

Almir was my tour guide and what a hell of a tour he gave me!! I did the Sarajevo war tour and it felt like a semesters worth of history condensed into 5 hours of information. He not only shared his countries rich and complicated history but his own personal experiences during the war. He was such a sweetheart and I recommend this tour as an essential part of anyone's visit to Bosnia.

I did a few tours with Funky Tours during my trip to Sarajevo and they were all excellent. The team really went above and beyond to help me plan my time there and get the most out of my trip. The guides were fantastic, knew a ton about the history and included their own personal stories which really enhanced the tour. Sarajevo is such an interesting city and I hope to come back soon. I would highly recommend a trip to Bosnia and when you go definitely do a tour with Funky Tours!

The tour was one of the best experiences my boyfriend and I made during our two week stay in Bosnia/Croatia!
I was born and raised in Bosnia and wanted to"refresh" my memory a bit, witness my culture from an objective angle, and also for my Austrian boyfriend to have things explained to him by someone else than me :)
The communication with Funky Tours was uncomplicated and quick. Thank you Edna! The price is really reasonable, 50 BAM pro person (around 25€). Regarding the content and the duration of the tour, it really isn't expensive at all!
Adis was our guide and we could not have wished for a kinder, funnier, more competent, educated guy in Sarajevo. He spoke (in excellent German!) to us but also with us while he drove around, minding to ask questions or to check if we had something to ask. At one point, up in the Olympic Village, I needed to go to the toilet, and he took me to a nearby hotel with the van, where he patiently waited for me and drove me back to the rest of the group. I felt safe, as if I was with a family member. I thought it's ok if I mention this small detail, an act of kindness you don't really expect :)
We saw and learned a lot, we still talk about the tour with friends and family. When we go back to Sarajevo, I am booking at least one more tour with them!
Hugs and greetings from Vienna!

Myself and a friend had an amazing time doing this tour. Guide was really interested in getting us inside the events which happened during the Siege. We went to the Tunel, Mountains and Jewish Cemetery and he added relevant information about the whole history.

We selected this tour on a recommendation and are so pleased we did. Our guide Arna provided us with information of this time as she lived here in Sarajevo during the siege. She drove us to all points of interest relevant to the siege and explained what life was like for locals living here at that time. Arna was so full of interesting information about local culture and how it evolved historically as well as providing information of the time of the siege. I am very glad we did this tour as it has given me a better understanding of what people lived through in such recent history. Arna was a fantastic guide and I am very glad she took us on this tour.
