Overview
Admire the historic monuments of the Croatian capital and gain an insight into local life in Zagreb on this private 3-hour walking tour. Accompanied by a local guide, explore the lively Ban Josip Jelacic Square, tuck into street food specialties at Dolac Market, ride the funicular to the Upper Town, and stop for coffee along Bar Street.
What to Expect

The 3,5-hour tour starts at the Ban Josip Jelacic Square after which a licensed guide takes guests on a stroll around Zagreb traditions and customs known only to a true local. Alongside with history and culture the tour intoduces the everday life in the past and today. A tram ride through the center takes the the guests to the National Theatre of Croatia, one of the monumental sights.

Learn the history of theatre while admiring the view at the square. Just around the corner is the most popular rebel street from the communist times. Continue to the place where Saturday mornings are reserved for the one's that like to see and be seen. If it is Saturday watch out for paparazzi! After a cake in the best confectionery in the city take a ride with the famously short Zagreb funicular.

A stroll through the Old Town is ideal to enjoy some views and stumble upon many sights including the iconic St. Mark's Church. In the Stone Gate learn about the miracle of Zagreb and many customs connected to it. Crossing the Bloody Bridge one enters the Bar Street wherem as true locals, the guests get to relax with a cup of coffee while the city moves in front of them. Soon the Dolac green market awaits with its sounds and colors. It would be a shame not to try a local specialty - burek with jogurt.

To learn more of the local religious traditions guests are taken to the largest church in Croatia - the Zagreb Cathedral. The tour finishes on the Ban Jelačić Square near the Manduševac Fountain with the legend every local knows best - how Zagreb got its name. At the end there is a local souvenir for every guest....or have they become Zagreb locals already?

I liked the tour, it was informative and the guide had humor. He also had a very loud voice which was needed because at one point there was a festival, at another there were roadworkers, and trucks kept passing us. He however was louder which...More

Samia was our tour guide and she has a passion for Croatian history. I enjoyed that she was able to weave how Croatian politics have dictated much of what happened. She also had a plethora of "I never realized that" facts. Many of those facts...More
